Hotel Captain Cook

We stayed at this hotel on our way to Denali National Park with a tour. We were pleasantly surprised to find this hotel was so wonderful. The food at Fletcher's restaurant was delicious. Also had breakfast at The Pantry. The rooms were a good size and clean. The counter in the bathroom gives you a lot of space to spread toiletries. There are a variety of gift shops in the lobby. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We would stay here again but have no plans to go back to Alaska at this time.

Great hotel centrally located, we found our room to be clean, comfortable and quiet. The hotel is beautifully appointed with historic scenes featuring Captain Cook and his Polynesian voyages.

We stayed at the CC at the end of a 11 day cruise tour with Princess cruise lines During that time, I came down with the flu. We had asked for help with several things and were not happy with our service there and we did not have unreasonable requests. To start, the hotel is beautiful; great sheets beautiful room, good handicapped accessbile setup, in a prime location. However this could not overcome the ghastly customer service (with the exception of our room service breakfast server who was delightful). Here's a few anecdotes... 1) with my being sick and my husband in a wheelchair, we needed to get food for dinner. None of the restaurants in the hotel do room service other than breakfast. They told me we had to go to a hotel restaurant and order. I tried to call the closest of the restaurants and they did not take a direct call. The restaurant recording said I must call the front desk. When doing so, front desk said they couldn't get a hold of the restaurant either..."I'm just in a closed-in office and can't get a message to them". They suggested I call doordash which I ended up doing. 2) When I called to ask where to go when we needed to be seen by a doc to get a tamiflu script..they suggested Alaska Regional and gave us no more info. 3) When I asked for the name of a pharmacy close by, they did not know ("the concierge had a family emergency and had to leave early and I'm just the front desk clerk") 4) when I went to the front desk to find out where an atm machine might be, the question did not even warrant a verbal response. Front desk clerk (who was not serving anyone at the time) simply made made a hand gesture and jerked his head to indicate it was in the business center. They simply did not seem to care. While our cruise covered the cost of 1 nights, we paid and stayed for 2 additional nights at the CC but left after that for the Hyatt House...what a welcome change. Much better customer service there and such a contrast to the Captain Cook!

Wonderful hotel! Everything was clean, service was excellent! We went to both bars and loved them. Great value. Thank you Captain! We will be back!!
