We had a wonderful stay at the Botanic Sanctuary. It had a cozy, unique atmosphere, a central location, was spotlessly clean, and served a truly delicious breakfast. We also really enjoyed the spa; after an active day in the city, we were able to relax there until 10 p.m.

From the moment you walk in to the minute you step out again, everything and everyone there is lovely. We had the classic room which still provided a very spacious bath room. The massage at the spa and the Sunday brunch were the highlights of our stay. But also a special shout out to the food we ordered for roomservice. It’s pricey but it exceeded our expectations. The smoked salmon entree would have easily sufficed for 4 people! Overall a fantastic stay. We will definitely be going back.

location was amazing and spa & breakfast were close to flawless. However, room was very small and had scratches and holes in door and window. Overall, I don‘t think the room and facilities lived up to the hype and cost. The fake plants also really bothered me. I would expect a hotel of this level to have gorgeous flower areangements like the Dries flagship.

We visited Hertog Jan with high expectations, but the experience was deeply disappointing. Our evening started with cocktails served in glasses that had a strong unpleasant odor. We immediately raised this concern and chose not to continue dining. Instead of addressing the issue professionally, the chef insisted on charging the full amount (€1240 for four people), despite us not consuming the meal. To make matters worse, the restaurant later attempted to charge an additional €300 via our hotel as a “cancellation fee,” which was both surprising and unjustified. What was most disappointing was not just the hygiene issue, but the complete lack of accountability and empathy. For a restaurant of this reputation, the attitude was shockingly arrogant. Would not recommend based on this experience.
