Absolutely amazing! We stayed in the historic part of the hotel, and it was perfect. I wish we could have spent more than 1 night. The room was very comfortable, with very high ceilings —14 feet or more —and a small balcony. The A/C worked well. We enjoyed using the little elevator once we knew how it worked, although the grand staircase was an easy way to get upstairs as well. The queen-sized bed in the room was comfortable, though we had to juggle the suitcases a bit because the floor space was a little tight. You could drive a car down the hallways! Breakfast was amazing. The pickled vegetables - to be found in the far right-hand back corner of the buffet- are perfect for lovers of hot spicy food. They pair well with the hard-boiled eggs. We enjoyed a nice cool walk through the gardens in the evening.

Another visit to the Old Cataract and it never fails to live up to its reputation. From the moment you arrive to the moment you leave you are treated like the most important guests in the hotel. All the staff of friendly and professional and always have a smile and nothing is too much trouble. It’s an absolute pleasure staying here, if you haven’t been then you are definitely missing out

This place is legendary and it feels like it. We splurged on a suite for two nights. It was a Nile view in the new Nile building. If I had realized the difference between the Nile building and the Palace, I might have really gone for it to be in the historic Palace building. That said, our suite was outstanding! It was pure luxury from the entry to the balcony. We felt like royalty, or at least like celebrities. The entry was large and welcoming with a small room off of it with mini fridge, honor bar and coffee making area. Then the walk-in closet. Wow! It was huge! There was a lovely sitting area, bed area, gigantic bathroom and an enormous balcony with two different sides. One side was by the bedroom and other other side was just outside the bathroom. Our view of the Nile was breathtaking! The whole place was breathtaking! Just walking around the grounds was beautiful with gardens and Nile views. We had dinner the first night at the Oriental Kebabgy, which is in the Nile building overlooking the river. Our food was delicious and the service was warm and welcoming. We had both breakfast and dinner the following night at the 1902. The space is gorgeous! And the food was delicious! We never made it to the spa or the pool, but they both looked wonderful. We spent most of one whole day in our room enjoying the views. I wasn't feeling great due to the two days of travel. It was an ideal spot to rest up and relax. If you have the funds for this luxurious and historical place, stay. I would love to go back and go on the tour, have some pool and spa time and take afternoon tea.

Had lunch at Al Saraya. Excellent service from my waiter Saber and the experience was great overall. Would recommend stopping by even if you aren’t a guest.

We booked with the tour guide to go to The Old Cataract Hotel for afternoon tea. The boat man was wonderful and took us for a lovely long trip going down the Nile and pointing out wild life and places of interest. When we got to the hotel we were not welcomed until they rang the tour guide and we were expected to eat afternoon tea immediately. We were expecting to be able to wander round the hotel and its grounds. We were then taken on a tour by Shaza who was lovely. She showed us Agatha Christie and Churchills suites and told us something of the history of the hotel. Afternoon tea was very disappointing. They delivered coffee of some unidentified variety and I only got tea by requesting it. The sandwiches were dry and the cakes random
