Carlton Hotel, The
6005 El Camino Rd.
Atascadero, California
This was a nice boutique hotel in the heart of Atascadero. The bathroom was large with both a shower and bathtub. The room was fine although no bed skirt on any beds in the 3 rooms we reserved.

Right off the five, has restaurants and is in the center of town, nice rooms! Was told it was under renovation, but didn’t see any signs!

Wish I could give this place less than 1 star. Booked this place in September for a stay this weekend and when I arrived there they tell me they don’t have reservations for me. When I show them my receipt with reservation number they proceed to tell me that they overbooked and don’t have rooms available due to renovations being conducted where my room was supposed to be. Once again, I booked this place in September and was never notified about a cancellation and was never refunded. They sent me to a holiday inn express like 2 miles away; thank God I paid for the rooms upfront front because it forced them to have Holiday Inn bill them directly. The couple ahead of us who they did the exact same thing to was told that since they elected to pay at the hotel that their card would just not be charged and they could just pay the holiday inn out of pocket instead; problem is when we all booked our rooms a month in advanced the price for 2 nights was about $400…the holiday inn express day of charges for 2 nights…about $700…I will never try to stay at this hotel ever again.

Worst hotel ever! Do not book. You will drive 5 hours just for them to tell you they’re overbook and your previous reservation is canceled. They will use the excuse of renovation. Do not Book! Older lady is very unprofessional. The hotel turned down a family who pre booked 3 rooms for the same excuse that the rooms were overbooked. Why not call in advanced

The bed and bathroom were amazing. The room was large and comfortable. There was a bottle of wine waiting with apener in our room.. We thought it was left for us complimentary only to be charged $43.50 for it on checkout. No one said a word to us about this charge at all. I saw it on my credit card bill when I got home. We will stay there again, but will bring our own wine.
