Athenaeum InterContinental Athens

We stayed at this hotel in July 2025. We stayed in one of the newly renovated suites with club lounge access. The staff was very kind, the room enormous, really nice bathrooms with the Byredo amenities. The breakfast both at the lounge and at the restaurant were very good. The snacks during the day as well. The view is just WOW. You need to walk a bit to the touristic places but it is worth it. We really enjoyed, well treated as usual in the Intercontinental hotels.

As a regular visitor to Europe & USA staying at Intercontinental Hotels I chose this one in Athens as my preferred base. The room I booked was extremely spacious, scrupulously clean, airy and bright. It came with a mini-safe, mini bar, large comfortable sofas, arm chairs, and mood lighting which added a lovely ambience to the room. The power shower in the bathroom was fantastic, the heating and air conditioning worked really well. All in all everything was great regarding the room. The Club Lounge food offerings was the only thing that has prevented me offering a 5 star review of this establishment. I noticed the selection of hot and cold food offerings was limited compared to previous lounges, The staff working here were absolutely exceptional. If I were to empathise with my point, all previous stays in Intercontinental Club Lounges, you come to expect a certain level of attentive service and quality of food. The attentive service was as expected, but the quality and selection of food here was not as expected, the food in particular was never hot it was warm at best. This was the same everyday so it was obviously the norm. This is in no way a reflection of the staff It has merely become hotel policy to have food which is placed in the lounge to be kept on hot plates at a desired temperature. One thing this hotel stood out on was the fantastic views you get of the acropolis, this was absolutely mesmerising. The hotel has a full open terrace which is accessed via the Club Lounge, so it's advisable to book a room with club access to appreciate the views on the 10th floor. In conclusion, a lovely stay, good vibes, professional and attentive staff, I will definitely return here again in the future despite the trivial issues regarding food.

We had a fantastic stay! The room was great, the breakfast fabulous and the staff wonderfully friendly and accommodating. Athens is such a busy place and we felt that coming back into the calm and welcoming space of this hotel was ideal each day.

What a great hotel with great staff! My daughter and I had the pleasure of staying here during our week long visit to Athens. We were pleasantly greeted upon checkin. We were using some rewards nights and there were some complications that the front desk worked out for us seamlessly and with a smile. The room was very spacious and well appointed. We had double beds, and they were so comfortable. The shower was very nice. On our 3rd night my daughter started suffering from a stomach ailment. We ordered sprites from room service at 3am and got them promptly. The next day the concierge help direct us to a pharmacy to get some much needed over the counter medications. A day later and she was back to shape. We have a couple of more room service meals that were fresh and delicious. My daughter decided to have a couple of outfits laundered and despite her late notice, the housekeeping staff had mercy on her and did her kaundry in 3 hours. Great staff!!!!! Front desk, concierge and housekeeping gets an award from me. Upon checkout, we needed a few more hours to store our luggage. The bell captain took our bags to a very secure storage closet and kept them safe until our return. This was a great place to get cabs to/from. Every cab knew exactly where this property was, a true bonus. This is a great property, stay here!!!!

It’s a beautiful hotel inside even though the outside may not show it. The room is also very clean with a comfortable bed. Very nice staff. The shower has lots of hot water and the blackout curtains do a great job keeping it dark at night. The tram is very close to the hotel (closer than the train) so it’s easy to get to all the good stuff in the city. The breakfast bar is delicious! We really enjoyed it!
