Surprisingly Good !

We had read so many bad reviews for this hotel before our trip that we almost cancelled our reservation . I am however glad we did not and went ahead. Rooms are recently refurbished , staff at the front desk, room dining , Premiere and the breakfast restaurant are all lovely and courteous. Location is not perfect , but not more than 7-8 mins from the centre by UBER + Tram station is just next door . I would only ask that the hotel probably trains the bell boy team a little better who act like a group of random old men standing outside the hotel and chilling on their own rather than acting as part of hotel staff and interacting / taking care of guests . That said - Positives at this property outweigh the few negatives and we would not mind staying at the same property , if we are back at Athens anytime soon.

Perfect for a family holiday

We stayed here for 4 nights in July with our children (young adults) and had booked 2 rooms. IHG Diamond membership was recognised in advance with good communications. We upgraded in advance to a suite using a confirmable suite upgrade 2 weeks before. Our children’s room was upgraded before arrival to a Club room with Acropolis view. This gave them a higher floor and better view than us! We received a warm welcome at the Club Lounge check in and were able to help ourselves to drinks and afternoon tea. The lounge has been refurbished and is a lovely space,, especially the outdoor balcony area with Acropolis views. This is blocked at times with a huge crane as work is still ongoing with a side of the hotel under tarpaulin. Lounge staff were very helpful with restaurant bookings and tourism queries. Breakfast, afternoon tea and evening snacks were excellent along with drink selection including champagne, wine and beer available all day. À la carte breakfast items take around 20 minutes to make as they come from the ground floor kitchen. We also tried Cafe Zoe buffet, it was a great selection too. Coffees are made to order at both breakfast locations. Both rooms and bathrooms had been refurbished and were beautiful. Our suite was huge with a lounge and 2 full bathrooms. We appreciated the lounge area of the suite to be together as a family. Note key cards only allow access to your floor in the elevator so this can be difficult, if like us you have family on different floors. We appreciated the pool to cool off after exploring in the mornings. It can get busy but the lifeguards were very helpful in trying to find beds and not allowing people to block beds they were not using. Iced water was provided. The pool area didn’t appear to have been refurbished. The gym area in the basement was ok, again this didn’t seem to be refurbished. The location is a bit out of the way but we used Uber for getting around so it wasn’t an issue for us at all. They usually arrive at the hotel very quickly. From Athens we took the overnight ferry to Intercontinental Crete, we hoped to check out as late as possible, they provided the best solution they could, keeping one room for a few extra hours. Overall, this was a great family stay. The refurbished lounge, rooms and staff really made for it us along with the pool area.

Beautiful hotel, very friendly front desk staff, wonderful room service (huge menu). The amenities are great - gym is well stocked and pool is nice. We used points and still got an incredible upgrade (I am IHG Platnum). Our room was HUGE (3-room/2-bath suite) and we had a straight-on view of the Acropolis.

Happy we chose this hotel

Best breakfast by far in Greece. Rooms are spacious for Europe. Location isn’t perfect but it’s a quick Uber to the sights. Glad for a real bathroom door vs glass. Pool is huge & rooftop bar is lovely. Cocktails were excellent. I wanted to recognize the female lifeguard at the pool. While my husband was present, a small boy near the pool began choking. This lifeguard performed emergency help on the boy and he eventually could breathe. The ambulance came and took him and his parents to the hospital. Thanks to the hotel management for hiring a lifeguard and I hope she gets recognized internally for her efforts.

terrible check-in experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Extremely disappointing check‑in experience. We finished check-in in the morning after a 30‑minute wait and were told to come back at 3 PM for our room. Upon our return, we had to queue again for another ~40 minutes just to get our key. Our polite request for flexibility as a family with children was rejected. Poor organisation for a star‑rated hotel. Not recommended for families.
