Stayed at the Astir for 3 nights (3 rooms) for our family of 6. Food and accommodations were on par for this type of a property. I just felt that the overall experience could have been better based on the nightly price point. I am a true believer in "you get what you pay for". We collectively enjoyed the time spent at the Astir but cant say we left with that "wow" sentiment based on past experiences at other F/S properties. Nothing negative towards any of the staff btw, wonderful people all around and the property is obviously extremely well kept.

If only there was a half star options here; this would be 4.5 stars; and low on my list of notmally fantastic Four Seasons. And in this case; it’s all about the intangibles & slightly around the price point. This is especially true for a FS Resort Property. First the good stuff. Best location in Athens, big property, with number of areas to chill & relax. Actually there are 2 building, each well appointed. We also had a very good upgrade to our room, and cannot complain about these. So, whats the issue? We were disappointed and surprised that there were welcome amenities, a welcome card or any sort of recognition at the room. Whilst we appreciate the nice upgrade; the above was very surprising. This was my 124th stay at a four seasons property (not 124 nights, 124th stay), and frankly everywhere else we I go, we are made to feel right at home, and our stay is so much more personalised. So it was surprising, to say the least, that there was nothing in the room at all. We were joking that even the tv screen didnt have my name on etc. Across the hotel, service was very mixed. Some lovely staff, buf very inconsistent. And I guess thats the thing, FS is great because most of its offering is consistent across the board. Not in this case. Food was average, and spa quite nice. This would be enough on its own to put this in the lower quartile for FS resorts in my experience (still way better than any / most other hotels). However, as what i believe is an eye watering price point, at the end of the, it was just not that special.

The FS Athens is a stunning property. The feel is of being at a sea resort, yet within great proximity of the city and airport. I stayed in an Arion Sea View room, which was very well appointed - certainly five star “new Four Seasons” standards. Like many others, I debated which building to book (Nafsika vs Arion). After visiting both, as well as the bungalows, I would definitely pick Arion again: Nafsika is full of families, and I found the rooms to be a little less upscale. Bungalows are cute but most are not very private (people on the walkways can look inside). Arion has a more elevated point of view, and a grown-up vibe. The sea view is certainly worth the extra. Service and overall facilities are of very high standards. Yet, not quite as perfect as one would expect given the price point (around 2.5k per night for a non-suite room puts the property at the very top end): - The food and beverage offering is mixed. Avra Bar is outstanding (like world-class outstanding: from the quality of the drinks to the service and venue, an incredible surprise and certainly the highlight of the F&B offering). Taverna 37 is very good. I did not get to try Pelagos but heard very positive reviews. The rest, gosh… Mercato has the most uninspiring menu. Beef Bar just mediocre at best (slowest service and average steak). Matsuhisa is plain bad (surprising as the only thing that Nobu outlets seem to excel at is consistency). - Service in the cigar lounge at Arion is just bad. Had to chase someone to get a drink. Sat outside, started raining, and found out that the door to go back inside would not open from the outside. Had to walk around, got soaked, and one of the staff (tall white young guy wearing a jacket, so I assume some managerial position) made some condescending mocking comments. - I booked a cabana one day as I assumed it would offer some privacy and calm (supposedly the best one at the end of a pier). Definitely not worth it as other guests and kids come to play or suntan right in front of it (for what they charge I feel the area should be cordoned off). In general the Nafsika pool is a total mess of kids and families. Despite some small shortcomings, it’s a place where I would go back for a short getaway.

Outstanding experience and the staff are wonderful. My sister and I dropped in for breakfast - even though we were not staying at the hotel we were welcomed warmly and made to feel special. Food was delicious and the view out over the ocean on a magic day was delightful. Thanks so much to the Astir Palace Hotel Four Seasons team
