Reviews for Hotel Grande Bretagne, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Athens

One of the best hotels in Europe!

Simply amazing stay. This is definitely one of the top hotels in Europe and a must visit in Athens. We have stayed for two nights. As Ambassador Elite, we were upgraded to a Grand suite with a view of the main square. The room was luxurious and very well designed. Small touches include daily fresh flowers, welcome amenities, and fruit. Moreover, it comes with a personal butler who is there to assist throughout the stay with any request you may have. The check-in is conducted in a separate room on the 6th floor. We were treated by Eleni, who could not have been more professional and welcoming. The butler on duty then took us to the room to show its features and help with the arrangements for the next two days. All staff we have interacted with are professional and most importantly, incredibly friendly. It is obvious that they take pride in working for this hotel and want every guests to have an amazing stay. This shows in every interaction and tells genuine and true! Breakfast is served on the top floor with a small, but quality buffet, complimented with à la cart selection. We have also had a dinner at the same restaurant and the food was absolutely delicious. Once again, the service was absolutely fantastic. The spa facilities are impressive, including an indoor pool and multiple saunas. Overall, we left impressed a wanting to come back again soon. Highly recommended!

Visit in Athens: Grande Bretagne Hotel Athens

Fabulous heritage property right in the middle of the city and within walking distance of the ancient sites. We booked two separate rooms, but were really happy to be upgraded to a two bedroom suite. Staff was formal, but extremely professional and helpful. The restaurant on the roof has outstanding views of the city as well as the Acropolis. The waiters were attentive and highly responsive. The lobby has a cafe with great high tea and scones served. Again very attentive staff. I’d highly recommend this hotel. It’s expensive, but it’s worth it.

Finest Luxury Hotel in Athens.

Athens. Great staff, central location, next to the parliament, train station and syntagma park with amazing views of the acropolis. My brother and I stayed at the property during our visit to Athens in the last week of November. Our room was upgraded and we had perfect view of the acropolis and the city.Room was were very cozy, the Hotel has a very historic feel and the decor compliments it. We stayed for two nights and had very memorable time. Breakfast was good and the staff was wonderful and very supportive. We had flight delay and checked in late night, Panasonic at the front desk was very helpful and went out of the way, great many thanks to him.

December 2025 and January 2026 stay were both amazing and memorable.

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

As it’s always my husband who checks in and out, he doesn’t remember anyone's name. But for sure, it’s always a great experience. We stayed last December 2025 as a family of 4 and then this January 2026 as a family of 3 with a little toddler running around the whole room and the lobby area. We would like to thank Natassa, Maria, Michalis, Sofia, Myrsili, Kostas, from last time too Christoforos, Andreas from breakfast (this stay and the previous one) as they were very kind and also helpful with the kids. Maria, Christina, Asimina the hostesses, and Spiros & Konstantinos for serving us during dinner last December 2025. Our stay in January was more about room service and relaxing, so we’d like to thank Margarita, Elpiniki, Theodosia from the Marriott chat assistance. Every stay at Hotel Grande Bretagne is just one of a kind. We’ll be back again in March for sure. I do apologize if I put both reviews in one. But definitely a wonderful stay and a relaxing one as always. Thank you to every staff member that I may have not mentioned the name due to me forgetting it sometimes too. We love our teddy, the little souvenir we bought for our little girl. ☺️ We sure did love the first stay’s champagne rather than the second one. Hehek. We didn’t drink it, so it’s a shame it went to waste. It wasn’t our type, so yeah. Sorry about wasting it, but the sweets and the chocolates are always to perfection! We'll see you again in March! Thank you once again for a wonderful stay and looking forward to the next one!

A beautiful hotel complimented by an amazing team of staff!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I absolutely loved my stay at this hotel. We were originally booked for three nights but ended up staying six due to the air traffic flight cancellations. The hotel is spotlessly clean, and is architecturally beautiful with lovely quiet comfortable bedrooms (great air conditioning) and a nice spa and pool. The breakfast is excellent with lots of choice including individuality cooked options, and the views from the restaurant to the Acropolis are stunning. It is within walking distance of the major sights, eating and shopping areas and right next to the underground station which connects directly to the airport for an easy transfer. Due to the delays getting home I unexpectedly spent my birthday at the hotel. The staff couldn’t have been kinder; from the breakfast team bringing me a glass of champagne to the most helpful lady on the reception desk (I think her name was Eleni with long dark hair) who ensured we had a lovely room and arranged for some chocolate and desserts as a surprise for my birthday. The concierge team were helpful with recommendations for tours outside of Athens and we also enjoyed dinner in the restaurant. I can’t wait to stay at this hotel again on my next trip to Greece.

I traveled to Greece in June of 2004 and had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel Grande Bretagne after its multimillion-dollar renovation. The hotel was absolutely impeccable in every way. Our room was palatial, the service was fantastic and the dinner we enjoyed at the rooftop restaurant was truly an evening to remember with the fantastic view of the Acropolis.

My experience with the Grande Bretagne exceeded my expectations on every account. The hotel was beautiful and the room was amazing. Dinner was exceptional - definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Greece.
