Cost is up there, but the rooms are really great. Quiet night's sleep as well. The service was top notch. Have been to a lot of 5 star properties and this one was tops for the service at the bar and breakfast buffet. Wish we could have stayed longer and enjoyed more of what the property offered. The location is great--walkable to the desirable areas to visit in Athens. Easy location to get cabs also. Rooftop view from the bar is epic.

I visited the rooftop bar as a non-hotel guest and really enjoyed the experience. The view of the Acropolis was absolutely beautiful, the cocktails were delicious and the staff were very friendly. Definitely worth a visit for the view alone.

I would have given this hotel an outstanding review as it is beautiful and in a perfect location. Service very attentive. However the concierge team caused us to have a miserable 40th anniversary evening when they failed to tell us that the restaurant where they had made us a reservation was closed for an event. They in fact confirmed our reservation when we arrived but the next day at the restaurant, we were informed that they were closed and did not even have us on the list. Impeccable hotel but this is not what you expect from a hotel of this caliber and expense.

This was our second time at this hotel. The gym is currently under renovation, but they are doing their best to accommodate guests. This hotel is right across from the capital- you can watch the changing of the guard from your balcony. It is also within walking distance to the Acropolis and has great views of the Acropolis from the restaurant and some rooms. The lobby is gorgeous. The staff is very helpful and friendly!

We have been going to this hotel for 30 years, but a recent stay really blew us away because it was better than ever. Yes, hard to believe because it has always been outstanding. With significant renovations and immaculate cleanliness, the extra-ornate interiors are really luxurious throughout. But the real kicker is the fact that the service from every staff member in every department is amazingly exceptional. This tells me that management has done a superlative job of training, emphasizing a fantastic approach to all their clients. Every employee addresses you by name and is not only courteous, but also pleasant with a smile. This property ranks with the Grande Dames of world class hotels such as The George V in Paris, The Dorchester and Ritz in London and The Peninsula in Hong Kong. Of course, some of the rooms are closet-size, but there are some beautiful large suites which are just magnificent - however this does not come cheap; but as I always say : " You get what you pay for ".

I traveled to Greece in June of 2004 and had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel Grande Bretagne after its multimillion-dollar renovation. The hotel was absolutely impeccable in every way. Our room was palatial, the service was fantastic and the dinner we enjoyed at the rooftop restaurant was truly an evening to remember with the fantastic view of the Acropolis.
