JW Marriott Auckland

Stayed one night en route to Hobart. Nicely kept facility with convenient access to harbor shops and restaurants within walking distance. Helpful staff with a special callout to Claudia at reception, suggesting a boxed breakfast as our airport transit departure time is prior to lounge opening time. Good WiFi and convenient water dispenser near elevators. Lobby restaurant food quality is fair at best. Recommended.

Our two-night stay in Auckland was at the JW Marriott. It is located in the city centre, about a 20-minute drive from the airport. Upon arrival, there was no porter service. Check-in was handled courteously, but without much explanation about the hotel’s facilities, and there was no welcome drink. We were not escorted to our room, nor did anyone offer to carry our luggage—which, incidentally, was quite heavy. The room assigned to us was #819, on the eighth floor, with a view of the buildings opposite. We were given some complimentary sweets as a gesture of hospitality. Both the hotel and the room had a modern, appealing, and comfortable design. The king bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning allowed for an adequate temperature, although it operated somewhat noisily. The room featured a chaise longue, excellent for relaxing. The bathroom was marble, with a separate shower and bathtub, but only one sink. The bath amenities were by Aromatherapy and were complete, including bath salts. The bath towels were large and soft, and the bathroom ventilation worked well. Housekeeping service, however, was poor. We requested housekeeping at 10:30 AM, but it was only carried out at 2:30 PM—even though it had been confirmed via online chat that the service had already been completed. There was no turndown service. We had access to the Club Lounge, where the service felt somewhat impersonal and the food selection was limited. The beverage offering was good, with more extended hours than usual (4:00 PM–8:00 PM). In conclusion, although the price paid for the stay was good, the standards expected of a so-called luxury hotel, such as a JW Marriott, were nowhere near being met.

We had a wonderful stay at the JW Marriott in Auckland. The hotel staff was very courteous and professional when we were checking in and out. Even better was that we were able to check into our room early since we had a long overnight flight into Auckland and arrived in the early morning. It's always appreciated when this can be done. The concierge lounge was spacious and breakfast was very good. Definitely would stay here again on my next visit to Auckland.

Nothing less than expected from a great property. Leo, the Concierge, was immensely helpful prior to arrival with trip planning and connecting us with some great tour companies. The hotel is quite beautiful and the lobby bar and executive lounge were well staffed and stocked. Room service was quick and top notch. The front of house staff was also excellent with their greetings and assistance with other needs during our stay. Everything was clean from the lobby to teh 11th floor pool and someone was always seen cleaning. We look forward to returning some day in teh future and will select the JW as our first choice!

We didn't have the best experience- there was street noise that could be heard from our rooms in the evenings and we were woken up at 5.30am one morning from the sound of a truck loading / throwing heavy metalware. The breakfast was one of the worst hotel breakfasts we’ve had. However the hotel staff did a great job responding to our needs and quickly moved us to a quieter room when we complained about the noise and they were kind and professional the whole time.
