JW Marriott Auckland

Outstanding 5 night stay at the JW Marriott Auckland. My wife and I just returned from a fantastic two weeks in NZ and Australia celebrating our 20th anniversary. We had a truly exceptional five nights at the JW Auckland. My deepest gratitude and appreciation to the entire team for creating such a special and memorable experience at every single touch point. My wife and I travel a lot and have the privilege of staying at incredible Marriott properties all over the world and I must say that our stay thoroughly exceeded my expectations and this is a reflection of the amazing team at the JW Auckland. The genuine warmth from the team made our stay feel even more meaningful. The team consistently impressed us with their genuine kindness, authenticity, and incredible attention to detail. I am sincerely grateful to everyone involved, and I would especially like to recognize the front desk manager, Mimi, the guest experience team especially Lisa and Shiv, and the Executive Lounge team. The thoughtful surprises upon our arrival on September 9 courtesy of Mimi, Lisa, and Shiv and the beautiful suite made us feel truly welcomed and brought big smiles to our faces. The incredible surprise Mimi put in our suite with a handwritten note on our last night on September 17 to make our anniversary celebration special left us speechless! I would also like to personally acknowledge several outstanding team members whose warmth and hospitality stood out. From the Executive Lounge team, it was such a pleasure meeting, connecting and interacting with Deepika. Other team members, Pelle, Mon, and Evian were terrific as well. The pre arrival communication with Kelzang Wangmo and Imran Fariz was very helpful. Everyone's friendliness and care truly made the JW Auckland feel like our home away from home. This was our first visit to Auckland and we are very much looking forward to returning again soon. The hotel has outstanding amenities. Excellent fitness center and pool/spa. Highly recommended. We have very mixed feelings about our stay at the JW Marriott Auckland. We were traveling as a family of six—four adults and two children—and had booked two rooms using Marriott Bonvoy points. The front-desk staff were attentive at check-in and arranged connecting rooms for us, which was extremely helpful and allowed our grandchildren to move easily between the rooms. The Executive Lounge was a good size and offered an excellent breakfast selection. We also appreciated being able to stop there in the evening for complimentary drinks to enjoy in our rooms. Unfortunately, the pool experience was very disappointing. The pool and fitness facilities are shared with the building’s residents, and the pool area is quite small, with only about ten chairs or loungers available. We tried several times to use the pool, but it was consistently overcrowded, with nowhere to sit or even place our towels and belongings. Eventually, we found one chair and had to pile everything on it. We also watched several other hotel guests arrive and then leave because the area was too crowded. It was certainly not a relaxing luxury-hotel pool experience. Although the hotel was comfortable and the staff at check-in were helpful, we did not feel that it offered enough to distinguish it from a standard Marriott. We have previously stayed at Marriott and JW properties in Fiji, Australia and Istanbul, where the service, welcome amenities and attention to detail felt genuinely special. That elevated experience was missing here. The price reflects the JW name, but the facilities and overall experience did not. This is a pleasant city hotel with a good lounge, but it did not deliver the distinctive luxury or personal touches we expected from a JW Marriot

Great location, extremely clean and impeccable service! Everyone was amazing but 2 incredible standout employees that took care of us in the lounge and made it feel like home were Deepika and Pelle. They were wonderful.

I had the best time in JW Marriot in Auckland for my 5 Nights stay last end of August, thanks to the wonderful & friendly staff. The welcoming staff at the reception- Althea, Chauv, Chloe, Nisha, Tashari & Cyrene- who made checking in & out so easy and are always so very helpful, especially when I wanted to purchase a stuffed toy. Floris from Conscierge who made sure my luggage was kept safe and accessible when I requested safekeeping as my flight out of NZ was late night. To Niluka of Housekeeping who was so thoughtful and remembered to leave bath salts the next time they had my room attended to and cleaned. Wasn’t expecting that but i truly appreciated it. And most especially to everyone at Trivet who made mornings so special- Moises, Ashleen, Kimmy, Karen, Leshani, Hibiki, Tina, and a special shout out to the most attentive and friendliest of friendly, Manju, my friend. Love hearing the stories, suggestions & recommendations, so nice to be welcomed every morning and greeted by lovely and warm smiles every single day. I also appreciated the take away snacks and the flat whites. Was also able to check out the pool area and gym. I love that there’s fruitful just outside the door for guests. Location is top notch, at the center of CBD, near everything- luxe shopping, the sky tower, the Civic and Auckland Gallery, Britomart and parks. Convenient and has a lot of restos nearby. My stay at the Marriott was amazing and I’d really love to come back again. Thank you again for taking good care of me.

We had a wonderful stay and great, albeit short, 2 day introduction to NZ! Friendly and efficient welcome at reception. Room was great, as were the hot tub and sauna. We used the executive lounge for breakfast and at other times and found it comfortable with a nice selection of food and great staff. We hope to have the opportunity to stay again in the future. Day 1 - used the GPS My City app (highly recommended) to do a narrated walking tour of the city. The Sky Tower is definitely worth visiting, views are awesome and coffees and pastries reasonably priced considering the location. Day 2 - 40 minute ferry to Waiheke Island and rented e-bikes. Island is beautiful! Too cold in mid-September to spend time on the beach but took many photos stopped for coffee and then for lunch at Tantalus Estate Winery - rump of lamb and wines were delicious. Left on the 9am ferry and returned on the 2pm. We weren’t rushed but if you want to linger on beaches our visit more wineries allow longer. It’s a long way from home in Philadelphia but we will be back to the Marriott and to see more of New Zealand!
