Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour

We were grateful to receive an upgrade to a Marina view room because of our Accor status. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed. The location was quiet with views over some spectacular private yachts. It was also within distance of the city area. The executive lounge had 3 different hot dishes every night and a selection of cold dishes. The food and drinks provided were all very good quality. We would definitely stay here again.

The room was spacious and clean, with a scenic view of the water and the Sky Tower. The staff member, Maneet, was exceptional as well. It was my dad’s 60th birthday, and he provided wonderful service that helped create special moments for my parents.

First time at this hotel and it was a mixed affair. Pros Location is superb, with a Woolworths metro a five-minute walk away and the staff were always friendly and attentive. Rooms are generous in size and the TV has both 'free to air' as well as Sky channels, including several movie channels. Breakfast had many of the usual choices, plus if you have lounge access you get to order from the menu as well as the buffet. Cons The lounge for afternoon tea - don't expect what you get at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth (my usual 'staycation' location). It's all self-serve and the offerings fairly limited. Anyone could wander in and grab food/drinks as this was not monitored at all. As for canapes, the food offerings are bare. One hot dish and some cheese/grapes and crackers. Also, the invitation clearly states no children under 12, however, this was not policed. I was going to head back at the end of June for my birthday but have changed my mind especially based on the limitations of the lounge offerings.

I was really looking forward to my stay at the Sofitel however I didn’t particularly enjoy it and it did not feel like a 5 star hotel. My room was overlooking a noisy bus depot that kept me awake even with earplugs and oddly had the TV placed facing away from the bed. Room felt tired - dated climate control, a plug socket that nearly came off when removing my laptop cord, grubby bin and stained toilet bowl. Club Lounge just ok - I was expecting cocktails and hors d’oeuvres but got basic spirits, prawn skewers I didn’t eat, a few vegetables and a cheese platter. Unfortunately room service menu very limited too. On a positive note the bed was comfortable, staff were lovely and there was a Dyson hair dryer in the room.

We have stayed with you many times and this time did not disappoint The only criticism I have is with the club long for evening canapés The lounge can become extremely busy and it was very understaffed I did feel for Alfredo who served us for the four nights we stayed and he done his upmost to cope with how many people he had to serve and did a remarkable job. This maybe something to be looked at in the near future
