Probably a hotel stay to forget. As a loyal ALL Diamond member, I spent 120ish nights and about $60,000 in their hotels last year. My first visit to this hotel was the most disappointing hotel stay I’ve ever had. Our evening visit to Club Milleseme was a disaster with no food 20 minutes after opening time, no service as the only person on duty was trying to find more food and an ignored dress code had some clown with a pile of food on his plate sitting in a bath robe and several patrons in gym shorts and singlets. My club invitation asked that I respect the “smart casual dress code”. The advertised hors devours consisted of 1 cracker, a few cubes of cheese and some grapes. An unchecked entry to the club had people walking in from outside, filling plates with the little food that was left and leaving to have their kids scoff these in an adjacent room. Our bedroom had 2 blinds that didn’t operate and a towel that appeared to have been run through a shredder. The club breakfast was as uninspiring as the evening session with the exception of zero patrons. This is meant to be a premium experience. I will spend another 6 weeks of this year in New Zealand on business travel and not a single night will be wasted here. I’d recommend everyone heads to the SØ a little further up the road. To the Sofitel bunch, drop a star as the 5 you advertise is misleading, look after your premium guests because we won’t return with service and quality that is sub par. My 1 star is generous.

We had a great stay at the Sofitel Auckland, marking our second visit. The staff remain the highlight — professional, friendly, and attentive throughout. The views of the harbor from the rooms are breathtaking and make the stay truly special. Pros: • Staff service continues to be exceptional. • Amazing harbor views from the rooms. • Stylish rooms and comfortable accommodations. Cons: • Food became repetitive quickly; the menu hasn’t changed since our last visit. • Lounge is still lacking, with limited offerings and atmosphere. • Loyalty amenity for Diamond members was disappointing. Overall: Sofitel Auckland remains a lovely option for its service and harbor views, but the lack of menu variety, underwhelming lounge, and disappointing loyalty perks reduce the overall experience. Still a solid choice if staff service, views and location are priorities.

This is a very good Sofitel by world standards. It is not as good as Park Hyatt nearby but the price at Sofitel is much lower than PH so the comparison is not fair; for its price range there is a lot to like about this Sofitel. The hotel was 100% full for our dates so I did not expect a suite upgrade as Accor Diamond, but they gave us a small upgrade anyway. I am not a fan of hotels in U-shape because of lack of privacy but otherwise our room was nice. I try to avoid Accor lounges in France because they are low quality and overcrowded (France being home base for Accor) but as a general rule, the farther away we get from France, Accor lounges improve. NZ is far enough. The lounge was stylish and quiet with enough food for small meal. Drinks were not the best but the rum from St.Croix (USVI) was nice. The one negative is that the lounge only opens at 14:30; even if we don't want breakfast in the lounge I find value in having a lounge available in the morning or mid day. Breakfast was equally quiet as the lounge despite the hotel being full which was unexpected and it was a nice combo of menu + buffet. I might be interested in staying at Sofitel SO next time to compare but for sure Sofitel Viaduct Harbour is a fine choice.

We had a club room and chose valet parking. When you first arrive it seems quite dark and soulless and there isn’t a conventional reception. Our room wasn’t quite ready so we went to the cafe, which was noisy, so we opted for lunch in the restaurant which was really fresh and nice with friendly service. Our room was small but a harbour view with a Juliette balcony. As others have said, the aircon controls are very iffy and the rooms are freezing, we opened the balcony door for a bit of warmth. The room and bathroom were clean and the bed was really comfortable. We checked out early on the last day and had breakfast, the staff there were really nice and the food was pretty good. During our stay we did try the club lounge and that was also good with various wines and some hot meals as well as canapés. After we checked out we were billed for a room bar charge in error, this was disappointing as they didn’t email us we just saw it on our banking app, it took two emails and a customer services chat to finally get a refund. We would stay here again, but it’s not the best Sofitel we have visited.

We only stayed one night but it was so memorable. The beautiful staff from the La Maree restaurant for both dinner and breakfast were remarkable. They made my family including my 3 month old feed welcome and appreciated. Special shout out to Winston from the Breakfast service.
