We booked the Sofitel for 4 nights. I was at the RNCGP conference at the convention center. Check in was smooth and efficient. We were briefed on what our booking included. The Millesime Lounge is just adjacent to the Reception and on the ground floor. The Hotel is in a beautiful location on the water front and we were lucky with the weather. We were assigned a room close to the lifts but was thankfully quite: 4011. It was just above the cafe on the ground floor so can wake you up with staff dragging or stacking tables and chairs. Fortunately we were up early to get breakfast and get to the conference. The information on the website and the information sheet for Milessime Club access is not up to date. The Afternoon tea starts earlier than stated 2.30 pm vs 3 pm and the evening drinks and canapes goes through till 8.30 pm which is 3 hours. This is nice. The Room was well appointed and clean with excellent amenities that one would expect from the Sofitel brand. The overall experience was excellent: Specifically the Breakfast in the main restaurant was of a very high standard with an A la carte menu to choose from as well as a balance Buffet where the ingredients were obviously fresh. The specialty croissant corner was excellent. The service from Xavier on 3 of the 4 mornings and Tessa was noteworthy. Unobtrusive but attentive. Thank You. The coffee was excellent every day! The Lounge was understaffed and less than what we have experienced at other Sofitels we have stayed at this year. Alfredo and Angela, Anna and Tiffany did work hard but one person making sure that the food was refilled and serving drinks just did not work very well. The Wines and spirits sitting on the back counter in a cluster means one has to ask what is available and then wait for it to be made or served. Many of the Sofitels allow the White and red wine to be self service and only spirits and cocktails are served by the waiting staff. The Wide screen TV playing a per-recorded scene on a loop which was overtly AI generated was annoying and kitsch, and diminished the relaxed mood in the space. One would think there are many beautiful landscape videos of New Zealand that could be adopted to showcase the wonderful place New Zealand is .

Had a great 2 nights at this hotel in July. Warm welcome and an upgrade room which honestly didn’t feel like a better room but maybe it was somehow as it was quite small. The food is great here whether breakfast or dinners and the club lounge was also really good being open from 5:30 to 8:30 pm as when coming from work it’s hard to be there at 5:30 on any night so the extra time was nice. Would stay again when the rates are good.

Reto We would like to congratulate you on having, we think, the best Sofitel in the Asia/Pacific Region. All the staff at your hotel are the most friendliest and helpful we have experienced in some time and that is a credit to you and your management staff. We loved the restaurant and had dinner there on four nights during our stay. The rooms were clean and roomy good bathrooms good views. The hotel is well located close to other restaurants and Auckland CBD Once again please thank all your staff on our behalf and we very much look forward to seeing you all again in December Glenn and Anne Robertson
