Refined Hospitality

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 8 hours ago

This hotel exceeded my expectations. The building has been renovated to JW Marriott standards with luxury design and high-end finishes. Most impressive is the remarkable service offered in all areas of the hotel. I found everyone to be attentive, thoughtful, and responsive to my requests. The housekeeping team maintains immaculate standards. The cleanliness and service uniformity were obvious and immaculate. The breakfast buffet was bountiful and offered both Western and Asian options. Starting on the second morning, the staff remembered where I preferred to sit. Impressive. What sets this property apart is not just the central location and refined hospitality, but the genuine care and attention to detail from every staff member. This hotel is among the best JWs and the better Marriott luxury properties that I've experienced, and I look forward to returning.

This is not a 5 star hotel by any means. I have to agree with another reviewer from Arizona. Place was damp and lifeless. The bar was the only exception for service and attentiveness. Changed days as pool was under refurbishment- charged us extra and the pool was still not open- after they advertised it was. We would never have booked had we known. The bed mattress was great. Breakfast - OML offered tea or coffee when only 1 at the table- had to ask for milk and go hunting for a teaspoon - really a teaspoon? up near the entrance if you’re looking. Bacon you could break your teeth on,over cooked and oily. Options not near the standard of overseas, nor attention. Left with dirty plates at table and not asked again for tea/ coffee. Staff looked miserable enough for us to wonder if everyone was being made redundant. No- you aren’t doing us a favour by staying there. Arrival and departure was a joke. Waved in like a road worker ( traffic control) on state highway 1. No assistance with porter for bags. Whilst we watched our neighbour room get assistance. Have stayed here before when Stamford plaza - shame as this stay certainly does not equate to the standard of the JW Marriott brand. We would prefer to airbnb then stay at this hotel again. You really need to up the performance on attentiveness and availability of items so we don’t have to hunt. Perhaps management require a trip overseas to see how its actually executed. The table isn’t even set correctly with cutlery- once again it’s a hunt fest. No bread n butter plates available do had to use dinner plate for a bread roll. Writing of such, the loaf bread was noted to be so difficult to cut people were hacking at it holding the actual loaf as the bread knife couldn’t cut the bread! oh imagine the germs !! We tried to be open and not critical but breakfast sent us over the edge! By the way, the toilet seat moves!

Even Better the Second Time – Our Favorite Marriott in the World

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

This was our second time staying at the JW Marriott Auckland — and somehow, this visit, which included three separate stays as we crisscrossed across NZ, was even better than the first (which I already raved about in my review last year). From the moment we arrived, we felt like we were coming home. The hospitality, already exceptional on our first visit, has somehow managed to reach even greater heights. We’d especially like to acknowledge a few incredible individuals who made our time here so memorable: Monika from the breakfast team, whose warm greetings each morning set the tone for our day. She often took time to play with our young child, like she did in the previous year, a personal touch that left a lasting impression. Chef Edwin and Tabani, who thoughtfully prepared several special meals for our little boy with a very particular palate — a gesture of care and attention typically exhibited by relatives or close friends of the family. Our regular servers Sofia, Kristina, Bei, Nao, Mon, Manjula, and Maria, each of whom brought grace, attentiveness, and a wonderful energy to every meal. They anticipated our needs before we even had to ask. What a joy to be served by them. The always welcoming concierge team — Lily, Lori, and Manan — were the first friendly faces we’d see with every arrival, consistently helpful and kind. We’d also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the executive and management team, who clearly lead by example. Kristina, Kayleigh, and of course, Yevgeniia — who keeps the trains running on time — all embody the spirit of excellence that radiates through every department. Their leadership is evident not just in the smooth operation of the hotel, but in the consistently warm and professional service delivered by every staff member. Across every stay, every interaction, and every moment, the JW Marriott Auckland has created an atmosphere where my wife, child, and I truly feel at home. Without question, and as a consistent Titanium Elite member with Marriott Bonvoy who has traveled the world, this is our favorite hotel in the entire Marriott portfolio — and that's saying something.

Beautiful Hotel and Great Location

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

We stayed here our first night after a long flight from the US. The manager was incredibly helpful and truly outstanding. Our room was not ready yet and offered numerous solutions and a couple glasses of great wine. The hotel is almost completely renovated and is gorgeous. We stayed in a JR suite it was very spacious, luxurious and comfortable. I would highly recommend this hotel and thank you to the manager for such outstanding service. The manager was a pro - just arrived from a property in Fiji and had only been there 4 days.
