Austin Proper Hotel

The Austin Proper is a spectacular stay. As an interior designer, I'm always so blown away by Kelly Wearstler's vision for this property. Every single space is a delight to be in-- beautiful but also cozy and warm and inviting. This is also a hotel that provides consistently high quality in everything across the board -- the food and beverage program is exceptional, the staff is friendly and always ready to help with any request, and our room is always clean and organized after housekeeping comes through. Don't miss the coffee at Goldie's in the mornings, and also the incredible bar there at nights. It's one of my favorite spaces in the hotel! I also love how the Proper seems to cater to so many different types of travelers. I met as many parents there with kids (which is how I was traveling) as I did young single people and business professionals. And everyone was having such a great stay! The pool is a fun hub and again, great for all ages. But if you are a gym-goer, you won't believe how nice their gym is. They have all of the latest and greatest in equipment, including two Pilates reformers, a Tonal, and a handful of Pelotons. There is also an incredible recovery room in the spa where you can alternate between the sauna and cold plunge. The hotel is downtown, so within walking distance of a bunch of great restaurants. Two restaurants I would highly recommend are Uchiba and Comedor. And don't forget to grab Juiceland while you are there! Overall, I really think this is such an exceptional hotel, especially at their price point. If you are on the fence, don't be -- just book it! 5 stars, no notes!

We were treated to prosecco while waiting to check in. The room was modest in size but well appointed. The Aesop lotion and soap along with the shower were decedent. The air conditioning in the room was great but oddly the hallways were always warm. Housekeeping was on point service our room efficiently while we can and went all day. The breakfast in the ground floor restaurant The Peacock was excellent but expensive. We only partook because it was included with our stay. Every night the bar was packed. It was clearly the place to be. The location of the hotel was great for our agenda. We were able to walk to great eateries all weekend.

Kendra was awesome!!!!! She was fabulous with our valet and helping us get our bags into the car. Very timely as well, we are very pleased!

Such a thoughtful space to relax in. Staff at the front desk and valet were so friendly and helpful. Bar staff was amazing, and make a mean dirty martini! Our room was fantastic, we wanted to go to Austin to check out the city, but enjoyed watching Austin from our balcony too much to leave! I would HIGHLY recommend staying here, and will be begging my husband to go back again ASAP :)
