The room I was given was right next to the elevator bank. I didn’t think that would be an issue but there were carts going in and out of the elevator and employee hallway next to my room all night. My room was only next to one other room and the that room partied and talked all evening. TV blaring and all. I stayed at the hotel for only one night and since I wasn’t able to sleep I would give it a 1 star review. I understand the hotel is older and charming but I can’t imagine ever returning after that experience. Hotels should be able to provide a comfortable room for rest. If that can’t be accomplished, it’s a no from me.

Excellent staff and service. Wonderful rooms that are very comfortable. Great location good for walking to anything.

Check in process was horrible - there seemed to be undergrads sitting at the counter who couldn't care less about the check-in process. I asked for water (which was complimentary) and they just didn't give it to me. The mezzanine floor couldn't more lifeless - I felt like I was in a ghost town. Never staying here again. Save your money and stay elsewhere. I am explorist with Hyatt and never had a worse stay

I arrived at the Driskill on Monday afternoon and noticed that there was no functioning internet in my room. I informed the front desk about the situation and they assured me it would be resolved. Tuesday morning: no internet. I again informed the front desk, was assured that they would contact their IT director, Nathan, and get the problem resolved. Tuesday afternoon: no internet. The problem persisted into Wednesday. The hotel manager, implausibly called "Texan," had no explanation for what was happening, no apologies, nothing. At 10 pm on Wednesday he offered to move me to another room--a worthless offer. No one ever reached out to me to explain what was happening, what they intended to do about it, where things stood. Emily Aracko, the front desk person, was also totally unhelpful--no apologies, no sense of urgency to resolve the problem. I departed on Friday morning, never had access to the internet at the hotel, a supposedly 4-star hotel. I have gotten better customer service at the Motel 8. I am waiting for the IT manager, Nathan Miller, to call me to explain why he completely failed to address the problem--and how it could be possible that a 4-star hotel in Austin, a high-tech capital of the world, can't provide quality internet service. Paul Borriello, the director of operations, also owes me a phone call. Their attitude was one of indifference, as if the hotel guest is the problem. I ran into a woman in the elevator who could not sleep the previous night because her air conditioner was making a terrible racket. The hotel refused to compensate her for the problem. Stay clear of this quagmire of unprofessionalism and incompetence.

The Driskill is a wonderful historic hotel with a great location. Just steps to some great bars and entertainment. The Paramont is just a short walk and has its own history
