Hotel Magdalena

We traveled for a wedding in Lockhart but chose to stay here because we liked the area better. We loved the vibe of the hotel and the proximity to everything. I will say that the king with patio room was smaller than we expected but we asked to upgrade/change our room at our expense and they were able to accommodate beyond our expectations. We ended up in one of the suites and it was really great for our family (two adults and a 3 year old). It was the type of room we would've stayed in before having a child as well - great for hanging with friends for the weekend. Highly recommend!

A distinctive hotel in a prime location for visiting beautiful Austin. The corner rooms with terraces are comfortable, though the limited interior lighting is a slight downside. Excellent cleanliness. Recommended.

Hotel Magdalena is a beautiful oasis in the midst of Austin with contemporary charm and is pet friendly. Note that it is a Hyatt hotel, and the telephone booking process is operated by AI. I called three different phone numbers before reaching what I believed to be a human the actual hotel. I was fooled by Jolene, a now commonly-known AI voice. “Jolene” mistakenly told me there was no block of rooms reserved for the wedding I was attending, so I missed an opportunity to be situated near friends. Huge word of caution: if you are booked in a room ending in 02, immediately ask for a different room. These rooms are directly across the alley from an apartment complex whose trash and recycling is loudly picked up daily beginning at 5am. Luckily, we were relocated from 302 (which had a shower with no threshold and a VERY hard to operate bathroom door). Our new room was nicer, but neither room had a dresser, so I assume no rooms do. If you are able to figure out how to book a room directly through the hotel itself, I highly recommend that rather than calling several numbers and speaking to robots that deplete our earth of resources and people of jobs. Great experience at the pool and with restaurant and bar staff and service!

Delightful setting and surprisingly peaceful atmosphere right off SoCo; pool was lovely, rooms very well laid out and a very comfortable bed. Attentive service and staff support. Definitely my go to for SoCo area from now on.

The location can't be beat. We looked at several Bunkhouse properties along South Congress. This had the best location and is tucked away from the main road. We walked for coffees and breakfast tacos daily and enjoyed all the Western Wear shopping options (Allen's Boots, Ariat, and much more). We traveled with a 12 and 10 year old and were very comfortable. The bed quality was outstanding. No noise, even when there was a vibrant wedding in the courtyard and party at the pool. Lots of neat things going on. They ran out of towels on our last day, so we literally had hand towels for the pool and wet shower towels by day 3. The water situation was a little odd, too, as we had to request cans regularly, but those were always available. This didn't bother us much. We will absolutely go back when we visit Austin next. Great value compared to comparable hotels these days.
