Hotel Magdalena is a hotel project from Austin’s acclaimed Bunkhouse in collaboration with renowned architecture firm Lake | Flato, located on Music Lane in the popular South Congress neighborhood of Austin. At 89 rooms, it is Bunkhouse’s largest hotel to date, and features four new, but distinct, buildings connected by exposed elevated walkways and courtyards, creating a treehouse feel inside the grounds. The property sits at varying elevations, an homage to the slopes of Barton Springs, and the lush grounds are planted with native Texas species including Bigtooth Maples, Redbuds, Meyer Lemon Trees, Yaupon Holly, and Little Gem Magnolia.

Overall ok experience, clean room, responsive and polite staff, well stocked rooms with towels and soaps. Not much to speak of in terms of food (empty mini fridge (they used to stock them), no free water). No in room iron or steamer (must request room service to bring up). No breakfast (they have a restaurant option and there are walkable options, but not much in terms of coffee shops if you're an early riser). No gym (they can deliver a peleton /yoga mat at request). A couple of wooden hangers fell apart on me. Wayfinding is straight forward but if taking the stairs down you hit a point where it's difficult to find a way down to the main lobby level so you end up taking their slow elevator down. Decor in rooms is a nice midcentury modern, but it also straddles a dorm room feel. Overall neutral on it. Acoustics s seem good, at no point could i hear neighbors; occasionally you might hear someone outside the room. no issues with wifi speed

Well located. Had suite with patio. Patio chairs were rather uncomfortable. Saw rockers in walkway in front of other rooms. Why not put "nicer" chairs on patio of more expensive rooms rather than hard dining chairs. Housekeeping never serviced room. When I called front desk I was told "they should have". At check out I asked if we had to ask for room to be cleaned...was told you shouldn't have to. Nobody seemed to really care about the subpar service.

Nice hotel in a great location, but disappointing experience. My room had a very strong, unpleasant smell, which hotel staff came to the room and confirmed was unusual and should not be there. Despite this, I was not offered another room or any compensation. The shower also had almost no water pressure. Great property and location, but very poor handling of a genuine room issue.

I booked through Chase Edit, and I got $100 of credits to spend at the hotel which I used on valet and two drinks, then I also got $30/pp from chase for breakfast so a total of $160 in benefits for one night I'll be back! One note though, our bathroom lights we're not working, I think it might have been breaker related. The atmosphere felt like a tropical villa very cool!

I always love staying at Hotel Magdalena as a staycation, since I live in Austin. Its like an oasis right off South Congress, so you are able to relax in the comfortable rooms, enjoy their beautiful pool surrounded by trees & then just few steps away are amazing shops & restaurants, including Summer House on their property. The food & drinks are definitely elevated compared to other hotels. I can't wait to go back!
