Reviews for Coquillade Village

Stunning!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

This is my review for the hotel. I wrote a separate review for the restaurant. There is one word to describe La Coquillade - stunning! As soon as you enter their long driveway, you are just amazed by the beautiful views. The resort is surrounded by grape vines that are used to make their own wines. This is truly a five star property. From the valets, to the reception, to the concierge, and the rest of the staff - everyone is so friendly and helpful. Our room was very spacious with a gorgeous vineyard view and a closet bigger than the one in our master bedroom! We were welcomed with a lovely note in our room (it was our honeymoon). The mini bar is available for free (once you empty it the first time they will charge if you need anything else). The property was immaculately maintained. Did I say how stunning it was? The room includes a daily buffet which was very good and their coffee is amazing! There are two pools - one heated and one not. The only wrinkle - which was in NO way the resort’s fault - was that there was a gas explosion in the area (not in the resort or its grounds). This caused an interruption in the region’s distribution system which caused the heated pools and the jacuzzis to not be as warm as expected. However they were still very nice and enjoyed them. The jacuzzis overlook the vineyards. The resort was upfront about it and contacted us. They made sure we had a room with a backup water heater. No issues in the room. We really appreciated their pro-activeness. The spa treatments were amazing. Our masseuses were friendly and knew what they were doing. We enjoyed the spa area every single day. So relaxing! Our thanks to the staff for making our stay special. Definitely highly recommend this resort.

awaits you in the middle of the Luberon....a perfect location to explore the area...check in was easy, Natalie welcoming......helpful...and friendly......the enire staff professional and extremely considerate...the property is large....rooms have been added to the original buildings...lovely pool area restaurant with delicious pizza...pool area very well done...evenings were "exquisite" sitting on the terrace for dinner watching amazing sunsets...drinks on the patio prior....food beautifully served and prepared with care....it does exude a resort atmosphere ....but for the most part this is kept mostly underneath the radar.... thank you each one at Coquillade for such a lovely experience.

An Oasis in Paradise

A beautiful full-service hotel with an outstanding pool, spa, and performance bike rental shop in a serene and idyllic location. The hotel provides outstanding cuisine including vegetables, wine, and honey grown on location by the hotel. The area is a cyclist's paradise, with great low-traffic roads and beautiful scenery. All this within a short 1 hour ride from the Avignon TGV.

Nice splurge for Provence villages

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Exceptional experience. Grounds and scenery are beautiful, with an expansive view. The resort is large, but still intimate. It's thoughtfully designed to feel like a little village. The pools are beautiful. (Note that the water was still chilly in mid-Sept, even though the large pool is heated. It's a 25 meter pool, so take goggles if you like to swim laps.) Things I would change: Mirror is too high in the bathroom. I had to stand on a chair to dry my hair. There were two other full-lenghth mirrors, but no convenient outlet. The bathroom lighting is horribly dim. I did my makeup at the closet mirror. No iron. I requested one, but was told I would have to send my items to the laundry to be pressed. It cost us 40 euros to be presentable for dinner. For me, this is a deal breaker. I think I should be able to pull something out of my packing cube in the morning and steam it myself. We had the most inexpensive room (still fabulous) on the ground floor. Easy access to pool. Soaking tub is lovely, shower is great with amazing water pressure. Very comfortable bed. I made use of the pillow options and got a firmer foam pillow. Staff was incredibly polite but still friendly. One nice touch is that they had our car waiting for us when it was time to go to dinner, as the concierge had booked the reservation. Breakfast buffet was plentiful and excellent. Note that eggs are an extra charge.

A beautiful hotel - but various service and operational issues detracted from the experience

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Coquillade Provence is a stunning property in a superb location. The landscaped gardens, vineyards, and elegant pool and spa areas deliver the rustic, high-end charm expected of a 5-star hotel in this part of France. Both Cipressa and Les Vignes restaurants are stylish, with excellent ambience — live music at Cipressa was a highlight. Unfortunately, our three-night stay in mid-August was repeatedly undermined by service and operational issues. Despite notifying the hotel in advance and then restaurant staff at every meal of dietary requirements, Cipressa served non-vegan/vegetarian dishes multiple times, with staff often unsure what we could eat. Complaints were met with cursory apologies and no real corrective action. Les Vignes offered a vegan menu, but it was (at best) basic — lukewarm tofu on vegetables was the best option. Cipressa had no mains, and breakfast offered even less. For a hotel where daily spend can easily exceed €1,000, guests should expect Michelin-level plant-based dishes (with artisan vegan cheeses, etc.). Vegetarians and vegans are left feeling VERY short-changed. The sommelier at Les Vignes was a welcome exception. We were frequently told restaurants were “fully booked,” yet they never exceeded 50–65% capacity. New slots often 'appeared' on the day, complicating planning. Reviews suggest this is a recurring issue, possibly linked to staffing? Service at the pool bar was of a low standard. Guests (including us) were routinely told simple orders — smoothies, coffees, salads — were “too complicated”. This perhaps pointed to understaffing in the kitchens and at the bar? The sauna was unusable until hours after opening, barely reaching 65°C at around 9am. After waiting in the spa bar with a coffee until it warmed up (it didn't) one day, I was abruptly asked for my room number and charged €4 for a *machine* coffee. Though minor, the manner and principle felt unnecessary. The spa itself is excellent, but the cold plunge could be cooler — it hovered around 10°C or more. In both of the rooms we stayed in, the air conditioning struggled to cool below 24°C, even after running all day. Housekeeping was generally good, but we once found fresh bedding still wet — explained as part of a crease-removal process, though the level of dampness suggested otherwise. Overall, the setting and design are exceptional, but repeated service and operational issues — especially around dietary needs — left us feeling very short-changed, particularly given the cost. A shame, because, if addressed, this could have easily become a regular destination for us.
