Set in an old mansion at the foot of the Palais des Papes in the heart of Avignon, La Mirande is steeped in secular history. This timeless refuge offers a dreamy, relaxing and authentic experience in a refines, 18th century-esque décor. With both a gastronomic restaurant and a chef ’s table, the hotel serves honest, living cuisine with respect for ingredients and humankind; a culinary hymn to land and its biodiversity. The hotel is named after the famous room in the Palais des Papes, La Mirande, where the Pope’s representatives held receptions for the city’s notables and visiting high-ranking officials. Behind its stunning facade, La Mirande exudes the sweet way of life of yesteryear. The twenty-six upper-floor rooms boast a unique décor, each with its own 18th century wall hanging plus all modern comforts are seamlessly integrated into the interior design as evinced by the "mirror" televisions.

Hotel and staff lovely. Chose to have dinner at the bistro and was served inedible veal. Not able to cut with a knife, and not able to chew. I pointed this out to the staff and via an email, and no one seems to care. The waitress (solo) offered to have it cooked more. That was not the issue. I am a rare/raw meet person. The chef should know.

We have now stayed at La Mirande 5-6 times between Christmas and New Year's over the last years. We have eaten at the Haute Table (highly recommended!) and the Bistrot and always had an excellent meal. Our room has always been excellent and the service top tier. Avignon is a magical city and La Mirande is an amazing hotel with a storied history... The only complaint I have, and I do not blame La Mirande, is getting to the hotel in our car was a bit more difficult this year. Apparently, the City of Avignon now manages the 'street gates' that move up and down to control traffic. When we tried to call in to have the barrier lowered (at both gates), there was no answer for a few minutes. It is quite frustrating as there were several cars blocked behind us waiting for us to be let in. I hope the City improves their service for next year, as we will be back!

The hotel is beautiful in person. The staff are helpful and hospitable. I loved the garden. It was so tranquil and pretty. I would highly recommend and would definitely stay here again!

The attention to detail, the architecture, the people, the food, the view… All was class and yet low key and comfortable.

Excellent experience from checking in to checking out. We booked the Arts Experience and thoroughly enjoyed the five star experience. Our breakfasts were fantastic and the included 3 course bistro dinner was outstanding. Unfortunately, we could not join the painting experience due to issues on our end but I would definitely stay here again!
