Surrounded by nothing but turquoise lagoon which melts into sapphire blue, the Maldives luxury resort island of Anantara Kihavah and its pure white sands rise up out of the ocean like a mirage. For centuries, this was where Arab traders sailing to the Far East took shelter; a lush paradise blessed by coconut, papaya and mango trees. Navigating archipelago to archipelago by the stars, the seafarers were also drawn by the riches of the ocean surrounding the island – where a prehistoric volcano sank back into the depths, leaving blooming corals within a house reef and a wealth of lagoon fish. Wishing to keep the pristine nature of the island intact, not one tree has been moved – as evidenced by the villas growing up around them. The design pays homage to the seafarers of old, fusing Indian Ocean, Arab and Portuguese motifs with indigenous materials. Located on the Baa Atoll in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Anantara Kihavah Maldives Villas invites you to imagine your own barefoot luxury paradise. Savour the luxury of space in your private pool beach villa or over water villa. Snorkel with mantas and Hawksbill sea turtles. Stargaze into the night. Dine on a deserted sandbank or beneath the ocean’s surface at this enchanting sanctuary

We had the most memorable and enjoyable holiday at Anantara Kihavah. The resort’s facilities were truly world‑class, and every detail felt thoughtfully crafted. The ocean and the undersea life were so amazing. What made the experience exceptional, though, was the team—their warmth, attentiveness, and genuine service made us feel cared for at every moment. Thanks to them, we had an unforgettable stay and a truly wonderful time.

What made our stay at AKV truly special wasn’t just the beautiful views or the stunning rooms — it was the people. We built real friendships with the restaurant and spa staff, and those connections are what we’ll remember most. At Sea & Spice, Ali always remembered us and greeted us warmly every time we dined there. We had many lovely conversations, and on our last day, Ali and Salah (hope I spelled the names correctly) surprised me with a special gift — something I had really wanted, which made it even more meaningful. I honestly can’t thank them enough. At the spa, Teepee was incredibly welcoming and kind. She generously gifted us beautiful corals and shells, which felt very personal and thoughtful. At Manzaru, Reji brought so much joy to our meals. He’s humorous, warm, and such a pleasure to talk to. We laughed a lot with him, and it was fascinating to learn about local culture and staff life through our conversations. Overall, AKV is a stunning resort, but what truly makes it unbeatable is the exceptional service and genuine warmth of the staff. They don’t just provide service — they create real human connections, and that makes all the difference.

overall hotel is natural and beautiful, some facility esp undersea restaurant and telescope are rare to find from other resorts. the beach and house reef are particularly beautiful. however the overall service standard and dining quality require more effort, if the hotel thinks they are one of the best in maldives. service is basic, not really down to detail, it is more responsive rather proactive, and guest service at room is basic, nothing impressed. food quality require big improve, not many live cooking station in breakfast, and overall taste is bland that i couldn’t remember which dish was great. given the price they charge, they really could do better.

This was our first visit to The Maldives and we will definitely be returning. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left our villa host Ifoo looked after us. He made the arrangements for everything we did from restaurant bookings to excursions etc in a cheerful, kind, caring and very efficient manner. Every member of staff showed us great care. Jenny in Plates and Sheila from the gym in particular. We loved the space and privacy of our beach front villa. The marine life in the house reef is very impressive. The underwater sea restaurant was a special experience. Disappointingly we didn’t get to experience the observatory. Having saved this to the end the sky was too hazy so it was cancelled. Next time we will book this earlier in our stay! We were on half board and as others have mentioned, we found any of the ‘extras’ expensive. We had a wonderfully relaxing stay on this beautiful, small island and look forward to returning. Thank you to Sasha and all her staff for helping to make our stay so memorable.
