I stayed at Coco Bodu Hithi in December 2024 and then Palm Dhuni Kolhu in December 2025, both times with an overwater villa. One thing I'll say is that if you've already visited Bodu Hithi, don't book Palm Dhuni Kolhu, or you'll be extremely disappointed. However, it is a good option for a first visit. Bodu Hithi ROOMS: Flawless rooms and room service, truly nothing to fault CUSTOMER SERVICE: Always top-notch, not intrusive, and there were never any misunderstandings. RESORT: The resort was large enough for exploring and daily walks. Nice gym. Snorkeling is decent, with a permanent resident sea turtle that can be visited at any time. It was legitimately perfection. DINING: The food offers an impressive variety and selection, with a lot of flavor. Your daily drink options were varied, used fresh ingredients (the smoothies were great). Downsides include the need to use daily resort credit or pay $8 for every bottle of sparkling water (not part of all-inclusive package), and the Christmas gala dinner was overwhelming and excessive. Palm Dhuni Kolhu ROOMS: The rooms are quite good, but note that the overwater villa pools appear larger in the photos (they're more like oversized bathtubs). We had 3 people, but were refused a third outdoor chair and sun lounger. CUSTOMER SERVICE: We found that, unless you are inquiring about something they have previously addressed, the staff will most likely not understand. We received a lovely Christmas gift: a hand-carved bowl, cup, fork, and spoon made of wood and coconut. Unlike Bodu Hithi, the staff was sometimes pushy and engaged in upselling (offering purchased wine to secure a better table, excursions, and other spending to be entered into a nightly raffle). RESORT: Most of the Christmas decorations were made from recycled dyed paper, which I loved. Another plus is that they have a turtle sanctuary on-site, and we were lucky enough to be there during a turtle hatching. Snorkeling was good; a lot of the reef is dead, but they are working to restore it. DINING: The food was the biggest downfall - it was EXTREMELY limited, and 90% of what you order comes from a live cooking station, so the waiting lines can be stressful, especially with inconsiderate guests. They seem to gear their menus toward clientele who want familiar comforts (i.e. pasta) instead of actual Maldivian, Indian, etc. dishes. Sparkling water was included. The drink menu had few options and was all focused on pre-mixed, sugary concoctions. Despite informing the resort upon reservation, confirming immediately before arrival, and then reconfirming upon check-in, they were not prepared for a vegetarian guest. The first day was rough, but the chef visited us, expressed that he too is a vegetarian, and made sure we had options for the rest of our stay. He would make dishes for himself and bring us portions to try, which was very kind. This is not to say Palm Dhuni Kolhu is a bad resort; just manage your expectations and understand the differences. It is a great option at a lower price point than Bodu Hithi.

I had to resubmit my review as it only gave 4 stars and it has to be a 5 for excellence! From the moment we arrived in Male we were greeted and looked after by an incredible team. Coco Palm is a magical island where you can enjoy a true Maldivian experience. The beach and sea life did not disappoint and swimming with Mantas with the lovely Rosie and crew was a highlight, as was the hatching of turtles. Food was varied daily and extremely delicious. Every meal we had was exceptional and Raja should be celebrated for his impeccable service. The chefs who cover the various food stations work extremely hard (thank you for introducing us to hoppa’s!) along with the Head Chef who regularly checked in with us and encouraged us to request anything we could not find. Naoman took great care of us in our rooms which are stunning. Christmas Eve was magical with so much thought and preparation, including the arrival of Santa and his elves bringing gifts for everyone. Each day was a different theme with gatherings on the beach and various experiences for all to share - the Maldivian night was great fun! We certainly won’t forget Bodu Mas 😂 Thank you to everyone we met, we totally understand why people return again and again. The staff are what make this island so special. We have already booked to return in May and can’t wait. THANK YOU for a super family Christmas break Team Coco Palm❤️

Coco Palm Resort is very beautiful and natural. The experience of always walking barefoot allowed us to feel even more connected with nature and truly live a paradisiacal experience. All the staff is wonderful - espacially Shaik who took great care of our villa on the beach, keeping it clean and always being kind, punctual, friendly, and professional.

Thank you to everyone who made our visit to Coco Palm truly memorable. The staff was absolutely amazing, really friendly and helpful. The food was excellent, beautifully presented and the choice was fantastic. The ladies at the spa were so friendly, and all of them remembered my name each time I went to visit, which made everything so special. I am sure that we will be visiting Coco Palm again in the near future.

Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu was every essence of the word 'paradise' and I had a fantastic time. We were made to feel as though everything was very special indeed and nothing at all was too much trouble. I must complement the chefs because they excelled themselves and I just loved the range and choice of food. Thank you!
