Our Habitas Bacalar is our holistic oasis for recharging the body, mind and soul. Set between the tranquil lagoon and the Mayan jungle, we draw energy and inspiration from this unique natural power source, and give back to it in equal measure. Lagoon A-frame tented rooms overlook seven shades of blue, with spacious earth-inspired interiors. Wake up to a myriad of hues as you relax and recharge by the shore. Or settle into a jungle room, which are tucked amongst lush palms, providing the perfect backdrop to reconnect with nature. Enjoy a blend of lagoon and jungle views as you unwind to the natural sounds of Bacalar’s ecosystems from your private open-air terrace. No matter your choice, the comfort and luxury of Habitas Bacalar is there to make your visit to Mexico a healing and exploratory vacation.

Staying at Habitas Bacalar for the 3rd time (3 nights twice and 8 nights the 3rd time) felt like discovering a hidden sanctuary. The lagoon’s unreal shades of blue, the peaceful remoteness, and the beautifully designed A-frame tents make it easy to fully disconnect and slow down. The beds are incredibly comfortable as are the sheets and pillows. From sunrise paddleboarding to nourishing, locally sourced delicious meals and deeply calming wellness experiences, everything feels intentional, grounding, and truly special. The staff is incredibly warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. I will definitely go back to this magical place.

Peaceful, gorgeous, excellent healthy food, boho chic, friendly staff, undiscovered gem. This is a quiet resort, not for partying. The lagoon is fantastic, great swimming.

Our Habitas Bacalar is one of the most peaceful hotels I’ve ever experienced. The setting on the Bacalar lagoon is simply magical – everything here is still, calm, and beautifully secluded (about 10 minutes from town). Rooms & Service: The hotel kindly upgraded us to a lagoon-facing room for our anniversary celebration, and I highly recommend booking these if available. While all rooms are identical in format and comfort, the lagoon-facing ones are positioned closer to the water, giving you stunning lagoon views right from your room – especially beautiful at sunrise when you pull back the curtains. The jungle-facing rooms require you to be on the deck or sun lounges to enjoy the lagoon views. Rooms are comfortable and housekeeping is good. Food: Breakfast is included and genuinely impressive – you receive a hot drink, juice, a small starter (fruit or chia pudding or toast), followed by an à la carte selection of mains including chilaquiles, shakshuka, Turkish eggs, avocado toast with poached egg, acai bowl, banana pancakes, and more. All are good quality and decent portions. Lunch offers a good selection and is perfectly pleasant, though taste wise nothing particularly stands out. With more free time in the evenings to explore, we found ourselves drawn to the excellent dining options in town for dinner – we highly recommend hiring a car for easy evening access to Bacalar but taxis are also easy. For lunch, we enjoyed a nice salad at Arugula and a great burrito at Mi Burrito. For dinner, Nixtamal, La Playita, and La Cabanita were standout options, and for excellent local style tacos, Taqueria Silveria is a must-try (the enchiladas were great). Amenities & Activities: Complimentary paddleboards are a wonderful touch – the lagoon is very calm in the mornings, perfect for a peaceful paddle. The scheduled activities are nice additions; I particularly enjoyed the meditation and watercolor classes. The spa offers a good rainy day activity (we each had 90-minute massages), though it was pleasant rather than exceptional. The Setting: The natural beauty here is remarkable – abundant birds, more butterflies than you’ll typically see anywhere, and a genuinely tranquil atmosphere. This is the real selling point: the calmness and magic of the place itself. Considerations: The property has stairs and some uneven paths, so it may not be ideal for those with mobility concerns. Service is friendly but could be more proactive. You’ll receive WhatsApp details for reception and the wellness center upon arrival, along with free Wi-Fi. Bottom Line: Excellent value for money and a truly special place. The serenity and natural beauty of Our Habitas Bacalar make it a memorable retreat. Would definitely return.

From the moment we stepped foot on the property, it felt like home. Premium but with nature. The perfect blend. The staff were fantastic. The services perfect. The cabin was amazing, the bed was incredibly comfortable as were the sheets and pillows. The outdoor shower was sooooo nice, amazing water pressure. The whole package was great, only wish we had chosen to stay at lease one or two more days and spend more time on property instead of doing activities. Highly recommend and we will be back for another visit for sure.
