Grand Resort Bad Ragaz

I recently ordered the CHF 50 Swiss Wagyu Burger at the Lobby Lounge terrace of the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz. Unfortunately, it was a considerable disappointment. The burger was dry, overcooked and lacked the juiciness and rich flavour I would expect from Wagyu beef. At the time, I genuinely wondered whether this was simply the nature of the particular Wagyu product being used. What happened afterwards was quite revealing. I contacted the Swiss producer whose Wagyu burgers are supplied to the resort. They were extremely helpful and kindly invited me to collect some of their burger patties so that I could try the product myself. I prepared one at home. The burger was exceptionally juicy, full of flavour and genuinely delicious – exactly what I had originally expected from a Wagyu burger. For me, that experience strongly suggests that the problem was not the quality of the Swiss Wagyu beef, which I found excellent, but the preparation of the burger I was served at the Grand Resort. I appreciate that any kitchen can have an off day, but at CHF 50 for a burger, the execution should be considerably better. The quality of the underlying product deserves it.

Bad Ragaz certainly lived up to our expectations. Gorgeous hotel inside and out with many very nice to upscale food options and a tremendous staff right from the moment you arrive. The hotel grounds are lovely and the interior seems to have undergone a recent renovation. The rooms are beautiful with a modern fit and finish. All the staff were very helpful. The morning after we checked in, our doorman noticed us heading into breakfast and came over to the breakfast receptionist to say good morning AND to let her know our room number. It’s amazing that he remembered us and our room given the size of the hotel. That really says something!

Luxury facilities and architecture of hotel and wellness areas. Nevertheless casual. The staff is extremely nice and here to fulfill your wishes.

We had a beautiful room with a balcony and view of the grounds. Once we were settled we went down to the bar since the hotel gave us coupons for any free drink we wanted. It was the same place that we had dinner and breakfast during our stay. All was very good. It was a short walk through the property to the town.

I spent my birthday at the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz and really enjoyed it. The hotel has a calm, elegant feel, and the spa is the highlight — beautiful design and very relaxing. Breakfast was also good, with plenty of fresh options. Overall, a great experience and a perfect place for a special occasion. I’d definitely come back
