Some 1,200 miles off the coast of southeast Africa, the isle of Mauritius awaits your presence with impossibly blue waters and miles of serene beaches. On the island's northwest side lies the award-winning luxury of Angsana Balaclava Mauritius resort. With its setting on Turtle Bay, this exotic getaway is designed to reflect the island's diverse culture, inspired by Oriental, African, and Occidental heritages. Let the subtropical atmosphere in, with your suite's floor-to-ceiling windows and expansive private veranda, and enjoy modern furnishings and opulent touches like hardwood flooring, flat-panel televisions, soaking tubs, and cozy areas to sit and relax. Many suites offer private pools, and views range from colorful gardens to panoramic ocean vistas. The resort's two main pools, an infinity edge lap pool and a seawater lagoon pool, are surrounded by plush sun loungers, ideal for days dreaming in the sun. Further unwinding calls for a trip to the award-winning Angsana Spa, which offers a range of holistic wellness experiences with a staff formerly trained at Banyan Tree Spa Academies. Sink into this sensational place, and reel in the pleasures of Angsana Balaclava Mauritius.

The Bad: 1. Worst check-in experience: At the time of booking, certain complimentary services were promised, but these were outright denied during check-in. The staff was cold, unhelpful, and showed no willingness to acknowledge or resolve the issue. 2. Misleading “partial sea view”: The room was sold as having a partial sea view, but there was practically no sea visible. The view was mostly other rooms and trees, with a negligible glimpse of the sea at best. 3. Room change handled poorly: When we requested a room change within the same category for a better view, it was first denied citing availability issues. Later, we were told it could be done—but only with an extra charge. 4. Warm private pool not warm: We had specifically booked a warm private pool, but the temperature was clearly not warm enough. The staff refused to adjust or improve it. 5. Private” pool isn’t truly private: The private pool lacks proper privacy, something that is not clearly or honestly communicated at the time of booking. 6. Overtly money-driven mindset: The overall attitude of both the hotel and staff felt focused on extracting more money rather than ensuring a good guest experience. 7. Beach maintenance: The beach area could be significantly cleaner. Shoreline upkeep is lacking and could easily be improved. The Good 1. The property itself is visually good. 2. The restaurant staff was polite and helpful, especially Sonah. Conclusion I would not recommend booking or staying at Le Jadis Beach Resort & Wellness. You will almost certainly find better options in Mauritius that offer warmer hospitality and better value for money. The entire experience felt cold and unwelcoming—very similar to what we experienced earlier at Paradise Cove Boutique Hotel.

It was the most beautiful, amazing, and best vacation I have ever had in my entire life. Everything was more than perfect. The staff and everyone there were so friendly and helpful. I can more than highly recommend Mauritius, and especially the hotel. Hopefully, we’ll see each other again soon! ;)

I booked a stay at Le Jadis for my parents’ anniversary, expecting a premium experience based on what was advertised and confirmed by email. Unfortunately, the service was far below what was promised. First, my booking confirmation clearly stated that a complimentary house champagne would be offered. This was an important part of the celebration, yet it was never provided — even after I asked about it. For a premium all-inclusive resort, failing to deliver an advertised inclusion is unacceptable. Second, I booked a private pool suite for my parents, but the room given was not private at all. It was directly next to a walkway where guests constantly passed by. There was no sense of intimacy or privacy, and I had to request a room change myself. This should not happen when paying for a private category room. Finally, I had emailed the hotel in advance to arrange a room decoration for the anniversary, and they confirmed they would do it. However, when I arrived, the staff said they were not aware of any request. The decoration was only done after dinner, which completely defeated the purpose of surprising my parents upon arrival. Overall, the property is beautiful, but the service and communication were extremely disappointing. Too many promises were not delivered: missing champagne, no privacy in the “private” pool suite, and forgotten anniversary arrangements. For a special occasion, this was not the experience I expected at all. The food was genuinely delicious, and a special thanks to the waiter Yuvneesh who was extremely kind and attentive — he was the highlight of the service.

The wooden floors in our partial sea view villa were very creaky and made it difficult for someone to sleep if their partner was walking to the restroom in the middle of the night. The beach is full of coral/rocks, so you cannot enter the water barefoot. Highly recommend wearing aqua shoes to avoid injury (a guest cut her foot on a rock while we were staying there). There was no food/beverage service offered on the beach, although there is a beachfront restaurant you can order from and take with you to the lounge chairs. It would be more convenient to have that service readily available directly from the lounge chairs. Housekeeping could do a better job at refreshing rooms each day. We had to request face towels and was told housekeeping does not open until 7:30am, but we were leaving at 6:45am for an excursion. The minibar was also short on supplies our second day, which was included in our all-inclusive package, but housekeeping forgot to refresh it. Additionally, the location is far away from the main excursions and tourist attractions (up to 1.5+ hour drive in traffic). The north side of the island does not have a lot of attractions, so you will spend up to $120+ USD per day on transportation, depending on where you want to go. The heated private pool was great, and our room was spacious and pretty. Great soft pillows and bedding, and a pillow menu if you want to change them out. The menus at the restaurants NEVER change...so you may get bored with the food options if staying more than 4 days. Staff were great, courteous, and accommodating. Great spa with lots of options and amenities to enjoy, but the sauna and hydro-spa pool are located outside and visible to everyone...so be prepared to wear a bathing suit if you're used to having the option to be nude in the sauna). Glad we came and experienced Le Jadis. However, when we return, we will stay on the south or east side of the island.
