Reviews for Banyan Tree Ungasan

Fabulous hotel, and fabulous staff

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

One of the best hotels we've stayed at. We were unsure where to stay at first and we chose the Umana because of reviews etc. It's been a perfect stay. Apart from the weather the first 2 days, which is out of their control it was all 5 star. You have a staff on WhatsApp who's dedicated to your villa. The staff in general were all excellent. They were all extremely helpful and although I can't name everyone, we have to thank Tofik, Taufan (Mohammed), Yulisa and Lofan, and all the chefs including Edi As we required Halal food, the chefs made sure we had what we wanted, and they went out of their way to make us things sometimes that weren't on the menu. They also always came and asked us how each meal was after. The facilities are great, the villa pool is around 10m, and you also get a jacuzzi. The rooms and the bathrooms are all very spacious. The gym was well equipped and the main pool was a good size. There were only 2 things which I would say is the downside, but it's nothing major. 1. The hotel is located in the south and most of the restaurants that we wanted to eat or places we wanted to visit were more near the central part or further up. Google estimated an hour, so we never bothered. 2. The beach if you're into beaches is down the cliff, there is a shuttle that gets you there and Ummana has their own large size area with a pool, but I think anyone can come and pay and use the place, and the actual beach is not private. So, again it's not something that affected us but just a pint of note.

A Blissful and Memorable Stay at Umana Bali for Our Son’s First Birthday

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We recently stayed at Umana Bali to celebrate our son’s first birthday, and it was nothing short of amazing! The resort provided us with a truly wonderful and blissful experience, making this special occasion even more memorable. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the exceptional hospitality. The resort is incredibly kid-friendly—perfect for families traveling with little ones. Not only were we provided with all the essential amenities needed for a baby, but there were also a variety of fun activities thoughtfully designed for our son, which he absolutely enjoyed. A special shoutout to Gian Timang, our curator, whose service went above and beyond! Gian was instrumental in making our holiday perfect. He assisted us with all our activity and transportation bookings, ensuring everything was seamless and stress-free. On top of that, he catered to our every need during our stay at the villa, always with a warm and attentive attitude. His support truly elevated our experience and made us feel so well taken care of. We are so grateful to the entire team at Umana Bali for creating such a magical holiday for our family. We couldn’t recommend this resort enough for families looking for a kid-friendly and relaxing getaway in Bali. Thank you for making our son’s first birthday celebration so special!

Best hotel experience of my life!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Umana Bali is, without a doubt, one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. I’m a Hilton girl through and through. I've stayed at Waldorfs, Conrads, Curios, Tapestries, and more; but this LXR Collection property genuinely blew my mind. The property is impeccably maintained, but what truly set it apart was the service. I cannot thank the wonderful staff enough for making our experience so memorable. About a week before our arrival, they emailed to ask if we needed airport pickup. While Grab may offer cheaper options, I recommend booking through the hotel. Their driver was waiting with a sign, and our curator, Darma, messaged me on WhatsApp to let me know the driver had arrived. The driver also messaged me with his exact location. The car had Wi-Fi and cold bottled water which was much appreciated after a long journey. We arrived very late and, sadly, were too exhausted to fully appreciate the check-in experience. Still, they welcomed us with lovely bracelets, flowers, a welcome drink, and a small snack. Check-in was smooth and quick. I had requested a villa away from construction noise based on reviews, and they assured me the work was completed. (We weren’t disturbed at all, but it’s always good to ask.) They understood we were tired and, after a quick villa walkthrough, brought us extra water and let us rest. The villa was absolutely stunning. We were upgraded to a partial ocean view before arrival. The bedroom doors opened to a private pool, and there was an attached hot tub with a beautiful ocean view. The villa featured two toilets with Toto bidets, a gorgeous bathtub, outdoor and indoor showers, and a spacious bathroom stocked with amenities. Breakfast each morning was fantastic—a complimentary perk for Diamond members! I highly recommend the Umana breakfast. They offer à la carte options and a buffet with fresh juices, coffee, pastries, and a new Indonesian dish to try daily. We complimented the chef on her shakshuka, and she made sure it was prepared for us the next day. We were greeted by name every morning. Excursions: We visited the GWK statue and Uluwatu Temple. Again, I recommend using an Umana driver, as getting a Grab from those locations can be tricky. We got completely rained out at GWK, and our driver kindly ran to bring the car closer when he saw us soaked. At Uluwatu temple, our driver guided us around and happily took photos for us. Beware, the monkeys will steal your sunglasses and mobiles! Keep them hidden! For other local spots, Grab was super convenient. We didn’t use the on-property spa as it was a bit pricey. But found lovely options in the Ungasan area. Darma also recommended a great nail salon. Uma Beach Club is a must-visit! We loved the food, drinks, and ambiance so much that we made a reservation for a sunset table the next day. Unfortunately, that was the same day as our GWK excursion and it rained the entire day. We tried again on our last evening, but it was booked for a private event. I guess we’ll just have to come back! On-property dining was excellent. There’s a social hour every evening with buy-one-get-one drinks. The satay appetizer was amazing. We had steak and burrata at Oliverra that was top notch! The views from Oliverra are spectacular. We also had dinner at Commune one evening (I can still taste the Thai beef salad!). We also took advantage of the in-villa dining on our first day when jet lag was hitting. Buggy service is available throughout the property, though we mostly walked to enjoy the beautiful grounds. To Brian and Nick: thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your hospitality, the thoughtful gifts, and your genuine kindness. And a huge shoutout to Darma, the real MVP of our stay. Any little thing we needed, he was just a WhatsApp message away. We absolutely cannot wait to return. We sorely missed the Umana touch at our next stop in Ubud (but that’s for another review!).

Extensive villa with top-notch hospitality

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Despite being a 3-night getaway, Umana Bali had been able to give you the best hospitality for a short escape from the daily chores and routines. A fortnight before our arrival, the hotel team has already started their preparation by enquiring of our preferences and plans over e-mail. This has contributed to a smooth and tailored service throughout the trip. We flew in and out by red-eye flight, and we are much obliged to be offered early check-in and breakfast boxes respectively. Still, we were too early for a room to be available that we spent our time chilling at the beach club, 3 minutes ride by the hotel's shuttle. A room upgrade was given with the Amex credit card package. We were offered the Ocean View Villa, a spacious and modern room with a tint of Balinese design. Apart from the lush vegetation slightly blocking the view, the sight was spectacular from the infinity pool. A curator, named Ari, was assigned to cater our needs throughout our stay. She was attentive and responsive to our requests and enquiries which make our holiday even more pleasant. We would like to thank her for her professionalism that she still looked after our needs despite getting off duty. The catering was spectacular in the premises. Whether it was the central restaurant 'Commune' or the in-villa BBQ, the qualities were top-notch. We booked a Balinese BBQ for the first dinner and it is already an overwhelming experience. The three-course cuisine is an ingenious fusion of traditional Balinese and modern western cookings. We would like to take this opportunity to give credits to Wahyu the waiter and Budi the chef. Wahyu is a polite and knowledgeable young man who is always ready to serve while Budi is a seasoned and experienced chef who can turn grilling into culinary art. To conclude, one would satisfy most of his needs and enjoyed a wonderful vacation by staying in resort. We would definitely like to revisit Bali in future.
