Reviews for Conrad Bali

Outstanding Hospitality, Integrity, and Service

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Our stay at Conrad Bali was exceptional from beginning to end. The resort is beautiful, the grounds are immaculate, and the atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing. What truly sets Conrad Bali apart, however, is its people. Even before we arrived, we received extraordinary assistance from the Reservations team. I would like to sincerely thank Ms. Wiwik, Ms. Yanti, Ms. Parahita, and Ms. Aurora for their patience, professionalism, and outstanding customer service. We had several reservation changes and special requests, and they handled every detail with warmth, efficiency, and genuine care. They made us feel like valued guests before we even checked in. One experience, in particular, reflects the character of this hotel. On the morning of our departure, I intentionally left a cash gratuity for the Housekeeping Team. Believing I had accidentally forgotten the money, they left a handwritten note asking me to place it safely in the room’s deposit box. Their honesty and integrity were deeply touching. When I later explained that the money was intended as a thank-you for their wonderful service, I was even more impressed by their professionalism and character. Experiences like this cannot be taught overnight—they reflect a culture of excellence. General Manager Marco Neukom and his leadership team have clearly created an environment where genuine hospitality, integrity, and kindness are part of the guest experience every day. My fiancé, my son, and I left Conrad Bali with wonderful memories and deep appreciation for everyone who made our stay so special. We look forward to returning and highly recommend Conrad Bali to anyone visiting Bali.

Great stay

Nice stay with a great swimming pool. Running along the seaside walkway in the morning was wonderful. We really enjoyed the spa and romance package. Special thanks to Mr. Mustika for quickly helping us when the bike chain broke during our ride to the picnic location. It was a bit noisy because there was a wedding party near our room. However, it wasn't a big issue for us, as the celebration ended at 10:00 PM.

Not what we expected from Conrad, and no one followed up

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

Conrad Bali has real strengths, but a string of small missteps and one serious service failure, followed by a week of silence from management, left us disappointed overall. On the plus side, front-line staff were consistently friendly, especially in the restaurants. Our suite felt a bit dated, and the shower was broken, but to their credit, staff moved us to a new room promptly when we asked. Beyond that, though, there were repeated small mistakes that added up. Not enough towels, not enough slippers, despite it being clear four guests were staying in the room. Each issue was fixed quickly when flagged, but the frequency became frustrating over a 5 night stay. The bigger issue was dinner at Suku Restaurant. We waited over 40 minutes for our starters, then watched staff place two plates of food in front of our hungry children only to snatch them back seconds later, saying they belonged to another table. We then waited another 10 minutes for bread, having told the staff that our daughter does not eat seafood and therefore the prawn crackers on our table were not helpful, whilst a table that arrived twenty minutes after us was served their bread first. Mains took over an hour in total. When we raised this with the Food & Beverage Manager, he offered a partial apology, but his tone shifted when he told us it was our "freedom" to write whatever we wanted online, which felt dismissive. When we asked if he could give us the contact of his supervisor, he said he would do so and would investigate. He then avoided returning to our table himself, instead sending back a captain (who was excellent throughout, to her credit) with his own business card as opposed to his supervisor's contact. He had also reassured us that our remaining meal at the hotel would go smoothly and that he would personally oversee it, since we would be flying soon after. He was not at that restaurant despite knowing our schedule. It was also clear he hadn't briefed his staff on our time constraints. We've stayed at Conrad Hong Kong, Conrad Singapore, Conrad Beijing and Conrad Shenzhen, and to be fair, this was the worst experience we've had across the brand. It's made us genuinely question consistency across Conrad properties more broadly. On balance, the room issues and small hiccups alone would have put us at 4 out of 5. The Suku experience dropped that to a 3. What brings it down further to a 2 is that we sent a detailed written complaint to hotel leadership, to two email addresses, two days after checkout, and more than a week later, we still haven't received any response at all, not even a holding response. We would genuinely consider recommending the resort if these issues had been addressed promptly. But right now, we can't recommend it without reservations, particularly the total lack of follow-up from management.

Mixed feelings with Conrad Bali!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 5 days ago

We have stayed at Conrad Bali numerous times over the past 25 years: the resort grounds are undoubtedly the largest and most beautiful in the entire Nusa Dua and Tanjung Benoa area. The extensive tropical gardens, the excellent location, and the genuinely warm hospitality of the staff are the main reasons why we return. Conrad Bali is a very large resort that caters to every imaginable type of guest: solo travelers, couples, families, business travelers, and wedding groups. Weddings are, of course, a huge business in Bali. The hotel also appears to have agreements with numerous travel agencies and airlines, which means that occupancy levels are often extremely high. Unfortunately, this creates several operational challenges: First, room turnover is extremely fast. In practice, housekeeping does not always have enough time to perform the level of thorough cleaning and inspection expected from a Conrad resort. Occasionally, rooms would benefit from being aired out for a night or even two before welcoming new guests, but the pace of arrivals and departures simply does not allow for this. Second, housekeeping standards can become inconsistent when the hotel is full. On several occasions, we had to wait until the evening for fresh towels. The quality of the towels also varies noticeably. Sometimes they are bright and fresh, while at other times they appear worn, greyish rather than white, and may develop an unpleasant odor after only a single use. This raises questions about either the washing temperatures or the drying process. Third, breakfast at Suku Restaurant can become chaotic during peak occupancy periods. The staff are absolutely fantastic and work incredibly hard, but the restaurant itself is simply too small for the number of guests being accommodated. An alternative breakfast venue is available, but unfortunately it does not offer the same quality or atmosphere as Suku. Waiting times for a table can range from 10 to 30 minutes during busy periods. Fourth, noise levels around the pools and public areas can be overwhelming. Conrad Bali appears to be focusing heavily on the family market, which is understandable from a business perspective. However, this can create a challenging environment for solo travelers and adult couples seeking a peaceful and relaxing luxury holiday. During the peak summer months of June, July, and August, the resort can at times feel more like a children's summer camp than a Conrad luxury property. It is clear that Conrad Bali has chosen to maximize occupancy and revenue, which may become a long-term challenge for the resort. The grounds remain the finest and most extensive in the Nusa Dua and Tanjung Benoa area, and the staff continue to be one of the property's greatest strengths. Unfortunately, this property does not come even close to the standards of Conrad hotels in Bangkok, Hong Kong, or Singapore, despite room rates that often resemble those charged by Conrad properties in those cities. However, the resort certainly has its own strengths: the grounds are extensive and beautifully maintained, the staff are genuinely warm & delightful, and we always enjoy our stay as long as we remember to avoid the most crowded and chaotic areas of the resort, particularly the pools and the breakfast restaurant during peak hours. Conrad Bali faces something of a paradox: it seems determined to cater to everyone, but is it truly succeeding in doing so? We are no longer entirely convinced that we are receiving the best value from our Hilton Honors bookings when we find ourselves wondering - time and again - what kind of room we will be assigned, whether the pools will once again be overcrowded during the two weeks we typically spend at the resort, and whether we will be able to enjoy breakfast without lengthy waits at any time after 7:00 a.m. We have come to the conclusion that, during the peak months of June, July, and August, any rate above EUR 230 (USD 260) per night is simply not worth it. NOT WORTH IT. At that point, disappointment becomes more likely than satisfaction, despite the fact that the staff do everything in their power to ensure that guests have an enjoyable stay at Conrad Bali. Conrad Bali remains a resort that we genuinely want to love and continue supporting: its beautiful setting, exceptional grounds, and remarkable employees keep bringing us back. However, we hope that management will carefully consider whether maximizing occupancy at all costs is compatible with maintaining the premium/luxury guest experience that guests expect from the Conrad brand. The resort's greatest strengths are still there; the challenge is ensuring that they are no longer overshadowed by overcrowding and operational pressures.
