Mandapa, A Ritz-Carlton Reserve

I’ve been fortunate enough to stay at many luxury hotels and five-star resorts around the world, and Mandapa is, without question, my favorite hotel experience I’ve ever had. What makes Mandapa so special isn’t just the stunning property - it’s the people. This stay completely changed my perspective on what true five-star hospitality looks like. Every single staff member seemed genuinely invested in making our experience unforgettable. Whether it was the team at the pool, breakfast, dinner service, housekeeping, or the incredible team behind the special Dinner Under the Stars experience, everyone delivered hospitality at a level I’ve never experienced before. A special thank you to our butlers, Tira and Caca, who were simply exceptional. They anticipated our needs before we even realized them ourselves, thought of countless small details that made our stay feel personal, and consistently went above and beyond. From thoughtful surprises and gifts to their incredible attentiveness and warmth, they made us feel truly cared for throughout our stay. They are a huge reason why this trip was so memorable. The property itself is breathtaking. Nestled along the Ayung River, Mandapa feels like a sanctuary. Every view is beautiful, the villas are stunning, the amenities are world-class, and the food was outstanding from start to finish. In fact, we loved the resort so much that we canceled some off-property excursions simply because we wanted more time to enjoy everything the property had to offer. What impressed us most was how effortless everything felt. There seemed to be an entire army of talented people working behind the scenes to create a seamless experience, yet every interaction felt personal and genuine. That’s incredibly rare.

Everything was excellent like locations, rooms were perfect , clean and with all amenities that you look for, they keep our room clean (twice a day room makeup), excellent service , great breakfast in the morning and all excellent restaurants where we had a dinner, Very quiet and cozy area . Kewin and Vanessa both were very friendly and helpful, they took care of us like a family,

Our stay at Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve was exceptional from start to finish. The setting along the river is absolutely stunning and provides a peaceful, authentic Bali experience. Food at all three restaurants was outstanding, with excellent quality, presentation, and service throughout our stay. What truly made the experience memorable was the incredible staff. Every team member was warm, attentive, and genuinely caring. A special thank you to our butlers, Kewin and Venessa, who went above and beyond to ensure every detail was taken care of. Their professionalism, responsiveness, and personal touch made us feel truly welcomed. A beautiful property with world-class service—we would gladly return and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Ubud.

My partner and I recently spent two nights at Mandapa, as part of our anniversary trip to Bali. Having spent the majority of our holiday in Uluwatu, we decided to visit Ubud for the first time and treat ourselves to a short stay at Mandapa. It ended up being one of the most memorable hotel experiences either of us has ever had. From the moment we arrived, the team made us feel incredibly special. We booked a standard room but were generously upgraded to a Mandapa Suite, which was without question one of the finest rooms we have ever stayed in. The suite was beautifully designed, exceptionally spacious, and filled with thoughtful touches, including complimentary treats and local produce that immediately made us feel at home. The standout features for us were the huge wraparound balcony and the stunning bay window overlooking the resort, jungle and river below. It was the kind of room you never wanted to leave. A special mention must go to our butler, Parmini. Her service throughout our stay was nothing short of exceptional. Every detail was carefully considered, every request handled effortlessly, and every interaction delivered with genuine warmth. She consistently went above and beyond to ensure our anniversary was memorable, and her attention to detail made our stay completely seamless. What impressed us most was the way the entire team made us feel recognised and valued. Everywhere we went, staff greeted us by name and took a genuine interest in our stay. Despite being a large luxury resort, Mandapa somehow created the feeling that we were the only guests there. It is a rare quality and one that sets truly exceptional hotels apart. The breakfast experience deserves particular praise. Having travelled extensively and stayed in many luxury properties around the world, this was arguably the best hotel breakfast we have ever experienced. The buffet selection was outstanding, complemented by a beautifully executed à la carte menu. The coffee was excellent, the fruit selection exceptional, and the variety of cuisines available was remarkable. What stood out most, however, was the attentiveness of the team. They remembered our favourite items and would bring them to our table without us even needing to ask. It was such a thoughtful gesture and perfectly reflected the service culture throughout the resort. Dinner at Kubu was another highlight. The setting alone is spectacular, with intimate bamboo cocoons lining the banks of the fast-flowing Ayung River. It creates a dining experience that feels both private and deeply connected to the surrounding landscape. We opted for the tasting menu and were blown away by the quality of the food and its connection to local ingredients and flavours. My partner is vegetarian, and the culinary team adapted the menu beautifully, allowing us both to enjoy the same journey through each course together. The staff struck the perfect balance between warmth and professionalism, making the evening feel both relaxed and incredibly special. We also spent an evening at the lobby bar, which offers some of the most breathtaking views in the resort, and enjoyed a couples massage at the spa. Set alongside the river, the spa is a tranquil sanctuary in itself. The therapists were attentive, welcoming and took the time to understand our preferences, creating a deeply relaxing experience. Both my partner and I have spent over a decade working in the superyacht industry, where exceptional service is the standard. We can honestly say that the level of hospitality at Mandapa is comparable to the very best service we have experienced anywhere in the world. What makes it so impressive is not simply the responsiveness of the team, but their ability to anticipate needs before they arise. The balance between attentiveness and privacy is exceptionally well judged, and every interaction felt genuine rather than rehearsed. The setting of Mandapa is truly unique. The resort's position along the river, surrounded by jungle and rice terraces, creates an incredible sense of place. Equally admirable is the respect shown towards the local environment and community. It is clear that significant effort has been made to preserve and protect this beautiful part of Bali while allowing guests to experience it in an authentic way. We arrived expecting a wonderful stay and left with memories that will stay with us for years to come. I cannot thank Parmini and the entire Mandapa team enough for making our anniversary so special. We will undoubtedly return, and until then Mandapa will remain the benchmark against which we measure every luxury hotel experience.

Couldn’t fault our stay here. The hotel is so excellently ran by the staff and the management team, who cater for and anticipate your needs so well. The villa was probably the nicest hotel room I’ve had the pleasure of staying in, with a fantastic view, and more space than you would ever need. The food was very good on the whole, and the service in all the restaurants was excellent. The tasting menu at Kubu was amazing. Absolutely recommend a trip to the spa as it’s got a breathtaking location with some great facilities. Highly recommend the rafting experience as that was wonderful. The staff are all great but special shoutout to our out host Caca who looked after us very well! When I next return to Bali I will be sure to stay here again.
