As a resort surrounded by the Ayung River in Ubud, a district known for its natural beauty, Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve captures both the magic of Bali and the serenity of seclusion. The charm of this hotel lies not only in its spiritual and cultural richness, but in the joy of simply letting go. Here, surrounded by verdant rice paddies and ancient temples, guests will find joy in escaping daily distractions while turning to more relaxing endeavors.

It is difficult to know where to begin, because our stay at Mandapa was simply exceptional from beginning to end. Mandapa is undoubtedly beautiful, the setting in the Ayung River valley, the gardens, the rice fields and the architecture are extraordinary – but what ultimately makes this resort so special is the remarkable standard that is maintained throughout the entire property. The cleanliness deserves particular mention. Our villa was absolutely immaculate, as was every part of the resort. Everything is cared for with an attention to detail that is increasingly rare, even among the very best luxury hotels. The entire property feels beautifully maintained, peaceful and pristine at all times. Breakfast was outstanding and became one of our favourite parts of the day. The selection is superb, the quality excellent, and we particularly loved the wonderful soup station. It is one of those breakfasts where you genuinely look forward to discovering something different each morning. The same applies to the restaurants. We tried the different dining options during our stay and would strongly recommend doing exactly that. Each has its own atmosphere and character, and the food was consistently excellent. Kubu, of course, is particularly special and an experience in itself. There was simply not one disappointing meal during our entire stay. And then there is the service. It is difficult to single anyone out because the standard was so consistently high everywhere: in the restaurants, at breakfast, at the pool, in the Spa, throughout housekeeping and around the resort. The buggy drivers deserve a special mention as well, always there, always friendly and gracious, and somehow contributing to the effortless feeling of the whole experience. The Spa is beautiful and wonderfully peaceful, with excellent treatments and therapists. Pool service was equally attentive, discreet and warm. Nothing ever felt forced or overly formal; things simply happened when they should. That, perhaps, is Mandapa's greatest achievement. Everything works. Everything is taken care of. And yet you never feel that there is a huge operation working behind the scenes to make it happen. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, we felt completely at ease and exceptionally well looked after. We have stayed at many excellent luxury hotels, but Mandapa is one of those rare properties that goes beyond simply being a beautiful five-star resort. It has atmosphere, soul and an extraordinary sense of place, combined with impeccable standards of service and cleanliness. From A to Z, this was an unforgettable stay. Mandapa is truly exceptional, and we would return without hesitation.

How do you even begin to write a review for a place that doesn't feel like just a resort stay, but a deeply moving experience? We had recently experienced a stupendous stay at Jumeirah Bali and honestly wondered how anything could possibly top it. But Mandapa is unlike anywhere else in the world. It isn't just a hotel—it’s an entire feeling, a true experience of peace and care that stays with you long after you leave. Our experience actually began before we even stepped foot on the grounds. We had to abruptly cancel a trip to Komodo due to high winds and reached out to Mandapa to see if we could move our dates forward. In the middle of so many harrowing, stressful conversations with travel providers that day, talking to Mandapa was like a breath of fresh air. They didn't just accommodate our shift—they honored our exact package and rates without a single hassle. Right from that first phone call, it was clear that everyone here genuinely cares. The pre-arrival team collects every little detail about your preferences, and they actually use that information to make your stay exceptional. We had mentioned beforehand that we loved mangoes and guava, and every single morning at breakfast, a special plate of fresh mangoes and guavas was waiting for me. And this was just one of the many special things that they do for you. My biggest piece of advice to anyone going: do not plan on leaving the property once you arrive. You simply won't want to. From the moment we arrived around noon, everything was beyond perfect. Our butler, Nessa, welcomed us with such immense warmth. Throughout our entire stay, she went above and beyond, anticipating needs we didn't even realize we had. From managing our dining reservations to packing us a sumptuous breakfast for a 5:00 AM departure and arranging a seamless check-out the evening before, she made sure everything ran like clockwork. The physical property itself is breathtaking. Ambar Bar makes you feel like you are floating right in the clouds, Sawah Terrace looks out over the roaring Ayung River, the Yoga Pavilion is an incredible meditative sanctuary, and the villas nestled against the rice fields are magic. We were assigned Villa 10, and I had initially hoped for 11 or 12 because 10 felt slightly less private at first glance. But over our three nights, we realized privacy was only ever a consideration while out on the deck. In the grand scheme of things, the villa was absolute perfection—the separate living space, the thoughtful design, the soothing sound of flowing water and fountains, the gorgeous bathroom, and that stunning outdoor waterfall bath. What sets Mandapa apart from every other luxury resort in the world is the people. Everyone, at every single touchpoint, operates with intuitive, extraordinary attention to detail. Whether at breakfast, relaxing by the pool bar (where they make an amazing spaghetti!), spending the evening at Ambar, or dining at Kubu, the service was flawless. They anticipate your thoughts before you even articulate them. I could get into much greater detail about the thoughtfulness and the way everyone went far above and beyond their call of duty to make us feel special and valued—but I truly believe that each and every person who goes to Mandapa experiences the exact same thing. It is a testament to just how remarkably well-run this place is. So do yourself a favor: don't overthink it, just go ahead and book a stay here. They truly made our 20th Anniversary special. Thank you!

We spent 5 nights at Mandapa with our boys aged 5 and 7 and it was one of the most memorable trips we've taken as a family. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome, and our butler, Tapsir, thought of everything before we had to ask. The setting is breathtaking. Waking up to the sound of the Ayung River and the view over the rice terraces never got old. Our suite had plenty of space for the whole family. The kids loved Kids Club which gave us time to enjoy the spa and activities around the hotel. Highly recommend!

My stay at Mandapa, a ritz-Carlton reserve was wonderful. The views blew me away, and I love that its it’s own village. The service was outstanding, and they couldn’t be more thoughtful. Everything felt personalised, thanks to Thira. She was amazing. The food and all restaurants are delicious offering breathtaking views everywhere, even from my pool villa where I had breakfast. Every moment felt special. Thank you
