Annual Couples Retreat at The Royal Sonesta – A Truly Amazing Experience!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 4 days ago

I hosted my annual couples retreat at The Royal Sonesta Hotel, and the experience was absolutely phenomenal. We stayed in the premium suites, which were spacious, comfortable, and beautifully appointed. The garden tubs were a highlight—pure relaxation! Our couples enjoyed full access to the sauna, hot tub, and pool, which added the perfect touch of luxury to the weekend. We also held on-site workshops and participated in couples yoga sessions, making this retreat both enriching and rejuvenating. The hotel staff went above and beyond to make our stay seamless and special. A huge thank you to Mr. James at the front and Mr. Tony for being so helpful with our bags and making us feel immediately welcome. Special shoutout to Ms. Terri and Ms. Danielle at the café—thank you for remembering my favorite latte and always having oat milk on deck! Ms. Michelle was a gracious and thoughtful host, always ready to solve any issues and offer helpful recommendations for our out-of-town guests. And of course, Shane Petty, the manager, is simply outstanding—he ensures that as a frequent guest, I’m always acknowledged and treated like royalty as a loyalty member. This place never disappoints, and I’m already looking forward to next year’s retreat. Highly recommend The Royal Sonesta for couples, retreats, or any special getaway! Nice hotel in a great location

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We just spent 3 nights at this hotel and we had a great time. We booked a room with a queen bed and the room was huge! The room had a pull out couch in addition to the queen sized bed, and there was ample space on the side for a table and all our luggage (the room was an L shape). The bathroom was clean and house keeping does a great job each day. The location was AMAZING. It is right across the street from the Science Museum and the Visitor's Center. There is a playground right nearby. The Aquarium is about 10-15 minute walk away. There are paddle boats for rent at the inner harbour. The zoo is about a 10 minute drive. The parking garage is easy to get to (although you do have to go through several doors so can be annoying with luggage and/or strollers). The gym was decent and the pool was indoors and warm. It's not a huge pool and it can get crowded in the evenings. The towels weren't replenished enough so you might need to grab some from your room. We did get a small individual sized box of cereal and it was $5! Insane pricing so would not recommend getting food at their coffee spot. There are a couple restaurants right nearby as well. We rarely took the car out and was able to spend our time at the inner harbour -- which is nice but there were groups of raucous-y kids riding bikes each evening that was pretty annoying. Overall the hotel and the location was fantastic. Will be booking again.

Disappointing Stay at The Royal Sonesta Baltimore – Not Worth the Cost

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend The Royal Sonesta in Baltimore based on my recent experience. While the hotel is situated in a decent location, the overall quality and service fall short of expectations—at best, this is a three-star property. Several issues arose during our stay, and though I won’t list them all, I will highlight a few key concerns. Most notably, the level of customer service was extremely disappointing, and the property appears to be poorly managed. Management was rarely present or responsive to guest concerns, and there was a noticeable lack of security throughout the premises. On multiple occasions, individuals who were not hotel guests were seen roaming the property—an issue that was only addressed after a fellow guest filed a formal complaint. Additionally, the hotel charges a resort fee, yet some of the amenities are not functioning properly. For instance, the hot tub was unusable during our stay—on two separate visits, the water was cold and clearly not maintained. Though it’s evident that this property may have once had great potential, it is in serious need of investment and improvement. Given the current state of the hotel and the cost of staying there, I would suggest exploring alternative accommodations in the area.

Beautiful view on the fourth floor !!!! A place to be proud of !!! Ahmed at the front desk was very kind to us !!!! The pool and hot tub are another draw to us !!!! This place is right across the street from the welcome center where you can take a tour by bus or boat !!!!! The historical tour was one of the most interesting I have ever been on !!! The tour guide Ian was very knowledgeable and would ask for him again !!!!

Very nice hotel!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

Me and my partner recently stayed at the Royal Sonesta and had a pleasant experience overall. The check-in process was friendly and efficient, and the grand lobby made a great first impression. Self-parking was easy, and the hotel's location in the Inner Harbour was perfect, with most attractions within walking distance. The room was very spacious and included a fridge and safe, which were convenient. The large bathroom was nice, although we would have preferred a shower cubicle instead of the shower/bath combo. Unfortunately, the soundproofing between rooms wasn't great, but the bed was very comfortable, and we appreciated the free bottled water each day. The hotel offers excellent leisure facilities, including a sauna, swimming pool, and hot tub, all of which were well-maintained and enjoyable. There are also other sports facilities available. The pool was warm, and the hot tub was a nice touch. The room had a large TV, but the channel guide didn't work, and the bedside plug sockets were non-functional, which is disappointing for a 4-star hotel. Although we didn't use the on-site bar and restaurant, they are available for guests. Overall, the Royal Sonesta has a nice, grand feel and offers a comfortable stay with some minor drawbacks. We would recommend staying here.
