Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Hotel

This was our second vacation at the Gran Muthu Almirante Beach Hotel. We had a great experience from our Check In with Elisbieta to our Check Out 1 week later. This is a well run and managed resort. All areas were clean and well organized. The staff are hardworking and kind and willing to help in every way possible. Food and drinks were abundant with a great variety to choose from. I highly recommend this hotel.

No water for two days now , no water for shower/toilet no water even for coffee. No water in the entire hotel. Everywhere outside the hotel there is water.

First time at this resort and definitely will be returning next year! Hotel staff are friendly and attentive. Room was overall clean. Water temp/pressure were the best I’ve had in the Caribbean. No issues with mosquitoes. Although I did have few insect bites not enough to ruin a trip. Food, was the best I’ve had for Cuba as a picky eater. X3 Pools were always clean. Lots of lounge chairs everywhere- maybe a lil challenging at the main activities pool where the resort entertainment are. I prefer the beach where I spent my days at. Lots of lounge chairs, no issue with that only that the palapas were taken by noon. Lots of shady trees too if palapas are not available. This didn’t affect me but needs to be disclosed the beds at both pools and adult section the covers needed a good wash… never saw them removed the week I was there. They are discoloured yellow from sweat/sunscreen. Yes you can lay your towel down but as in most Caribbean resorts, towel service isn’t always available therefore you may need to reuse the same towel. Beach it self is clean and beautiful clear water white sand, no rocks in the water or out on the beach. There are moderate amount stairs to get to the beach. Might deter those with mobility issues. Music, entertainment and sport activities available. Be warned:There are up to 6 locals in the water who work as a group begging for soaps/over the counter meds/ money etc… they may give you pretty conch shells in exchange. Oddly this was interesting to watch as they pretty much emptied the sea of tourists. Everyone went back to their lounges until they ‘finally left’ I felt as though tourists were being hustled by locals. I’m unclear if they use the items or sell on black market? There is also some locals who come on the beach property. There is a thin framed mother and preteen daughter walk along the shore multiple times and at some point the preteen is summoned by her mother to beg the tourists in lounge chairs. They also were seen communicating with the sea hustlers. On the other hand, an elder man with a visibly broken leg using crutches- he is inaudible ( I do understand Spanish) not sure if he is mute? He’ll use lots of hand gestures, he’ll yell at tourists to get their attention. I’ve seen tourists give money, drinks and he seems unsatisfied- almost upset with tourists who take from his land- just my feeling. There are also a couple of musical individuals who come by and play music which I felt were genuine. God bless the blind accordian singer. Finally my heart went a local woman with a baby who peacefully would sit along the shore with here baby, never begs in hopes out of kindness someone will offer food maybe even money. The last part of this review is not to about the hotel but to be aware that this goes on as not many mention this about the beach. I helped where I can- please help them with hygiene products, money etc. they are struggling…🫶🏼

One of my first ever trips internationally and i can say that im glad and grateful that i went to this resort because the people, food , views were amazing would definitely would come back for sure! I participated in the pool party games with the entertainer yairina ,the carnival , even surprise events they had!

The resort was amazing. The food was diverse and very flavourful. The staff was very accommodating especially the group entertainers. They did a really good job hosting the resort carnival! Especially yairina I will definitely come back again.
