If ever there was a way to compromise between cultural intrigue of Bangkok’s bustling streets and a relaxing retreat to one of Thailand’s coastal destinations, this is it: Anantara Bangkok Riverside Resort & Spa, a 400-room resort that presides over the city’s main aquatic artery. Chill out in dense tropical gardens at the edge of one of the largest outdoor pools in Bangkok before a day on the town, returning to a room outfitted in Thai silks and warm hardwoods.

I visited Anantara Riverside Bangkok again after two years. One of my favorite places in BKK. While the exterior may look a bit aged, it still feels elegant and luxurious. Most importantly, it offers a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. The breakfast and swimming pool are truly worth recommending. What touched me the most was the genuine kindness and warm smiles of every staff member throughout the resort. A special thank you to MINKY, whose hospitality and farewell made my stay even more memorable. I also truly appreciated JAE, who helped me with a smooth check-in and check-out, and gave me great tips about the resort. Except for its location slightly away from the city center, everything about this resort was absolutely perfect. I had a wonderful time and will definitely come back again. Just two small suggestions for an even better stay: 1.I absolutely loved the pool and wished it stayed open a bit longer — maybe until 10 PM. It’s such a relaxing space, and it would be wonderful to enjoy it in the evening a little more. 2.It would also be great if the shuttle boat to ICONSIAM could run a bit later. Extending the schedule would make it even more convenient for guests who want to enjoy the night view or dinner by the river.

The hotel is (normally) very good. But this tine at arrival there were renovation works going on which were not communicated in any way at reservation or afterwards so you could cancel if you don’t want this during your vacation (even on Sunday. You don’t expect this from an Anantara hotel. Other branches do communicate this fairly. So you have a choice.

I have been staying at Anantara Bangkok Riverside for longer then I can remember (20 years at least) and recently stayed there again in June 2025 for six night with my husband on our anniversary trip. As Discovery Platinum members our room was upgraded to a suite on the top floor which had my favourite view of the river. This is a beautiful suite with separate lounge, dining area, second toilet and wrap around balcony. We always book the room with the Kasara Lounge as this offering always adds to our stay with the peronalised service from Muse and the wonderful staff who welcome us with open arms every time we come back. We enjoy the nightly drinks and canapes, and these were as beautiful as usual. There are also a lot of other privileges that you can enjoy with the Kasara Lounge. As it was our anniversary, they organised us a lovely bottle of wine and a cake for our anniversary. The whole staff at the lounge will ensure you are well looked after. What is extra special about this hotel is that if feels like a resort in the middle of Bangkok. From the lovely hotel shuttle boat to get you in and out of the resort, the surroundings and the best hotel pool that I have encountered. So many pool loungers so it is not to hard to find somewhere to relax. I can highly recommend a day by the pool if you have the time in between Bangkok adventures. I also use the hotel gym daily and it is a well equipped gym with a number of cardio machines, weights, sauna, steam room. you are welcomed with water and a towel. Honestly its hard to fit in all the eating that could be done at this hotel. During this visit we went back to Brio for pizza, Trader Vics for some yummy seafood, and we had dinner up in the Avani+ for out anniversary at Seen. It was a perfect anniversary meal with seafood and a special bottle of wine while overlooking Bangkok. We also played some darts and billiards in the Elephant Bar and enjoyed the happy hour. The breakfast buffet is probably the best buffet I have encountered. anything you can think of is probably on the buffet, with live stations and a lot of Asian options. I believe there may be some renovations being done now but I am sure it will be back soon. Why do I keep coming back after all this time? I love hotels and have stayed at some amazing ones all over the world but this is still my favourite and it's a place of comfort. I have come here on my own when I needed a break, I have celebrated birthdays and anniversaries, I have brought family for specials trips. I have always felt welcomed and like I am at my second home. There are some reviews that say that the resort is looking a bit tired and perhaps that is the case but for me its standards are still high. I have so much I could share about this beautiful place but will just end with a recommendation to give it a go and hopefully stay for more than a few nights. I hope you love it as much as I do.

Fantastic location right on the river with free boat shuttle. Stand out feature of the hotel is the amazing staff. So friendly and helpful. Special mention for Hana on reception who settled our family in to our rooms brilliantly, taking time to understand our needs.

We enjoyed our stay immensely. The staff were all wonderful. The grounds were clean and well manicured. The rooms were clean with appropriate amenities. We utilized the hotel boat shuttle. We got there right after they closed down the main restaurant for the breakfast buffet and we ate at Trader Vic’s. I believe it will be under construction for a couple more months.
