I was in Thailand for a month mostly as a medical tourist after waiting to see a UK cardiologist for 8 months, such is the state of the UK's NHS, so I chose the Anantara for its location to the hospital I was using. Because of the travel uncertainty I had reason to keep the hotel's reservation manager, Kate, informed of my ever changing Airlines flight times, where each time, I reminded Kate I needed a soft topper for my suite bed which she confirmed. When I arrived in my room, I checked the topper and found it to be a very thin mattress cover and not a topper I had requested. So, I had to use the duvet as a makeshift topper and slept with a large towel as a cover for 10 nights to try to avoid waking up in pain each morning. The suite was ok as generic suites, go with a well appointed bathroom, and a 2nd toilet in the room's lounge, but it didn't have a table to eat room service and Grab food I ended up ordering from good restaurants in Central world, other than a work desk. My first night I decided to eat in their French restaurant, as I was interested in their different cuisines when I booked because I didn't want to go out to eat with me having a battery of health tests to do the next morning at 0830. I was tired and jet lagged where the wine waiter was overbearing and tone deaf as I don't drink alcohol. To pacify him I agreed to my diner guest having a glass. My calamari starter was dry and over cooked, so I asked for garlic or chili mayonnaise, and was told they only had normal mayonnaise. I thought a 5 star restaurant in Paris would have better options especially having been to Paris many times in 50 years of traveling. I also asked for salted butter, which again the 5 star restaurant didn't have. When I went to use the table salt to add to the unsalted butter, it was empty. I asked the wine waiter for the shaker to be refilled, but he was only interested in trying to get my guest to have another glass of wine which she declined. My fish was ok but had no crispy skin and seasoned poorly; the skin had almost disintegrated into the moist fish. My guest's small chicken was dry and over cooked where she ate little. We didn't bother with a dessert wanting to pay the bill and leave without fuss. Another server asked if our food was ok and I explained nicely why it wasn't. Then another female manager came to my table asking about the food quality where I said it didn't meet expectations, and that I had already explained why. She then was passive aggressive in pushing me to explain again. I just asker her to talk to her staff and that I just wanted to go to my room. The next morning I missed breakfast to go to my hospital appointment, and so it was the 2nd morning that I got to experience the hotel's breakfast. The bacon and hot European buffet food was cold. The eggs were cooked to order well, but the buffet heated food was very poor, so I kept to the uncooked part of the buffet for the rest of my stay. The afternoon after my hospital visit I went to the pool and ordered prawn Pad Thai being hungry having missed breakfast, and was not surprised that it was also overcooked with the noodles suck together in an inedible chewy mess. The prawns were not almost translucent but were solid and unpleasant to the point where I sent it back. The pool manager, Kom, was helpful in replacing the Pad Thai with stay chicken which was ok, but not what I wanted. Let's face it I expected a basic Thai staple dish to be cooked well. The street food is much better and 10% of the Anantara's cost. Finally, I went to the exec floor lounge and found that the canapés were rationed. They offer a mini main course canapé that you are only allowed one. Then there were several canapé accompaniments that you can have as many as you want, but nowhere near as appetizing as the main canapé: however, you have to wait to be served along with other guests, where in all the other 5+ star exec floor lounges you can help yourself without being restricted. Again, I don't drink alcohol so I left the lounge and didn't return other than to have breakfast of cooked top order eggs and their limited cold buffet offering, which is normal for an exec lounge. If you want a larger choice, you use the main restaurant. Many years ago I took very close friends to the Anantara in Chaing Mai for their anniversary dinner where the Thai food was very good, so was the main reason I chose the BKK Anantara. I did mention the issues I had had when checking out to the exec floor lounge manager also named Kate when she asked about my stay. I explained that I had suggested to Kate, the reservation manager, to contact me after I had sampled the hotel to discuss a further 10 nights on my return from Phuket, but she didn't contact me, and with the poor food and no topper, it would have been a moot point anyway. I missed revenue opportunity on the hotels part. To be objective, the hotel service was good, especially the pool and exec floor lounge managers, as well as the front door guys/bellboys who were friendly and professional, but I would never use the Anantara again. The spa massage was also decent and relaxing but at 5,500 ++ tax and service charge it was the only reminder that I was at a 5 star hotel. Had Kate from reservation told me they didn't have a soft topper, I wouldn't have booked the hotel in the first place. I had mentioned it in all my emails with her. As my review says I will not be using this hotel chain again.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to Chef Dome (Ex Sous Chef), Khun Rose, and Khun In for making our stay so memorable. Yesterday, we had breakfast, and there were many chicken dishes, which I cannot eat. I informed Khun Rose, and she kindly suggested that I check the à la carte menu for more pork options. Although I appreciated her suggestion, I still didn’t feel there were many suitable choices. She then escorted Chef Dome to our table. Chef Dome personally recommended and prepared alternative dishes for me, which was a wonderful surprise and truly exceeded my expectations. His thoughtfulness and willingness to accommodate my dietary needs made me feel genuinely cared for. Thank you both for delivering such outstanding, five-star service. Overall, the food was delicious. The only minor comment is that the Pad See Ew was a little too salty for our taste. I would also like to recognize Khun In at the Fitness Center, who introduced us to the facilities with a warm smile and excellent hospitality. Thank you once again to the entire team for your exceptional service. We had a wonderful experience and will definitely come back.

First time staying at this property and what a wow experience. It is a true 5 star luxury hotel with Bangkok’s best hospitality staff. Location wise - very convenient location, BTS (Skytrain) stop just a 2 minute walk away. Easy walk up to Chitlom / Erawan etc. Rooms are beautifully appointed. All amenities including Smart TVs. Bathrooms spot on. Service is outstanding across all departments. Nothing is a problem. Genuinely friendly. Loved the pool area - a true oasis in the heart of Bangkok. I used it every day - even just for a quick dip. Pool attendants amazing. The onsite Japanese restaurant is fabulous, so good I took clients there 2 days in a row. Overall this was a 10/10 stay for me on so many levels. Would love to return again soon. This is 5 star luxury at its very best.
