I've been staying at the Athenee both solo and with my family over a half dozen times during the last three years, and after our most recent stay, it remains a wonderful property with wonderful staff. However, after our most recent stay, it does feel that the property has lost a bit of its luster and a design refresh of the rooms is likely needed in the near future as it's slowly begin to show its wear and age. I'd refer to my earlier, gushing review of the Athenee regarding amenities, such as their wonderful elite lounge, fitness facilities, and breakfast offerings. Where I think the Athenee really struggles is tiering how it rewards Marriott loyalty. Recognition of Marriott Status is almost indistinguishable whether you're a Platinum or an Ambassador Elite. Everyone receives the same room upgrade (standard to "Royal") and the same access to the executive lounge. Despite having stayed at this property more than any other Marriott in the world, I've never once been upgraded into a suite. SUAs are limited to their basic suite and never granted. I've provided this feedback to their "guest experience and loyalty manager," Dominic Lowry. Unfortunately Mr. Lowry is entirely unresponsive via email, despite multiple attempts. On our most recent trip, we've started trying other nearby luxury Marriott properties, such as the St. Regis and Ritz Carlton, and based on those stays, we may not make the Athenee the only hotel we stay in (or recommend) for future stays in Bangkok.

From start to finish, this was the most relaxing spa treatment I have had . The service from the staff was great from setting the appointment to completing the treatment. Nana was absolutely great working the stress and tension out of my body with the muscle release treatment. Thank you all for a great experience.

Joining lunch with the family at Chinese restaurant Silk Road met Khun Marisa senior staff work for sometimes so happy to see the role model staff like her at this the Athenee. Food is always super delicious. We preferred HKG style duck and some dimsum trio. The hotel is quite busy at this time many guest come in and out. Services staff at Silk Road are es also excellent. Khun Veerapol at lobby took care our car and ensure our car is in safe area . Always love to be here . Great staff service

The hotel is part of Marriott’s Luxury Collection and lives up to its name. The Athenee has a grand entrance and we were wowed by the pleasing double staircase and its white, brightly lit and elegant lobby. Due to our Platinum Elite status, we were able to check-in at the Club Lounge located on the 26th floor and enjoy light snacks and drinks immediately. One thing I like to point out the Thai ice tea which can be ordered anytime while the lounge is open. Our room on the 23rd floor was at the corner and there is always a clean & fresh mint smell that permeates in the hallway. There is a beautiful pool on the 4th floor which we did not use but used the Fitness Center which although is not large has enough machines and free weights for anyone’s needs. The Rain Tree Café, hotel’s restaurant located on the 1st floor has many selections for breakfast. It tends to get really busy but the café is large enough so seating isn’t a problem. We take public transportation during our travels so we place importance in our hotel’s accessibility. The Athenee might not be next to the Phloen Chit BTS station but still in close proximity. Almost all of the staff are friendly, welcoming and ready to assist with any of our needs. Special commendation to the following – Mine (at the Club Lounge), Pranee (our room cleaner), Jason & Brink (at the Front Desk), & Jirawat, Narudon, Urkis and Chok (stationed at the hotel’s doors & are the first and last people we see when entering and leaving). A hotel is not only great by the quality of its property but also by its staff who make every effort to make their guests comfortable and happy with each moment of their stay. The Athenee Bangkok is such a hotel and we loved our stay!
