My wife and I had a wonderful 8-night stay at Kimpton Maa-Lai. Service is outstanding, especially housekeeping, which kept the room clean and tidy. We had a balcony on the 36th floor with a great view over the US and Dutch embassy gardens, with enough space for chairs, a table, and a rack for hanging up clothes. Our bed was very comfortable. Breakfast is excellent, though sometimes slow with tea, coffee, and other table orders. One thing I did not like was the cheese platter, which consisted of the same three cheeses each of the 8 mornings. Please make sure you rotate your cheeses and try to be a bit more inventive with your choices (we were spoiled in that regard by The Sukhothai)! Other minor things to improve on: bathrobes should have a pocket, slippers should have a less slick soles, guests watching videos on their phones during breakfast should be kindly reminded that not every neighbor wants to listen in (that one was actually super annoying at times (I said something myself once, but the hotel should enforce rules around etiquette), and pool service (towels and water) was always a bit late in the morning (I went swimming most mornings at 6 am). But these were all minor things in the grand scope of things. My wife and I would come back anytime.
