The Peninsula Bangkok

We loved our four night stay here. The location by the river was brilliant with access to the hotel’s shuttle boat to take us to the shopping centre and other nearby destinations. The hotel’s sunset mini cruise was a great way to see some of the local sights. Breakfast was the best we have experienced anywhere and the setting by the river was amazing. All the staff we interacted with were friendly and efficient. One of the reception team (without any prompting) even went to the trouble of obtaining a throat spray to assist with my reaction to the Bangkok air pollution. The concierge team were particularly helpful with arranging tours. A truly 5 * experience which we very much hope to repeat.

The Peninsula Bangkok — A Quiet Luxury Oasis in the Big City “A quiet luxury oasis in the big city.” That was my first impression of The Peninsula Bangkok. The moment the car turned into the property, the atmosphere changed completely. The large trees along the driveway, the calm surroundings, and the sense of privacy made it feel less like arriving at a city hotel and more like arriving at a private estate or a luxury resort. The property has a classic character rather than a contemporary one, but everything is exceptionally well maintained. Nothing feels neglected or dated in a negative way. The architecture, interiors, and facilities are all functional, polished, and thoughtfully maintained. There is a quiet confidence to the property — it does not need to be flashy to feel luxurious. Service What I appreciated most about the service was that it felt genuinely human. The staff were consistently helpful and proactive. What stood out to me was that the service never felt overly scripted or robotic. There were occasional normal human moments — someone being busy or slightly tired — but the willingness to help and take action was always there. To me, that actually made the service feel more genuine. Luxury does not necessarily have to mean perfection at every second; sometimes it is the feeling that there is a real person on the other side who is genuinely trying to help you. Housekeeping was also excellent. The schedule was impressively precise, and the turndown service was a proper full turndown rather than simply turning down the bed. Breakfast I only experienced breakfast during this stay, but overall I found it very good. The Thai and Asian selections were particularly well executed and flavorful. The international selection was extensive and covered the usual hotel breakfast favourites very well. I personally would have enjoyed a little more variety in the Thai section, but the Western selection was comprehensive. My friend, who is much more interested in pastries than I am, was particularly impressed with the pastry selection. One small detail made me smile: on the first morning, I wondered why there was no ham prepared the way I expected. On the second morning, I discovered the roasted ham station, where the chef slices it to order. Problem solved! Overall, it is a very good hotel breakfast, especially for guests who enjoy Asian cuisine. Wellness & Facilities This is where The Peninsula Bangkok really stood out for me. 9/10. There are surprisingly few hotels in Bangkok where you can genuinely spend an entire day enjoying wellness facilities and activities without feeling like you need to leave the property. I particularly enjoyed the hydrotherapy facilities — the warm bath, cold plunge, sauna, and steam room. I personally preferred the sauna to the steam room, but having all of these options available made the stay feel like a genuine staycation rather than simply a hotel stay. The range of wellness activities was another highlight. I joined an Art of Mocktail Making class, a Kombucha class, and a Muay Thai session. These activities were fun, well organized, and gave me plenty of reasons to actually stay on the property rather than simply use the room. For me, this is one of the hotel’s strongest points. The Spa The spa is located in a separate building, which gives it a peaceful atmosphere and makes it feel like a dedicated wellness destination. I had a 60-minute hot stone massage and thoroughly enjoyed it. The treatment was deeply relaxing without being overly aggressive. I personally prefer a massage that helps the body relax rather than one that turns into a test of pain tolerance, and this treatment was exactly right for me. I left feeling genuinely relaxed and refreshed. Riverside Location & Transportation The riverside location gives the hotel a very distinctive atmosphere. At first glance, being on the Thonburi side of the river may seem slightly less convenient for exploring Bangkok by road, but the hotel’s river transportation makes a huge difference. The hotel can arrange river transfers for guests, which makes travelling along the Chao Phraya River remarkably convenient. I really enjoyed being able to use the river as part of the experience rather than simply seeing it from the hotel. Coming back to the Peninsula by boat after being out in the city was particularly memorable. The moment you arrive back at the property, the atmosphere becomes noticeably quieter and calmer. Peninsula Time One of my favourite features of the stay was Peninsula Time, particularly the late check-out of up to 10 PM. For a Bangkok staycation, this is an excellent concept. Instead of feeling like you have to leave the hotel around noon and suddenly have an entire afternoon to fill, you can genuinely spend the day enjoying the property. With the wellness facilities, activities, dining, spa, and the overall atmosphere, the extended check-out makes a one-night stay feel much more substantial. It genuinely changes the way I think about a one-night hotel stay. Overall The Peninsula Bangkok is not trying to be the newest or most fashionable hotel in the city. Its strength is something more understated. It is quiet, elegant, private, and remarkably calm for a hotel in the middle of Bangkok. The combination of the riverside setting, mature greenery, attentive service, excellent wellness facilities, dedicated spa, and the freedom to spend an entire day on property creates a very distinctive experience. For me, the defining feeling of the stay was simple: I didn’t feel like I was staying in Bangkok. I felt like I had temporarily escaped from it. That is what makes The Peninsula Bangkok special to me. A quiet luxury oasis in the big city. I would happily return for another staycation.

Having visited Bangkok every year for the past 20 years this was our first time at the Peninsula and it will not be our last. The VIP fast track along with the limousine service booked through the hotel is worth every baht. We were greeted at the gate and escorted through the hundreds of people at immigration then into our hotel organised limousine within 15 minutes of departing the aircraft. The limousine driver was very polite and courteous. I highly recommend this service. The hotel staff were perfection from check in to our terrace room 3507 to housekeeping organising extension cords, kettle, ice, extra pillows through to door people, the pool people, the breakfast staff, house keeping and the boat service - all perfect. We only had breakfast one morning in the hotel and what a feast with lots of variety. Highly recommended. Sad to be leaving today but we will be back at this hotel every year from now on. Simply the best!

I was taken to stay at The Peninsula for a birthday treat - and what a treat it was. This hotel is simply perfect! There isn't a single aspect of our stay I could find fault with; Room, staff, service, cleanliness, facilities, location etc. I have stayed in many 5 star hotels in Bangkok and The Peninsula Bangkok is right up there at the top, and rightly so. But, the definite highlight of our short stay was the breakfast on the riverside terrace, it was absolutely superb, we didn't want to leave, it was so great. Fantastic selection and fantastic taste. I would like to say Thank You also, to the hotel for the birthday surprise in the room (cake and balloons) The Hotel boat shuttle service was very useful and very helpful and the huge mall - Icon Siam is just a few minutes' walk from the hotel (or 2-minute shuttle boat ride from the hotel). I feel proud and blessed to have been able to stay at The Peninsula Bangkok and I would definitely love to stay there again. As Ed Sheeran would say (or sing), it was .........'Perfect' :)

We stayed at The Peninsula Bangkok from 1 to 3 August for two nights. For our airport transfer, we chartered a helicopter, allowing us to land directly on the hotel's rooftop helipad. We were welcomed in the dedicated Aviation Lounge, making for an exceptionally smooth and memorable arrival. The rooms are elegantly furnished in a timeless luxury style, maintained in impeccable condition, and offer breathtaking views of the Chao Phraya River and the Bangkok skyline. The staff are exceptionally well trained and consistently provide service of the highest standard. The hotel's greatest strength, however, is its remarkably tranquil atmosphere. Although the property was well occupied, every area felt calm, unhurried, and serene. Time itself seems to slow down here—something truly extraordinary in the heart of bustling Bangkok. Having stayed in many ultra-luxury hotels around the world, I can confidently say that The Peninsula Bangkok ranks among the finest city hotels anywhere. It fully deserves its outstanding reputation—and from your room, you quite literally look down upon the Mandarin Oriental on the opposite side of the river.
