The Peninsula Bangkok The Peninsula Bangkok remains a top-tier choice for luxury travelers, offering a seamless blend of traditional elegance and modern convenience. Pros: • Location: Directly on the Chao Phraya River with complimentary shuttle boats and walking distance to ICONSIAM. • Service: Impeccable. The staff were gracious, polite, and highly professional. • Dining: The breakfast buffet is extensive with a wide variety of high-quality options. • Facilities: Nice rooms, spacious bathrooms, and a beautiful riverside pool. Cons: • Maintenance: The shower outlets in the bathroom were a significant weak point, offering very poor water pressure. Additional Notes: The hotel’s iconic afternoon tea and the scenic river views from the balconies are standout experiences that shouldn't be missed. Bottom Line: A beautiful hotel with an unbeatable location and stellar service. A minor plumbing issue is the only thing keeping it from perfection.

This review concerns my pre-arrival reservation experience with The Peninsula Bangkok. We ultimately did not stay at the hotel because of the issue described below. While considering moving my family from our existing Bangkok hotel, I asked whether we could settle the bill upon checkout rather than provide a deposit at check-in. Kai, Assistant Manager – Front Office, confirmed in writing: “No problem, we can do so.” I subsequently reconfirmed this arrangement and asked the hotel to ensure that it was properly noted. Relying on that written confirmation, I informed our existing hotel that we would be checking out, and my family packed for the move. Only afterward was I informed that the arrangement could not be honoured and that a deposit would be required. I have screenshots documenting these exchanges. To be clear, my complaint is not that The Peninsula Bangkok has a deposit policy. I fully understand that hotels may require deposits. The issue is that I had specifically raised this requirement before deciding to move hotels and had received written confirmation that settlement upon checkout would be possible. I was subsequently told that management and the Finance team would not approve the arrangement and that a deposit was required. For the Deluxe Room, the amount eventually quoted to me was THB 79,000. Had this been communicated from the outset, I could simply have decided whether or not to proceed. Instead, the exception was confirmed first and withdrawn only after my family had acted in reliance on that confirmation. What I found particularly difficult to understand was why such an exception was confirmed to a prospective guest before the necessary internal approval had been obtained. For a hotel of this standing, I would have expected the internal approval process to take place before an unequivocal commitment was made to a guest. The handling of the matter became even more disappointing when I was addressed as “Ms” and then simply by my name, which felt abrupt and impersonal. As the exchange continued, I found the tone increasingly abrupt. Eventually, I said that I would stick with Mandarin Oriental and considered the matter closed. However, before doing so, I had explicitly requested that the matter be escalated to the General Manager or Hotel Manager. As of the time of writing, I have received no follow-up from senior management — not even an acknowledgement or explanation of what occurred. This experience was deeply disappointing, particularly because we made arrangements and altered our plans in reliance on the hotel’s written confirmation. The issue was not simply the deposit requirement itself, but the hotel's failure to honour or properly communicate a commitment that had already been confirmed in writing. The abrupt ending and lack of follow-up further undermined my confidence in the hotel. As a result, we decided not to proceed with our stay.

The Peninsula Bangkok delivered a memorable stay, combining its distinctive riverside setting with warm, polished hospitality. A special thank you to North at reception, whose genuine welcome set the tone from the moment we arrived. Her thoughtful arrangement of our stay with a splendid river view and bouquet made our celebration feel especially personal. Service throughout the hotel was consistently attentive without ever feeling intrusive. The complimentary boat transfers were a delightful way to travel along the river, supported by friendly and efficient staff. Peninsula Time added welcome flexibility to the stay, while PenChat was particularly useful for arranging room service, with requests handled promptly and seamlessly. The spa was another highlight. The treatment room and the special arrangements were beautifully prepared, creating a private and memorable experience. Poolside service was equally commendable, with attentive staff contributing to a relaxed atmosphere. Breakfast offered a good selection, although service during peak hours has some room for improvement. A little more coordination at busy times would bring the experience fully in line with the otherwise excellent standard across the hotel. Overall, this was a thoroughly enjoyable stay, distinguished by thoughtful touches and a team that understands how to provide refined yet personable service. Our sincere appreciation to the entire Peninsula Bangkok team. We would be very happy to return.

Our family had a great time at Peninsula in January. The service, atmosphere, and staff were superb. The pool is beautiful with magnificent views. All the staff were attentive. The breakfast was one of the best in Bangkok. Rooms were a bit outdated but well maintained. The only downside of the room was the air conditioner vent on the ceiling. It is located right above the head of the bed and the chunks of dust dangling inside were clearly visible. I had to sleep with my head at the foot of the bed. I am planning my next visit and I am hesitant because of that memory. Besides the vent, everything was perfect.

I stayed at the Peninsula Bangkok from 08-09 September 2026, and it was truly a dream come true. From the moment I arrived, I received the warmest welcome from the incredible KJ, Director of Guest Relations, and Khun Tung, the amazing Chief Concierge, both looking elegant in the beautiful Peninsula green. The room was absolutely beautiful – spotlessly clean, timeless, and filled with that old-money elegance I love. The river and city views were simply picturesque, especially during sunset. A very special thank you to KJ, who went above and beyond with a beautiful birthday room setup. It was such a thoughtful surprise and made my stay even more memorable. The pool deserves a special mention – it really is one of the most beautiful hotel pools in Bangkok. The pool team was warm, attentive, and took excellent care of us, from explaining the facilities to offering pool towels. And of course, breakfast was fantastic, with an impressive variety and excellent quality. The Peninsula bakery was another highlight-absolutely amazing! A beautiful hotel, exceptional service, timeless elegance, and unforgettable memories.
