About the Hotel

Board a private speedboat bound for The Siam Hotel at Saphan Taksin central pier and leave Bangkok’s chaos behind. This urban retreat, part of the Legend collection of Preferred Hotels & Resorts, is a one-of-a-kind marriage of traditional Thai culture and delicious Art Deco ornamentation designed by “Architectural Digest’s Top 100” recipient Bill Bensley and overseen by Krissada Sukosol Clapp, a Thai pop singer and actor who won the country’s equivalent of a Best Actor Oscar. The resort sits on three acres of riverfront land in the royal Dusit district and draws inspiration from Paris’s Musée d’Orsay. Guests are blanketed in tranquility in oversized suites teeming with antiques.

Reviews for The Siam Hotel

Good boutique hotel, but not great yet

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 days ago

We stayed for a couple of nights here in Nov in the river view suite. It's another Bensley hotel and the hardware certainly delivered. We loved the design of the public space and the room. It has a very low room count of 40 and a relatively large ground for a hotel in Bangkok of this size. We loved the restaurant by the river and the pier, everything was in good shape. Food was some of the best hotel food we have had, both in terms of breakfast and dinner. The shuttle boat was absolutely lovely and they provided you with water and wet wipes too. However, let's move onto the negatives and why we couldn't give this place 5-star. 1) the hotel seems consistently understaffed. it would take forever to get seated, get water, get someone to order food and to get refills of water. some of the staff were fantastic and some less so, maybe because they were stretched or stressed. Wedding dinner every night also seemed to drain some manpower away from the restaurants. 2) some cleanliness issues - we wondered onto the 2nd floor and there was a spider web right outside one of the guest rooms. 3) over the weekend, both days there were wedding receptions, so there were outside guests constantly walking from lobby to the venue and the story house was forever blocked off during the day. We could not visit it at all during our stay. 4) spa massage experience were just okay, compared to what we had before coming to the Siam. And if you juts go for the sauna, there was no one there to direct you or assist you. We liked the somewhat location as a retreat, but for that to work the spa really has got to be on point. Otherwise one would feel somewhat trapped here with no good options to be had. 5) at check out, the again was delay with luggage delivery from our room to the hotel car. The staff suggested we stood next to the vehicle in the heat while waiting for the luggage, to which I asked if he could just unlock the door and let us on, and they obliged. It's not something that should happen when you charge 5500THB++ AND give us a run down dirty old smelly third party Toyota minivan. Mandarin Oriental charges 4k THB NETT for a hotel mercedes V-class. 6) the hotel pool only had 4 cabanas, which were again constantly full and unavailable. You could be set up further out, which is no big deal, but it's a bit annoying you stay at a low room count hotel just to constantly find everything is full and slow. Pool service was good but slow. They give you sunscreen, towels, col water and some mango-orange ice smoothie which was delicious, but it took a long while to arrive. Maybe it's nit-picking but to me it just sort of defeats the point. Overall, we loved the hardware, the space, the food, the boat shuttle here. However on the whole, especially taking the price into consideration, it has become quite an average stay for us. We tried hard to love it and it simply isn't worth the price and service isn't up to standard. We would most certainly not be returning here for future stays.

Absolutely flawless, incredible hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We stayed for one night at the Siam in one of their suites on our honeymoon and we were both absolutely blown away by this hotel. Every single detail about the venue is perfect, the service, room quality, food quality, ambience and style are all a perfect 10/10. I can’t stress how good the staff are, the Thai food in the restaurant was stunningly good, the suite and amenities were incredible, the list goes on. Expensive, but worth every single baht. If you’re in Bangkok and can afford it with your budget, book this hotel without a second thought, you’ll not be disappointed! We are already looking forward to coming back the next time we visit Bangkok!

„Cherry on the cake” of our Asian vacations

Together with my wife, have stayed in more than thousand hotels in all continents and The Siam would definitely be in our subjective list of Top 5 Best hotels in the World. This is beautifully restored and designed hotel, being an oasis of quaintness in a buzzing Bangkok. This place pays attention to every small detail to pamper their guests during the stay. It is also incredibly nicely decorated with thousands of elements matching themes of different parts of the hotel. Last but not least - the staff. BRAVO, BRAVO, BRAVO !!! You all - from housekeeper, through spa, restaurant and our personal butler Gwan - did a fantastic job ! We didn’t meet General Manager, but such a super professional staff must also be her/his result of great supervision. We will be back !

Amazing place, can't recommend highly enough

Incredible hotel, one of the best we have stayed at and we have been fortunate to stay at some of the best all over the world. Rooms are large and well appointed, hotel is very well kept up, restaurant is excellent, and the gym is nice. The concierge (they call it butler) is unbelievably helpful.. No task is too challenging - they even decorated our kids room with all sorts of halloween decor and treats for us when we were away for halloween. Thank you Krys!!! What a wonderful guy and team of butlers. It made our kids whole trip (and got us out of trouble with them!). And it wasnt even that expensive! We would wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone.

The wellness activities through the spa with their “doctor” are a complete waste of time and money!!!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 months ago

This review is just for the wellness activities with the “doctor” at the spa. Booked multiple wellness activities with their doctor at the spa. Thoroughly disappointed with the ridiculously over priced and useless experiences. Started with meditation. I’ve done simple meditation for years just focusing on breathing, etc. when he asked me what kind of meditation I practice and I told him just basic breathing and what not that I learned from apps and online, he laughed and was condescending. I was hoping to learn some new meditation techniques. instead, he just said “relax” as I focused on individual body parts. This is what I already do on my own and can get from any meditation app! Reiki was next…wow what a joke! He covered me from head to toe in a sheet, put his hands on different parts of my body and occasionally made whisping noises. Did zero for me! Finally was ashgandy. This is basically a very deep, deep tissue massage with oil by one of his staff members and the oil is supposedly healing. The massage was very deep and good. But that’s all it was! There were no healing properties and I felt nothing unique from it anytime after. Overall, I spent over 500$ on a deep tissue massage and a useless meditation session that I do myself. I got more from visiting one of the local Buddhist temples and having a guided meditation session from one of the monks! Those sessions were free (well, just a donation)! DO NOT waste your money for these wellness activities! They are way over priced and will do nothing for you!
