I enjoyed a five-night stay at SO/ Bangkok and am happy to report that they are back at their regular service-level, after what I felt was a dip during a couple of my previous stays the last years. This time, pretty much everything worked out in a great way. I am on a 3-week travel in Asia, and the room on the 26th floor was probably the smallest one I will have on this trip - but it worked out perfectly. I love the shower and bath-tub with a view to Lumpini Park, I love waking up to the same view - and it is SO nice to have that walk-in closet behind the bed. Housekeeping was truly great in all aspects, and so were the members of staff working in Club Signature on the 25th floor. I don’t want to mention names, as they were all excellent. Big plus for clear marking of food items on the buffet and for having dedicated utensils for each dish. The gym has had a serious (and much appreciated) upgrade since my last visit. It is not large but has great equipment for a hotel gym, and the team managing the gym and pool area are SO service-minded and friendly. The pad thai I had by the pool was spectacular. Our dinner at Red Oven was good too. I also tried out the lobby and rooftop bars. The rooftop bar was a big disappointment last time I stayed - this time, both service and food were fabulous. So congratulations to the hotel management on the new and much better concept. Also the lobby bar staff members were attentive and service-minded, and again - the view to Lumpini Park from the lobby adds a lot to the experience. Room for improvement? Yes. 1) The most important is the dissolving fake grass on the solarium on the 10th floor. I tried to do yoga out there and got both my clothes and myself covered in green «fluff». The «grass» is probably disintegrating into microplastic particles that are spread into nature by the wind and should be replaced with something more durable, natural and sustainable. 2) I really enjoyed the delicious food from Red Oven and in Club Signature - but there is one area where they are still struggling: Bread. One morning, I tried to have a piece of bread with breakfast that I was simply not able to cut with the bread-knife. I have heard it is difficult to bake bread under such tropical conditions, so maybe it would be better to just prepare some alternatives? 3) On the day of my departure, Club Signature was understaffed for breakfast. It took long time to order, and I also did not get what I actually ordered - but I did not have time to wait for the correct order and cannot really blame the one member of staff on duty. Also, it would have been good to receive the welcome letter describing club benefits upon check-in (I arrived after the lounge was closed and checked in on the 9th floor) or in the room. But all in all, I had an amazing stay. I will certainly stay at SO/ also the next time I get a chance to visit Bangkok.

When your arrive at the hotel, you are greeted by the concierge desk who take you to the 9th floor where the reception personnel proceeds to check you in. They supposedly upgraded our room, although we got the same Room we had reserved. I found the room to be “too white” and very impersonal. Cleaning was not great as I found mold in the bathroom sink which was never cleaned during our stay. Positives: the view from the room was nice. Concierge and receptionists nice. Negatives: mattress hard, room too cold, had to turn off air conditioning during our whole stay ( we asked how to fix it but the answer did not help). The first night, there was no hot water in the shower, so we called the receptionist and asked to have it looked up in the morning since it was already 11:30pm. We went to sleep and at 12:30am we hear a knock at the door and the bell ringing and it was maintenance coming to fix the problem. It took me more than 2 hour to go back to sleep and we had an early tour the next morning. That was very inappropriate. The second day we returned from a tour at 4:30pm and the room had not been cleaned. Some amenities are not included, like shower cap, so you have to call to request it. All in all, if I were to return to Bangkok I would choose a different hotel, I don’t recommend it.
