Home away from home

As expected my stay at Sofitel was fantastic. I stay at Sofitel Bangkok at least 4-5 times a year. Lovely clean rooms with very friendly staff. The breakfast buffet is amazing. The location is great with many restaurants and shops in close proximity. Service by Mira and Pat in particular at the front office was superb! Look forward to visiting again in the very near future.

Rejuvenating

3 Nights Luxury Millesime Room Booked through a 3rd party. The initial room 2307 I was assigned was awful. After a sleepless night I requested a move and was given a wonderful room with a famed Sofitel bed. It was like light and day and I am grateful for the professionalism and care shown. In-Room dining was high quality and made easy with the iPad beside the bed. The Millesime lounge serves high quality food throughout the day in relaxed surroundings. The service and dedication of the staff is what makes this hotel one I will always return to. I was keen to see the Pool refurbishment and it's been done extremely well. It's very neat and tidy and perfect to rest, but the service was a bit hit or miss. Shame the area near the entrance couldn't be utilised better. Perhaps a BBQ. Overall I had a much needed rest in perfect comfort . Incredible value for money at a wonderful hotel. Best wishes to all.

Excellent service in the executive lounge from Macky and Mariella.I arrived late but they went out of their way to make me welcome and enjoy what time was left during the evening cocktail.

Disappointing

I stayed at the Sofitel in April 2026 to try out the pool. However, the pool was closed for renovations. No warning on the website at the time I booked. But an email update before I arrived, offering the use of alternative pools at 2 lesser quality Accor hotels. The alternative pool options offered simply wasted a lot of travel time and were a poor substitute. I was looking forward to a second stay at the Sofitel in July 2026 to spend long lazy days by the newly renovated pool. Unfortunately, the pool was once again closed for part of the day on every day I was there. I understand that maintenance needs to occur and that private functions may occur. But it is disingenuous and disrespectful for the Sofitel to not mention on its website any amenity closures or at least include such information in the check in email that is sent to guests prior to check in. The first I knew about the pool closures was a letter in the room after I’d checked in. The pool, when I finally did get to visit during one of the opening time slots was disappointing. There were no sun lounges available when I visited. There is no children’s pool, so it was extremely busy with lots of children. The kids were having a great time, less so the adults. Being a gold Accor member, I was “upgraded” to the next category of room. I really disliked the room I was allocated. It was an odd, almost triangular shape that meant the window was only approximately 140 cms wide, with minimal natural light or views. It was like an Ibis hotel window. Also very tiny coffee/tea cups. A nuisance to continually refill. I ended up using the glass tumblers which were more like a decent sized mug. Overall, I was disappointed with my stay and left earlier than planned. However, on a positive note, the staff were exceedingly courteous, friendly and their service was excellent. The roof top bar is amazing. But given that I wanted a luxury city hotel pool stay and a room with a big window and lots of natural light, the Sofitel just didn’t deliver this time. Accor needs to add to their portfolio of 5 star hotels in Bangkok. They recently lost the Muse hotel and the very decent and convenient Novotel airport hotel. This leaves Accor with only 3 five star hotels in Bangkok, the Sofitel, Banyan Tree and SO. There is little incentive to renew my membership.
