Sofitel Bangkok Sukhumvit

I stayed at the Sofitel a few years ago and thought it was a little lacking, particularly around the pool. This time, the pool area has been completely transformed and is now a real highlight of the hotel. The pool has new lounge chairs and shaded cabanas, making it much more comfortable for relaxing. The atmosphere feels stylish and modern, and the new poolside bar adds to the overall experience. It has become one of the best places in the hotel to unwind. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a two-level upgrade to a lovely Club room on the 20th floor. The room had a great view over Sukhumvit’s busy streets. The Sofitel is right in the middle of Bangkok’s nightlife, making it ideal for guests who enjoy that scene. Those seeking somewhere especially quiet may prefer another part of the city. My only complaint about the room was that the toilet area was very small. It is best to do what you need to do and not linger. Almost everything in the room is controlled through a tablet, including the television. A remote sits beside the TV, but it only controls the soundbar. Using the tablet to change channels is a little inconvenient, although this was a minor issue. Service in the Club Millésime lounge was excellent. I would particularly like to recognise Mariela from Guatemala, who always gave guests a warm welcome and regularly checked that everyone was enjoying their stay. Breakfast in the club combined a small, high-quality buffet with made-to-order à la carte options. The portions were modest, so I enjoyed ordering several different dishes each morning. The Level 2 walkway connecting directly to the BTS is another excellent feature. It is particularly convenient for avoiding the rain and the crowds on the street. The only sour note was a small service decision that felt unnecessarily petty. I did not have time to use the complimentary drink vouchers provided during my stay, so I asked whether the single beer I consumed from the minibar could be complimentary in their place. The hotel declined. It was a minor matter, but the lack of flexibility felt out of character for an otherwise highly service-oriented hotel. Overall, the Sofitel is a solid luxury choice for guests who want to stay in the heart of Bangkok’s nightlife. I’m looking forward to staying again.

⚠️ PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN STAYING AT THIS HOTEL Our last night at the Sofitel was extremely disappointing and upsetting. We discovered that the safe in our room had stopped working, and we were missing jewelry and $200 USD from our room. We immediately reported the situation to the hotel and expected the matter to be taken seriously. Unfortunately, after investigating, the hotel told us that they did not find anything in the room. We know what belongings we had with us, and we know what was missing. Being told that nothing was found does not change the fact that our belongings were no longer there. The experience completely changed our impression of the hotel. Guests should be able to feel that their belongings are secure when staying at a hotel, especially when using the room safe. I am sharing this review so other travelers are aware of our experience and can take extra precautions with their valuables if they choose to stay here. Keep important belongings with you whenever possible and do not assume that the room safe will protect your valuables. This was supposed to be our last night and a memorable part of our trip. Unfortunately, this is what we will remember about our stay.

I spent 10 days at the Sofitel hotel with a few few day break Hua Hin. This is clearly a world class hotel with first class employees that really make the stay very special. The location of the hotel is near malls, the train system, and very close to all the Bangkok attractions. Upon checking in the agent was Lanna who is exceptionally professional and gracious, not only during the check-in process, but throughout my stay. Always remembering my name. The door butler Liv was very attentive to every single guest that arrived, departed, and throughout their stay. She always remembered my name and greeted me as I entered an exited the hotel. The executive lounge really is next level in terms of customer service and food selection. They really do make you feel very special and you definitely get your moneys worth. The staff of Mariela, Nok, Baeju, Gift, and Friend really work hard. They are as gracious at 7 o’clock in the morning as they are at 7 o’clock in the evening. Definitely a first class experience.
