THE NOT SO SUBTLE FEELING OF BEING MANAGED RATHER THAN WELCOMED

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 10 hours ago

Bangkok has no shortage of five-star hotels. What separates the truly good ones from the rest is how they handle the unexpected – the sense that you belong there. The Sukhothai’s answer to that is: gloss without depth – like silk stretched over concrete. Everything shines, but scratch the surface and there is… nothing. Service runs like on a conveyor belt, but only along the exact tracks for which staff have been trained. The moment you step even a millimeter beyond that, all warmth disappears. True hospitality – the kind where someone takes responsibility and puts things right – is simply not part of the DNA here. Instead, you get a rehearsed smile, the line “I will discuss it with my team,” and the not so subtle feeling of being managed rather than welcomed. In the middle of it all came the point that sealed my impression: I hold Titanium status – something earned only after an absurd number of nights on the road, away from family, living out of a suitcase in the marathon of loyalty. Here, it counted for nothing, simply because the booking was not made through their own channel. That is not just a snub – it is the conscious decision to ignore a supposedly valuable relationship. And for the rates charged per room here, this is not just disappointing. It is an insult.

My favorite hotel resort in Bangkok

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 20 hours ago

This is my second time at The Sukhothai Bangkok, and it’s still the best place to stay here. I love everything here during my stay. Especially, I had a great spa session with my masseur - Khun Korn and he is my favorite. As a male solo traveler, I always prefer a male masseur for my massage and Khun Korn did an amazing job. Can’t wait to visit the hotel again and book my next spa sessions with Khun Korn in the near future.

A Sanctuary of Peace

An exquisite and peaceful retreat with a professional staff. Breakfast is just breathtakîng and the rooms so quiet. I recommend this Hotel for nature and spa lovers

I am out of words.. this place is to good to be true! In the Spa, Aomsin just looked after me perfectly - and Milk , the therapist must have magic hands. My therapy took away a couple of years 😂
