Reviews for The Sukhothai Bangkok

A Lovely Anniversary Stay

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 6 hours ago

I stayed at The Sukhothai Hotel on 15 February for one night. I have been meaning to write a review for quite some time but haven’t gotten around to doing it until now. I am a Sukhothai Platinum member, which I enrolled in last year during the Thai Tiew Thai event. To be honest, I didn’t know exactly what to expect at first since I’m Thai as well. However, the membership benefits seemed interesting, so I decided to enroll. Firstly, I would like to mention Khun Eve, who took care of the membership. She is very helpful and genuinely kind. She also looked after us during our stay, and apart from the membership benefits themselves, she is actually the main reason I decided to renew the membership again this year. Before our stay, I used one of the cash vouchers at La Scala. The service was great, although the food was not completely on point for me yet. However, the membership benefit that waives the corkage fee when bringing your own alcohol is very nice. We used the remaining cash voucher for the Sunday brunch on Chinese New Year day. The restaurant was packed, which was understandable. The food was good, especially since there was a special Chinese New Year menu. More than the food, I was particularly impressed by the dessert section. The pastry team is doing a fantastic job. It was honestly the best dessert section in a buffet line that I have experienced in my life. Chef Mam, Chef Keen, and the rest of the team are doing an amazing job. The service there was also excellent. Although the team seemed small, they managed table clearing and service requests very efficiently. If I remember correctly, our servers that day included Khun Boom, Khun Run, Khun Toon, and Khun Earth. The check-in process handled by Khun Eve also went smoothly. Khun Kay Jung also prepared a small flower for my husband to give to me since it was our anniversary and close to Valentine’s Day. This small gesture really impressed me, and the flower was very beautiful. When we entered our room, we were also very impressed. To be honest, I didn’t know what type of room we would get since I can be quite careless with details. We found two very sweet cards and a lot of welcome desserts waiting for us. They also decorated the bed, which I really appreciated because I know the housekeeping team must have put a lot of effort into it. I loved the gesture. However, maybe next time, considering my age, I would prefer something a bit more modern or fashionable—the swan decoration feels a little old-fashioned to me. But of course, we were happy with it regardless. The check-out process also went very well. Khun Mike and Khun Patric were very nice, and Khun Beer at the front office was also very helpful. We also had the chance to use the swimming pool. One staff member (unfortunately I cannot remember her name) took great care of us—she even laid the towels down nicely for us. If we had done it ourselves, it definitely wouldn’t have looked as good! I really love the swimming pool area; it feels a bit like a beach club but in a calm and relaxing way. Overall, we were very happy with the experience and can’t wait to come back again.

Beautiful place. Service & staff were excellent. Concierge, I think her name was Lily. Sweetest and most helpful young lady. Always with a smile.

La Scala – Birthday Dinner

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Celebrated my birthday dinner at La Scala and it was a lovely experience. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. From the fresh salad and rich tomato soup to the perfectly cooked salmon, everything was very tasty. The service was excellent — attentive and friendly throughout the evening. They even surprised me with a birthday dessert, which made the night extra special. A great place for a special dinner. Highly recommend. ✨

A Water Garden Retreat in Bangkok

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

Bangkok is a city I cannot help returning to several times each year. It is a place I have grown quite fond of over time. Last year I happened to see The Sukhothai from the nearby Banyan Tree while looking down from above. The view of the property was so beautiful that I decided to stay here this year. A friend and I booked an Executive Suite for the visit. One of my favorite moments was simply spending time in the lobby. The sculpture set above the water pond created a very memorable scene. The water landscaping near the entrance to the hotel was also quite impressive. The courtyard is especially beautiful. There is a lovely pond there and it was a wonderful place to sit with a book while enjoying Bangkok’s gentle breeze. If I were to mention one small point, breakfast might benefit from a little refinement. The selection is generous though it was somewhat difficult to find dishes that felt particularly memorable. Even so the hotel carries a deep sense of Thai culture and atmosphere. That alone made the stay feel quite special. I would also like to express my appreciation to the Korean manager who kindly assisted us in Korean. The handwritten note and the thoughtful help in resolving a small issue left a very warm impression. It was a gesture we truly appreciated.

One of my favourite hotels in the world

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 days ago

I’ve stayed in many of the five star hotels in Bangkok over the years, but I have returned to the Sukhothai repeatedly over the last decade. It remains one of my favourite hotels in all the world. It is an oasis of calm, in the always vibrant, and at times chaotic city of Bangkok. It has in my opinion the best swimming pool in the city, the rooms are stylish and super comfortable, and it’s also serves the most delicious breakfast in the Colonnade restaurant. What makes the Sukhothai so special though is the staff, they are some of the nicest, most welcoming hospitality professionals I have ever met. From the housekeeping staff, to the restaurant staff, they all are dedicated to make sure that you have the most comfortable and relaxing stay possible. I have to give a special mention to Eve on reception, all the concierge team ( Som, Toon, Chai, Tee, Pam, Jack & Mike), and the pool team (Nuch,Real, King, Bobby & Kookkit) - we received exceptional service from all these people.
