Reviews for Eurostars Grand Marina Hotel

Not 5 star

Arrived at 1.30pm, reception was busy and disorganised. Was told room was not available until 3pm and was given a pass to access facilities. Decided to go for a drink at roof top bar which was way over priced. Was shocked by size of pool (more like a big bath). Didn’t visit roof top bar again. Went back to reception at 3pm and had to wait another 30 minutes in queue. This needs to be more organised and quicker. Room was nice overall. Bed really comfy. Downside was no shower gel or hand soap in dispensers. These were not checked for our 3 night stay. Location was good, with port nearby and Las Ramblas 10 minute walk.

AMAZING Hotel

We stayed here on our city break trip. Location is amazing if you want to enjoy quiet mornings and beautiful views. Close to the marina and promenade (if you are a runner you will appreciate!) as well as to the Old Town which is 200m away! We love our room - very spacious, big shower, black out curtains, AC, walking wardrobe, basically - had all we needed to enjoy hustle free stay. Stuff was very helpful and super nice. Especially we want to thank to Alex who took care of us from the very start! We will definitely be back here soon!!

Great location to port

We stayed here two nights and although it was pretty expensive per night the location was great. The rooms were nice and the staff was friendly. The cons I guess is check in check out is a big chaotic and not very organized. The pros the room - location and the staff were friendly. The pool on the rooftop was a favourite for kids and the restaurant is nice.

Absolutely terrible.

This is advertised as a 5 star hotel - it clearly is not. My wife and I entered the hotel and it was chaos. Guests all over reception with no queue in place, and disinterested staff. Once we did check in (it took 55 minutes) we were assigned a room. As soon as we opened the door it reeked of cigarette smoke. Absolutely disgusting. On returning to reception, I had to wait a further 50 minutes to explain the smell and to confirm that the hotel was a non-smoking room. I was assured that it was, however, the gentleman on reception informed me that if guests wished to smoke, he 'could not stop them???' We were then assigned another room that reeked of cigarette smoke. My wife became very upset, and now the clothes we were wearing smelt of cigarette ash. There is clearly a sign in the room that states you will be fined if you are cought smoking in the room. This is not backed up which is just appalling. Here in the states we enforce that policy, and guests simply do not smoke in the rooms as it is against the law. I have written to the hotel, but have not even had a response. 5 star hotel ? Absolutely not. I will be charging my card back for a full refund. Total disgrace. The fact that managment do not respond on here to reviews speaks volumes.

Room for improvement

The hotel is well situated and comfortable enough. Rooms are large and clean but a little dated, with a small baclony. If you are facing opposite the world trade centre which seems to encompass the hotel at the rear, it’s very noisy early in the morning with workers going about their day. Pool is very small but food at the pool bar is good and the ladies that run it are doing an amazing job. Front desk experiences were a mixed bag. Some people are clearly not happy in their role, considering they are front of house, they are rude, abrupt and seem insincere. The room issued to us was 1 large bed when id booked 3 beds for my sons and I. They quickly moved us but felt we we’re being awkward by addressing the mistake. A bottle of red wine was sent to our room. Recieved with thanks. We chose to eat at the main restaurant one evening but the service was shockingly slow, we waited for 30 minutes before being asked to order food, we hadn’t even been offered water or drinks at this point. I feel it was under staffed and not the fault of the wait staff who was managing the cocktail bar and the restaurant alone. There were just 3 family’s dining that evening. I’d hate to see it busy. In addition, the food that did arrive was very nice and I enjoyed the meal. Overall a frosty feel to the place, some staff above their station and missing a smile and some warmth. Food ok, breakfast not worth €25 but nice enough with lots of choice. Mini bar well stocked but expensive. Won’t return here but enjoyed our stay with no major issues.
