With its enticing resort atmosphere, Fairmont Rey Juan Carlos I is an island unto itself amid Barcelona's sensual urban delights. Taking its cues from the artistic city it inhabits, this retreat offers one of Spain's most distinctive escapes. From standard guest rooms to the Royal Suite, style is both classic and contemporary, while impressive views sweep over the city and/or sea. Dining choices are equally engaging, including Restaurant Polo, which serves sophisticated Mediterranean cuisine inside the spectacular 16-story atrium lobby.

My recent stay at the Grand Meliá Torre Melina in Barcelona was a highly enjoyable experience, particularly for those seeking a quieter base outside the busy city centre. Located in a მშვიდ and leafy neighbourhood to the northwest of the city, the hotel offers a welcome retreat while remaining well connected. With two public transport lines within a five-minute walk providing direct access to both the airport and central Barcelona, getting around is straightforward and convenient. The hotel itself delivers strongly on comfort and amenities. The rooms are clean, spacious, and well equipped, and the overall standard reflects its five-star rating. The facilities are impressive, including a 24-hour gym, as well as both indoor and outdoor pools. Dining options are also a highlight: the two on-site restaurants serve very good food at prices that feel reasonable for a hotel of this calibre. Service stands out as a particular strength. Staff are consistently friendly, attentive, and professional, helping create a welcoming and polished atmosphere throughout the stay. The breakfast buffet is another positive, offering a wide selection of fresh produce alongside both cooked and continental options—although the coffee could benefit from some improvement. One area with untapped potential is the wellness offering. While the hotel has solid on-site facilities, it is also uniquely positioned next to excellent external resources, including a country club, a David Lloyd centre, and university sports grounds. There’s a clear opportunity here for the hotel to build partnerships and develop a stronger identity within the growing luxury health and fitness market. Overall, the Grand Meliá Torre Melina provides a refined and relaxing stay with excellent service, strong amenities, and convenient transport links—ideal for both business and leisure travellers.

We stayed here for 2 nights following 4 nights in the heart of Barcelona. The hotel absolutely surpassed all of our expectations, it was fabulous. It's a short walk to the metro and the city is easily accessible by metro or bus. The hotel is a fantastic location to relax after lots of exploring in the city. Spacious, comfortable rooms, great food, attentive service, pools to swim in and plenty of space to relax. We enjoyed celebrating our 30th anniversary and grateful for the sentiments from the hotel.

We came some weeks ago for our engagement trip to Torre Melina and we were mesmerized by the architecture of the hotel and its incredible lobby. We were nicely welcomed by Cristian at the Front Desk, who also took care of us during our stay. He also recommended us to eat at Erre for a romantic dinner and we were deeply surpised for the quality of its meat and service (especially to Victor, who really helped us to choose one wine we really enjoyed). We really had an incredible experience at this hotel and we are definetely coming back in our future visits to Barcelona. Thank you! N.

For a 5-star establishment, the service is disgraceful. While the food is decent and the interior design and rooms are beautiful and well-equipped, the rest of the experience was a letdown. The SPA requires an additional €25 fee, yet the sauna wasn't even working. They advertise a rooftop, but it was closed (be careful when booking through Booking.com, as they list many amenities they don't actually provide). There are no playrooms or facilities for children. To top it off, when we asked for a late check-out, they charged us an extra €65. This hotel is an embarrassment to the 5-star rating. For this price point, I sincerely recommend staying elsewhere. Do yourself a favor and skip this one. Trust me."

Our long-awaited family reunion took place in one of Spain's most beautiful cities. We chose the Meliá Torremelina as our accommodation...and it was the right choice! A stylish hotel with beautiful designer spaces, a wonderful botanical garden, a Christmas photo zone, and an ice rink. We loved everything: the beautiful, comfortable, and perfectly clean rooms, as well as the delicious breakfast. But the magic wouldn't have happened without the attentive and professional hotel staff, who helped make our stay unforgettable. We'd especially like to thank Carolina Guest Experience, Marta, and Alejandro at Red Level reception. We'll definitely be back and recommending this hotel to our friends and colleagues.
