Grand Hotel Central Barcelona

My friend and I stayed at Hotel Grand Central Barcelona for a girls’ weekend at the end of July, and we were very happy with our stay. I love a five-star property, and I’d describe this as more of a “city 5-star” than a “5-star 5-star,” if that makes sense. It delivers the comfort, service, and amenities you want from a luxury hotel while still feeling very much like a stylish, urban Barcelona property. Our room was excellent. The bed and bedding were extremely comfortable, the towels were lovely, and the dressing gowns and slippers were a nice touch. We also had turndown service with little chocolates left on the bed, which I always appreciate. The shower was particularly good, with multiple shower heads and excellent water pressure. The air conditioning was powerful and, importantly in Barcelona in July, fully customizable. Even the complimentary bottled water was unusually high quality. The rooftop is the real showstopper. It is genuinely one of the most beautiful hotel rooftops I’ve seen. We went up for a nightcap and, although it was busy, the staff found a table for us because we were hotel guests. The drinks were definitely expensive, but that’s not exactly surprising for a five-star hotel in a major European city, especially with a rooftop like this. My only real criticism would be the continental breakfast, which wasn’t particularly memorable. That said, the breakfast staff were lovely, and as a Hilton Gold member I received breakfast as part of the benefits associated with the property’s SLH affiliation, so it’s hard to complain too much about a complimentary meal. Overall, we had a lovely stay and would happily return. The combination of a great location, comfortable rooms, excellent service, and that spectacular rooftop makes this a very solid choice for a Barcelona getaway.

Great location, excellent for families ( family suite). Great pool with awesome rooftop views. Good value. Only downside is no room to store suitcases in the family suite (minor problem for 2 night stay though, may be issue for week stay)

Wonderful hotel in a fabulous central location. The staff are very helpful and charming. I travelled with a small dog and the staff went out of their way to accommodating. Top tip, although the pool on the rooftop gets busy during the day, I swam at 7 am in the morning, saw the sunrise and had the whole pool to myself. Bliss

Outstanding Hotel and staff!!!

We had an excellent 3 day stay as a family of 6. We booked a family room and separately a superior room. The location, service and food are all excellent. Rooms are a tad small which might be due to the very central location. Fantastic for exploring city by foot but kinda tight once you have suitcases lying around so floor space is limited. Everything feels very new and later tech. One of the best hotel beds we've slept in! Pool is small but in line with other nearby hotels. Very photogenic so beds were in hot demand. The staff were excellent at managing this.
