Tucked onto a distinctive pedestrian street in Barcelona, Hotel Granados 83 fuses its neo-classical origins with strikingly minimalist interior design. This dramatic Derby Hotels affiliate is anchored by a central, light-infused courtyard whose panoramic lifts transport guests to the summit of the property. Awaiting your entrance are swimming pools, a bar and a restaurant. Surrounding the courtyard, sophisticated New York loft-style bedrooms with red brick walls, leather headboards and zebrawood floors showcase glamorous urban design.

I have stayed in this hotel several times while teaching at Barcelona Management School. Hotel Granados 83 is right in the heart of the city, a couple of blocks from BSM. The hotel has a slightly quirky boutique feel. The standard rooms are a good size with balconies, and all the usual amenities - TV, fridge, hair dryer, etc. A standard double room with breakfast runs around €200/night. The cooked breakfast is limited (basically eggs and bacon), but the buffet has a wide range of meats, cheeses and fruits, plus amazing coffee. On this trip I stayed in a standard double room as usual while teaching, then upgraded to a duplex luxury room when my wife joined me for a few days' sightseeing. The duplex rooms are approximately €100/night more than the standard rooms, but for that you get quite a lot: a separate downstairs lounge with a couch and TV, plus a half-bathroom, a large bedroom upstairs with a king-sized bed and another couch and TV, a full bathroom (with tub) on the mezzanine floor about the bedroom, and access to a semi-private pool and sun terrace which is shared with two other duplex rooms. If you are not working and plan to spend some time in the hotel, the upgrade is worth the money. Hotel Granados 83 is on a street (Enric Granados) that is well stocked with cafe-bars and restaurants and numerous supermarkets. Everything you need is within a few hundred metres and it is a short walk to the port area or the Sagrada Familia. The hotel is about 30 minutes by taxi from Barcelona-El Prat Airport (BCN) and costs around €30. If you are flying into Barcelona using a budget airline, make sure it is landing at BCN and not at one of the geographically remote airports like Reus or Girona that the dodgy carriers pretend is in Barcelona! Overall, Hotel Granados 83 is a lovely little boutique hotel with a central location. It is definitely on the pricey side, but bear in mind that Barcelona is quite an expensive city to visit as a tourist. Recommended.

We stayed for 2 nights and were able to explore everywhere on foot. Lovely room and very friendly staff. We were able to check in early which was a great start. We loved that there was a proper bathroom, not one of the transparent bathrooms that every hotel seems to be adding. The room had all of the essentials we needed (shower gel, shampoo & conditioner, body lotions, manicure kits etc) aswell as a robe and slippers. Lots of hanging space for clothes. We didn’t get breakfast so can’t comment on that - lots of places around to eat. Only a few negative points - noise: as other reviews have mentioned, you can hear everything, it seems there is little soundproofing. We could hear our neighbours talking until 1am, and a group that came in singing and shouting at 4am. There is a school playground right outside the balcony (see photos) which produces noise all day too. It’s also a bit weird to be sitting on your balcony overlooking school children! Lovely sun in the afternoon/evening but I wouldn’t book a room with a balcony again for this reason. - lack of curtains: the room has a shutter and a thin mesh curtain. There is no blackout blind/curtain - which means the sun comes through early in the morning. Bring an eye mask! - room service: we ordered one night and it was dire. It showed up after almost an hour and was a tiny portion which was also cold. It seems that the room service is delivered to the hotel rather than being made on site. If I’d known this, I would’ve just ordered something nicer and cheaper from a food delivery app. - shower: eventually it was lovely but very complicated to figure out initially! Some instructions would’ve been useful 🤣

Great location, helpful friendly staff, we had a duplex so plenty of space, nice quiet neighborhood but not too far to walk to the sights, nothing was too much trouble

I visited this hotel last week with my daughter as an early birthday present. We arrived early and were delighted that we could access our room immediately. The room was lovely and spacious with a huge comfy bed and a view over the street. The only thing that let it down was the bathroom that really could do with a refurbishment. We had maintenance at it a couple of times as the water wouldn’t drain due to the plug dropping and not being able to raise it. A walk in shower would be better than over the bath. Bathrobes and slippers were provided that was a nice touch. The staff were extremely friendly and helped us with any queries about the area. The hotel is situated in the l’Eixample area and is surrounded by many bars and restaurants. We felt eating out was a pure joy as it was mainly locals and as my daughter speaks Spanish we chatted to many. Local transport hubs are close by so you can reach the attractions easily and relatively cheaply. A great city break. We would definitely return to this hotel. Thank you
