I've stayed at this hotel hundreds of times (since it was a Crowne Plaza). I thought the rebranding couldn't improve its quality (that was very high); but I was wrong. They're even better now. From the check-in process (Joan) and your first class lounge experience (good drinks but poor food), till the concierges (Marc and Gema are incredibly professional and know everything about the city, the region and the entire country), you can feel confident that you will be able to make the most of your stay in Barcelona. I love them all!

Just returned from Barcelona with my family and stayed at this beautiful hotel. Guest and other service providers were friendly and helpful. The room was absolutely amazing. They have a 24 hour menu, so you can always order something to eat. Hotel isn't far from the shops at all, maybe about a 15-20 min car ride. Would definitely stay here again.

We recently stayed at the Intercontinental Barcelona as a family of four. While the hotel has some clear strengths, overall it didn’t quite meet the expectations that come with its premium price. What I liked: The staff were consistently friendly and helpful, which made a positive impression. Breakfast was another highlight — a good variety of fresh options, well presented and efficiently managed. What I disliked: The air conditioning in the room wasn’t strong enough, making it hard to stay comfortable, especially during the summer heat. While the room itself wasn’t small, the beds felt cramped for a family of four and didn’t offer the level of comfort we expected. We also had dinner at the Montjuïc rooftop restaurant and found it quite standard — not bad, but nothing memorable either. There were also some question marks around cleanliness. For example, one of the bathrobes in our room had visible usage marks, which is not something you expect from a hotel in this category. Overall, the hotel felt like it was missing a bit of character or “soul.” It has potential, but for the price, we expected a more polished and memorable experience.

Extremely Disappointing Experience with Night Staff I have never experienced such unprofessional and rude behavior at a 5-star hotel. During my recent stay at the InterContinental Barcelona, I approached the night shift front desk staff (Maria) with two simple and urgent requests — to help charge my phone and to assist with dialing an international number. I explained it was important as I had my baby in the room and needed to stay connected. To my shock, she flatly refused both requests in a very dismissive and disrespectful manner. When I asked for her name so I could report the incident, she proudly said, “My name is Maria, I work night shift front desk, and you can write whatever review you want,” showing complete arrogance and lack of hospitality. As Platinum Ambassador members with IHG and Titanium members with Marriott, we are frequent travelers who always choose luxury hotels for their service and professionalism. Unfortunately, this experience was nowhere near the standards expected of a 5-star property. Such behavior leaves a lasting negative impression and makes us question our loyalty to the brand. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously and ensures that no guest has to face such treatment again.
