Everything we experienced in this hotel is quality. Room size was large and the bedding and pillows were so soft and comfortable. Everything is so modern and fresh feeling. Staff were all super friendly and spoke English. Especially the reception staff. Perfect location to walk to Palau Saint Jordi for concerts etc. We decided to try the breakfast just to see if the experience was as good as the rest of the hotel. Its very expensive at €35 p/p. But there was a fabulous choice of cold meats, cheeses, salmon, fruit, yogurts, breads and sweet desserts. The cooked section was the only let down. The quality wasn't on the same level and it was only luke warm at best. Also it wasn't made clear when we were seated that we had to order what type of eggs we wanted at the table via a waiter. So when I went to get my cooked selection I thought I could order my eggs at the station. The chef just looked at me and then turned his back on me. So that was the only part of the whole experience that was dissapointing.

I was thoroughly impressed with this hotel and its luxury spa amenities. The wait times to check in or to access concierge were a bit lengthy (there appeared to be a large party utilizing the ballroom while we were there) but staff were utmost professionals. The Intercontinental signature scent was intoxicating and the rooms were well appointed. Club Intercontinental offered a spacious and quiet lounge to enjoy beverages and treats, as well as an expanded continental breakfast and evening hors d'œuvres. The rooftop offered panoramic views of Barcelona and a lovely restaurant with bar. The food is spectacular and reasonably priced. The pool was also in this area although we did not use it. The expansive breakfast buffet downstairs is among the best I have seen. Wait staff were incredibly attentive and each dining experience was a joy. The true gem at this hotel is the Spa Intercontinental. I had the opportunity to spend a few hours in the thermal suite and it was spectacular! Staff offered a warm reception, explained where the amenities were, provided a robe, slippers. canned beverage and off I went. The plunge pools (hot and cold) were lovely as well as the many jetted massagers, wet/dry saunas and loungers. I had the entire area to myself the majority of this time and I thoroughly enjoyed the relaxing and serene experience after a long travel day the day prior. I would definitely return to this hotel just for the spa experience, but the hotel is equally luxurious. Both are befitting of 5 stars. Thank you for a memorable stay.

This was a beautiful 5 star hotel. We booked into this property one day prior to a 13 day Mediterranean cruise. WOW The pampering began here. The staff at reception were extremely accommodating and met our every need. The room was great. We had a panoramic view with the Sagrada Familia Basilica under construction in the distance. Our bed was very comfy. Loved the bedding. The free bathroom amenities had a great scent. Breakfast was included and it was outstanding. So many great offerings. Very walkable area. Nice restaurants close by.

The InterContinental Barcelona is a stunning place. We had an unforgettable experience — from the breakfast to the room to the service, much of it was impeccable. The breakfast buffet was delicious and elegantly presented, though service could be improved as staff seemed a bit harried and unhappy on both days. Our friends from Dubai and London wanted to join us at the table, and they were unhappy adding additional placements even though there was room. Also, the shower temperature in our room vacillated between hot and cold. These two reasons are why I am not giving the hotel 5 stars. What made the day even more miraculous was how I got the ticket to Sagrada Familia — thanks to Marc, the tall guy at the InterContinental Concierge, who somehow secured it when the usual wait is at least two weeks. He even joked I should buy a lottery ticket! Thank you Marc and Intercontinental Barcelona. The touring March recommended was seamless and professional — no waiting at all. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and revealed details I never would have noticed on my own. From the turtle and tortoise sculptures at the entrance — one representing the sea side and the other the mountain side — to the subtle Asian influences in the faces of the sculptures, every element has meaning. I was amazed to learn that even the numbers carved into the Passion façade add up to 33, symbolizing the age of Jesus at his death. And the stained glass windows — blue facing east, red facing west — beautifully amplify the sun’s rays at sunrise and sunset, adding a magical glow to the cathedral. Truly an enlightening and unforgettable visit — I highly recommend Intercontinental Barcelona and Marc for making it happen.

We had a great trip, easy early checkin with helpful staff, spacious clean quiet 3rd floor room with a window that opened for fresh air and a kingsized bed, amazing rooftop area with comfy sunbeds, cold lap pool, chill music, amazing view of the city. The hotel is located about 20 mins from the airport near the Montjuic area, which is slightly outside the centre. We walked to Las Ramblas in about 40 minutes but mainly used the Metro to get around which was easy and cheap. The Metro station is a 5-10 min walk from the hotel, along the road to Ave Parallel and then left up towards Place Espanya. There are lots of bars and restaurants locally including across the road, along Rue Parallel, in the city centre. For food we used Sec Cafe, Annarre Pizza, Tartlet Brunch, Colom Restaurant, Gelaati, which were really good. Only things we would improve in the hotel are food and drink in rooftop bar expensive and not great quality, layout of toilet and shower slightly cramped, slightly musty smell in bedrooms and corridors.
