Reviews for InterContinental Barcelona

Great hotel, good location

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 days ago

We stayed here for 3 nights and found the hotel to be absolutely excellent. Perfect for what we wanted. Having visited Barcelona a few times previous, we wanted somewhere out of the hustle and bustle of the city where we could relax and the rooftop terrace area was amazing for it. Room was upgraded on arrival, even though I dont usually stay with IHG. Staff were accommodating. Only 2 small gripes with the hotel, there were no water machines to fill up a bottle, which meant you had to go upto the rooftop terrace all the time who would do it for you. My other gripe comes with the territory of staying in a luxury hotel, so I cant moan too much, but the prices of the rooftop terrace were quite expensive. €10 for a beer, €5 if you wanted water and ice, €8 for a portion of fries. But bar staff were extremely friendly and came round with nuts and smoothies now and again on our stay. I can’t comment on food as we always ate out, but it looked good. (Shoutout to the Taps, tapas restaurant opposite the hotel. Really good local fresh tapas) Id absolutely recommend staying here, its a great hotel and Id definitely return

Best Stay with the best Host

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Amazing Stay with the best lounge host I’ve ever encountered, I have stayed in many intercontinentals world wide and Julian was absolutely brilliant, He made our stay, he made sure my step mother had a lovely room with a note and chocolate, and was so attentive with our every need. We will come back just to see this wonderful man. He is an absolute credit to the hotel. Thank you Julian from Mrs Day

Not 5*

The best things about this hotel is the room and most of the staff. The visit didn’t start well. Using their central booking site, I reserved two rooms and requested that they should be adjacent but not necessarily communicating. For the three nights accommodation I paid a little over €1700 including breakfast. An instant confirmation was issued. The day before we were due to arrive, a welcome email was received but this showed only 3 guests were expected. Our original confirmations showed 4 guests. A phone call to customer service quickly confirmed we had adjacent rooms for 4 people. On arrival at the hotel I was given keys for one twin on the second floor and one double on the first. It took almost 30 minutes to remedy this and we were taken to two adjacent rooms on the second floor. We well all unimpressed with the delay. The rooms were spacious and well appointed and importantly clean. Breakfast was a large buffet with omelettes and scrambled or fried eggs ordered from your waiter included. Poached eggs or eggs Benedict carried a surcharge. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. The swimming pool was disappointing. This is not a resort hotel nut the pool was a glass tank and the water was 1m deep throughout. It must have measured 15m by 5m. Not very big. The view of Barcelona was spectacular. The rooftop restaurant was good, as was the bar. The location is ok. It is not situated in the best region of the city but it is very near Montjuïc park and its magic fountain which our two teenagers enjoyed enormously. The biggest problem we has was a pair of gold earrings disappeared from our bedroom, when my wife was stupidly enough not return them to our safe before going out.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wonderful Stay! We had a fantastic stay at the InterContinental Barcelona. The hotel was beautiful, clean, and comfortable, and the rooftop pool was the perfect place to relax after exploring the city. The location was convenient for seeing Barcelona, and we truly enjoyed our stay. We would happily stay here again on our next visit!
