Reviews for The Level at Melia Barcelona Sky

Solid hotel but still needs work

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 3 weeks ago

Very nice hotel but not 5star, an average 4 star Above all else the staff are outstanding, the best in any hotel we have stayed in in recent years, really a credit to the hotel and why I rated 4/5 instead of 3.5/5. Overall the hotel is very well located with easily accessible public transport and within walking distance of lovely bars/restaurants and shopping centres. The room: bed:very comfortable and spacious, bedding is crisp and the pillows are fantastic, there are 6 on the bed and each is slightly different from firm to fluffy. Layout: very large desk and one chair which if you order room service will not work if more than one person, also extensive room service menu which looked very nice but spoiled by not being able to eat at a table for two. There is a chaise lounge which is handy to open your suit case on as there is no other option other than the floor. Bathroom: window from bathroom to bedroom, not practical as we found out during the night when you turn on the light it lights up the bedroom waking up my partner. No amenities provided, such as tissues, cotton buds, shower cap, bath salts, bubble bath, disposable razor etc, as I would expect from a 4/5 star hotel. I went to a local Lidl to get tissues and cotton pads as I don’t like using toilet paper. Shower was tiny with a blue glass door and I mean tiny, I stubbed my toe twice on the drain cap and bruised my elbow on the shampoo dispenser. It is so small that the bathroom floods so we found out the hard way why they provide an extra large towel. On the first morning we had no water due to works in the hotel, I had showered the night before but my partner didn’t so he wasnt able to shower/shave until that night, no communication that this was happening and we had to leave as we had tour tickets. The Level Lounge was relocated to the ground floor restaurant also on the second day due to the works but again this was not communicated on check in. The rooftop bar was also closed for a private event so having a night time drink and enjoying the view has not happened. Happy hour is nice but I was so looking forward to tapas but it seems to be the same every night, I was hoping for more variety and local dishes, there is nothing better than Spanish tapas but this did disappoint. We have previously stayed at a hotel in Amsterdam that did a similar happy hour and the local cuisine was outstanding and varied between hot and cold dishes. They provide a trolley of alcohol and garnishes but no recipe of how to make drinks from what was provided, a few recipe cards would be a nice touch such as Bloody Mary, vodka martini, old fashioned etc. Overall a good solid hotel, is it 5 star? No is it working towards it? Possibly, but has a way to go. I would stay again but only if the price was cheaper.

Perfect stay in Barcelona

Staying at The Level at The Sky (Meliá) Barcelona was a absolutely fantastic experience. From arrival to departure we were made to feel like valued guests, especially Antonio and Fedrico in the lounge and Noa who was working everywhere. Breakfast was a treat thanks to Victor. Our first stay at a Meliá property but not our last.

Unauthorised card use after stay – disappointing lack of response

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 month ago

I recently stayed at this hotel and experienced a serious issue after my stay involving unauthorised use of my bank cards. I raised this with Meliá’s corporate customer service team and followed up several times over the past week. Although I received a formal response, there has been no further communication or attempt to address the situation. As I have another stay booked this week, it’s disappointing that this hasn’t been handled more proactively. I would have expected better communication, particularly given the circumstances.

4 day stay in Barcelona

Was a great experience! Antonnino Helped with early check in and room upgrades. He was great helping book last minute tours. Definitely upgrade to the level. The lounge alone makes it worth it. You relax with complimentary drinks and snacks without feeling stuck in your hotel room. All of the staff were excellent. Only minor complaint are the light switches were believe or not very confusing and you had to figure out how they worked. It was like a secret code lol.

Most positive experience, book at the Level!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 7 months ago

My wife and I came to Barcelona for three nights for a wedding, which was held in Alella, at a venue named Masia Mas Coll, a bit North from Barcelona, highly recommended. This was our first stay at the Level Sky hotel. Our stay was very pleasant due to first class service. We want to thank Larissa at the Level Lounge for the most positive check-in we ever had at a Melia hotel. Being a gold member, we have experience of several check-ins. We got upgraded to a Premium Sea View room (had reserved a city view) at 22nd floor. Thank you for that! The 30m2 room was nice and spacious, the storage space for clothes was though very limited. I few hooks would be welcome. The same in the bathroom, no knob/hook for the large towels and bathrobes. When you have been out jogging there is no place to hang your jogging outfit when you have washed them. This problem goes for most hotels I have visited! There is one issue I want to point out concerning the room. The Nespresso coffee machines are not properly cleaned. I always take a cup of plain hot water from the machine to see if I get clean water, or water with dirt left in the tubes after coffee brewing. And I usually get light brown water with some coffee leftovers. Clean them properly, thank you. The breakfast is served with a satisfying selection to choose from, of high quality. I got my omelet cooked to order each morning. We also liked the breakfast terrasse with a lovely view. The level lounge was also a nice experience. We thank Larissa for helping us with an issue we had with a parking garage (not the one in conjunction with the hotel). We want also to thank Antonio for being most helpful both with the parking issue and making our stay most comfortable, and for a smooth check-out. We are looking forward to our next visit with you.
