Etched in the European landscape is the beautiful town of Barcelona. Among all the historic and Gothic buildings is a modern structure that reaches towards the heavens, known to savvy travelers as Melia Barcelona Sky. Its location amidst the cultural landmarks of Catalonia is most definitely an enviable one. Guest rooms take on a minimalist approach with streamlined furnishings and splashes of bold color set against a backdrop of neutral tones. The Level, a floor holding a collection of spacious suites high atop the hotel, provides exclusive services to guests such as private check-in and evening cocktails, plus panoramic views of the city below.

We were lucky with sunny warm weather in early October. We chose a sea view room on The Level. Room 2311. Great view and excellent comfy bed. Bathroom was slightly tight, but had twin wash hand basins (bonus), bad shower temperature control (all over the place). Soft drinks in the fridge appeared to be chargeable which is a bit silly. The Level had a breakfast area on floor 24 - a wonderful spot with a view. Breakfast choice was reasonable and there was a nice option of sparklingly wine to make a mimosa. The LEvel on floor 25 had a great selection of tapas, and self pour drinks (including hard stuff). I had a few hours by the pool which is shallow and “refreshing’ but usable. We paid €534 for two night inclusive of breakfast and use of the Level. Good value. Staff all wonderful so generally would recommend it. In addition, the local beach is only a short 10 minute walk.

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights prior to picking up our Cruise in Barcelona, check in was efficient and friendly and room was basic but modern and clean. We took the option of breakfast which was buffet style and ok but with lovely views. On check out and still within the Hotel footprint we were subject to theft which was not the fault of the hotel but when we asked for their assistance the staff were not interested. There were CCTV cameras in the area which they would not check and only called the Police when we persisted. (Did not attend). This is a very busy hotel and we appreciate that the staff are under pressure particularly at peak check out times but the lack of customer care was staggering. Whilst some point we will return to Barcelona it would not be to this hotel.

It was a milestone birthday for me this September and we wanted a special hotel to stay in for our tip to Barcelona that wasn’t going to break the bank. As I had the Melia app, I requested a birthday upgrade when I booked, but unfortunately hadn’t been actioned when we arrived for check in. Luckily, Laressa on the Level Lounge reception came to the rescue, she is an absolute star and the hotel needs to keep hold of her! She noted the request and immediately upgraded us and even arranged for a birthday cake and hand written note to be placed in the room by the time we’d checked in! She has a good sense of humour and a really friendly demeanour (as did all of the staff), which really made us feel welcome during our stay. She was a pleasure to chat too also. We didn’t get time to use the pool but we did squeeze in a 30 minute spa circuit which was included in the Level booking, which was well worth it. The hotel has good transport links for trams, buses and metro and Poblé Nou nearby has plenty of choice for cafes and restaurants for lunch. It’s a 15 minute walk to the beach and also pretty close to a large shopping centre that includes stores like C&A and Carrefour. The sky bar is where all of the hotel has access to for breakfast and the views are amazing…as was the breakfast food (although the serving area is perhaps a bit small, which is especially noticeable when it’s busy). I would recommend the hotel and if you want to make it extra special, the Level Lounge is well worth it.

We stayed at the Melia Sky for a day/night upon disembarking a Cruise. We’ve started in Melia hotels before so we were looking forward to it. The building is huge, although it can be dark in the reception and corridors. We arrived quite early at 9am and as we had Level rooms, were taken to the Level check in on floor 25 so that we could use the lounge. The food and drink in the Level met our expectations of using Melia previously. Although we were disappointed to be charged a ‘small fee’ of 80 euros to check in early, which the amount wasn’t realised until the invoice had been emailed across. The view from the room was fabulous, however the flooring was tired in our room on floor 19 and the layout / accessories were somewhat dysfunctional. There was also no privacy from the bedroom to the bathroom which was a little strange as there was a clear window. The buffet breakfast seemed good although we only had time for continental on the day of our departure. It was okay, but would not return to this particular hotel.

Great location in Poblenou. Room was stunning with large windows and a view. Clean and roomy space , comfortable bed and a chaiselongue to relax on. Large shower and ritual bath products. The hotel has a pool, rooftop and a spa. I didn’t get to use the spa but the tapas at the rooftop bar were tasty. Very friendly reception staff.
