Located in the heart of Barcelona's renowned Gothic Quarter, the Mercer Hotel Barcelona makes its mark as a celebrated cultural landmark as well as a contemporary luxury retreat. Transcending time and space, the Mercer Hotel Barcelona, whose origins date back to the 1st century AD, embraces its storied past through both architectural and visual design as it passes through medieval and modern eras to the present day. The hotel's sepulchral façade belies the warmth radiating from the common areas, eateries, and luxury accommodations inside. With just 28 rooms, the quality and candor of each space is undeniable. Boasting postmodern fixtures, posh furnishings, and breathtaking views courtesy of vast floor-to-ceiling windows, from the Superior Room to The Suite, every level of accommodation offers complete comfort and a touch of opulence. Deep, plush rugs over cool hardwood floors lead the way to pristine bathrooms where a glazed-effect rain shower and designer toiletries preserve the relaxing ambiance. From the gothic archway leading into the lobby to the inviting ambiance of rooms and suites, every unique detail at the Mercer Hotel Barcelona is dedicated to enhancing your experience.

We were absolutely delighted by how beautifully the architecture of the hotel has been preserved and blended with the Roman wall. I had been to Barcelona before, but never to such a magical and unexpected place in the heart of the Barrio Gótico. My favorite spots were the library and the terrace but honestly, every corner is unique and so well maintained, which makes it truly special. A big part of the experience was also the warmth and courtesy of the staff always attentive to every detail and greeting us with a smile. Mauro truly made the difference with his expertise and guidance, helping us enjoy every single day in Barcelona with impeccable service and the best recommendations, he’s without a doubt a great asset to your team. Mercer Hotel will definitely be part of all our future visits to Barcelona and at the top of our list of recommendations!

This is truly a unique hotel. The building, which is located in the heart of the Gothic quarter, is a historical monument. It is a smaller hotel and the staff provide a highly personalized 'white glove' experience. All of the staff were approachable, helpful, and accommodating. The rooms were clean, updated and immaculate. I would definitely stay there again.

We stayed at the Mercer hotel in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona in September of 2025. First of all, the hotel is beautiful and we loved the location in an area that is charming, historic and "less touristy" More importantly, I can't recall a hotel ever having a staff as attentive and efficient as the staff here. We had a missing suitcase upon arrival in Barcelona and they helped us find it. Every request was met with a smile. They genuinely want you to enjoy your stay and you feel it. We loved staying here and I highly, highly recommend the Mercer hotel on a visit to Barcelona.

A friend of ours recommended the Mercer for our trip to Barcelona. During our trip we actually stayed with the Mercer twice at both ends of our travel. Upon our initial arrival we were met by Mario at the drop off point in the Gothic Quarter. He was extremely helpful in getting our bags into the hotel and our room while providing helpful information about the area and the hotel. We talked with Mario throughout our trip. As our concierge, Mauro was extremely helpful in getting us tickets to several events and advising us on dinner locations. We visited one of his dinner recommendations twice. The hotel itself is in a great location with access to several nearby historical locations. The rooms were clean and spacious. The breakfast spread was outstanding and the wait staff extremely professional. We felt at home with the staff and accommodations at the hotel, really enjoyed our stay!!

What a perfect recommendation from our Travel Agent! This beautiful hotel is perfectly located in the Gothic Quarter - within walking distance of wonderful restaurants, historical sites and local shops. It is quiet and intimate - beautifully decorated with an outdoor garden for breakfast and rooftop bar and swim pool.
