Luxury boutique hotel but some things to know first

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 day ago

This is definitely a luxury boutique hotel (smaller than you think, not a large hotel) that is designed well and is super modern. The best part of the hotel without a doubt is the staff. Everyone I came across was great, friendly and willing to help. That is quite rare. The rooms are really nice, spacious (we had the family suite, 2 rooms and was absolutely massive). My issue though was they were a little dark (not much natural light) and there is the underground train below (you can hear even from 3rd floor) so every minute you'll hear a rumble. It may not bother everyone, but for sensitive sleepers it might. So be aware of that. The breakfast was great, food quality good and the terrace quite tight, but also quite well put together. Overall 4/5 for me!

Hotel is in a good central location. Doormen are attentive as well as reception staff. Our suite looked over a dingy courtyard under renovation. We stayed five nights for over $2500 and you would expect a better room. Mini bar was not restocked daily. For a five star hotel there is No smart TV so you cant sling your app content. No turn down service.

Fabulous Stay at the Monument Hotel

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 1 week ago

We were immediately made to feel right at home. Everyone we encountered at the Monument Hotel was pleasant and helpful. The room was perfect and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast is fresh and made-to-order. We loved everything about our stay at The Monument Hotel. It's truly a 5-star experience.

very disappointing

Definitely not fitting the 5 star class. 1. rooms the smallest I have stayed at in any hotel, also noisy due to thin walls 2. breakfast very average , not 5 star level 3. costumer service, not very honest or reliable ( would offer water at lunch but not mention there is a 3.5 euro charge for it, or would offer a favor over the phone but not follow in practice) 4. Room service, occasionally not done or items not refilled without any explanation In conclusion, the hotel appeared cheap and money hungry.

Experience a truly luxury hotel in bustling Barcelona!

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The hotel room itself was the best past of the stay- the bed/linens/bathroom/shower/tub/toilets... they came up and worked with us to get the television to stream netflix. I also really appreciate feather pillows. so that was a nice touch. The hotel is historic, architecturally appealing and modernized for today's clientele. I like that we experienced staying somewhere who so obviously takes pride in their business- making us comfrotable while traveling. We had room service for dinner and Oscar was so service oriented and wanted to be sure it was a good experience. Juan the conciergne is simply amazing and what a smile he has and high energy. The work he did for us on the spot was like alundry list of ideas and places to eat. On top of all that we were able to get into our room early- and the reception attendant was so kind and good at her job- we did get upgraded, I believe due to the AMEX Fine Hotels program. ANd i wish i could recall the doorman's name because he was amazing too. He saw us pulling our luggage up the street due to the bicycle race and he came up the street and took our luggage. We were exhausted as all the streets were closed and had been walking around for over half a mile with a lot of luggage. The hotel in general is just very well kept up and modernized and that really matters to us as travelers. i also loved that my room had french doors and we were able to get fresh air. It was one of the best hotels we have stayed in, in all of Europe over the past couple years. We would return in a heartbeat to the Monument Hotel.
