Not a good value for money

TripAdvisor Traveler Review Rating Reviewed 2 weeks ago

The rooms seem to be quite old and need urgent renovation. Furniture is partly defect but defenitly scratched all over. Not the cleanest hotel, surface yes, but lacking in details. as soon a piece of furnuture moves a bit you could see the mess. Communication upfront with the hotel via Whatsapp and email was poorly answered and had huge delays. Quite inflexible and not helpful at all. Onsite it was different. Staff was friendly and tried to help where they can, but overall way too expensive for the quality and not worth its 4 stars with the current way the rooms look like

Lovely hotel but spa experience let it down

I stayed with my family for 9 nights room only so we could explore the area and enjoy a variety of restaurants, of which there are many. The reception staff were friendly and super helpful in booking tickets etc. Rooms were a good size, and the shower was nice and powerful. I really liked the incentive of a free drink if the room didn't need servicing! We had breakfast one day and there was a good selection on offer, including really fresh fruit. It was pretty pricey at €19 per person compared to the coffee shops and brunch offerings locally. We didn't eat in the restaurant as we weren't inspired by the menu but did enjoy drinks outside, which was really nice. The roof terrace and swimming pool was great! Generally pretty quiet despite only a few sunbeds but there was a variety of seating, including beanbags! The pool, although small, was probably one of the nicest I've used. It was also surpringly quiet up there. Now to the spa. There is an extra charge to use the facilities, which is fine and made clear. There are also an array of treatments available. I treated myself to one that cost €125 and was to last 100 mins according to the brochure. Firstly the ambiance - not tranquil in the slightest! The treatment room is more akin to a hospital with bright lights, sterile feel and a door that doesn't close properly. It's also situated next to a spa pool so the sound of running water and people speaking is ever present. I was expecting more sumptuous surroundings in keeping with other spas, eg low lighting, candles, gentle music, a glass of water offered at the end, etc. But there was none - welll that's not strictly true because when there was a lull in the spa noise next door I could hear a faint glimmer of music, although the therapist's phone constantly buzzing didn't really help either. The treatment itself was great, my only complaint being it didn't last anywhere near 100 mins. When I challenged the therapist she said it took 1hr 10 mins (so 30 mins short). Luckily I had photographed the brochure (to remind myself what it included) and it was only when I showed her that did she agree to an additional treatment to take me up to time (and cost...) All in all I was hugely disappointed as to me a treatment is the whole package, tranquil surroundings etc. I didn't feel relaxed at all, which was a real shame. I wanted to make others with similar expectations aware of this so they don't build their hopes too high.

Good for families, rooms mixed

We enjoyed our time there overall. The breakfast was a stand out - great variety and quality. The little pool on the roof was great for the kids and not very used. Both of our rooms had blackout shades which is nice in the very long days of summer. The things that were not great were the condition of one room - the AC was either full blast or off and the window was damaged in a way that let all the noise of the street in. The staff was apologetic but didn't or couldn't do anything to repair it. They were nice about it though. Additionally, the property was under construction when we were there. I'm not sure when that will finish up.

The Best Family Stay in Barcelona

This hotel is top of the line, worth every cent, best customer service ever! from the time you get there to the time you leave, the kindliness and attention to detail just does not stop, the restaurant and bar are excellent, there is a playground for the little ones and seating right next to it to enjoy drinks and snack while they have fun, the pool is awesome for a nice cool down. Best stay ever!
