In the centuries-old city of Barcelona stands an architectural landmark that has reshaped this Spanish city's skyline. W Barcelona is an iconic glass tower that brushes against the clouds, turning heads from those far below. Overlooking the city is a heady collection of decidedly modern guest rooms and suites with platform-style beds, muted hues and unexpected bursts of color, and streamlined bathrooms with a stash of spa-like amenities. Cocoon yourself behind closed doors where beds are swathed in luxurious sheets and entertainment systems boast state-of-the-art visual and audio gadgets.

The W Barcelona offers a truly luxurious experience in an exceptional beachfront location, with breathtaking views of the sea. The room was spacious and elegant, featuring a very comfortable bed, excellent lighting, and floor-to-ceiling windows that allowed us to fully enjoy the view. The staff were professional, friendly, and attentive at all times. The rooftop restaurant was outstanding, and despite not having a reservation, the team kindly managed to accommodate us for dinner, which made the experience even more memorable. Although the hotel’s location by the beach is spectacular, reaching the city center can be slightly inconvenient due to limited public transport options. That said, the views, service, and overall atmosphere more than make up for it. Highly recommended for a luxury stay in Barcelona.

The hotel rooms and front desk staff are extremely nice but the hotel atmosphere is not great at all. I booked the hotel during MWC 2026 and they have a new ridiculous practice this year of front lobby security guards checking for room cards & not allowing my business clients into the building to wait for me in the lobby bar. They are forced to stand outside in the cold and cannot have a relaxing drink waiting until I return from a business dinner. I booked this hotel because it was great to host my clients and friends in a fun and relaxing environment in the past. It looks like that is truly in the past and I was told it is because Barcelona has experienced high crime rates in recent years and it was a decision by their Head of Security. Not sure what they are thinking as their bar sat empty and their business is dead. For that reason, I cannot use this hotel again for my MWC business trips and will need to find another friendlier and flexible hotel in the future. Very disappointing decision by Marriott management as in the evening it no longer feels like a nice hotel but a locked down compound. I sat and watched the security guard refuse well dressed people entry to the hotel as the 3 bartenders in their lobby bar chatted with each other while a DJ played music in a large empty room. Not a single customer in sight. Very bizarre policy and no longer a relaxing and fun place to stay.

Its too much hype for what you pay. Would not recommend it unless you have too much money to spend.

Serious incident and zero follow-up My stay at W Barcelona was ruined by a serious incident: I lost two pairs of very expensive shoes inside the hotel. I emailed immediately after noticing, and I received no reply, no follow-up, and no attempt to resolve the situation. For a hotel of this level, this is unacceptable. What makes it even more disappointing is the contrast with their communication: they knew I was staying around my birthday, and I was even receiving emails almost every day asking whether I had received a birthday amenity in my room… yet there was nothing throughout the entire stay. This says a lot about the lack of coordination between departments. On top of that, breakfast service was not up to standard for the price. Overall, the cost is absolutely not worth the experience, and I won’t be coming back.

This hotel has seen better days. The unusual location was something one could overlook in the past, but now that the quality of everything has devolved, there are definitely better options in Barcelona. The rooms were cold and the heat didn't really work. There was a lack of hot water on 2 of the 4 days. The shades open and close in an unusual way. There was extensive construction in the hotel, which made it quire noisy. I guess they are working on renovating the hotel, so I can't quite close the door on the W Barcelona forever, but what's going on there now --- it's not good. The staff try their best, and I offer no complaints on the actual workers - they are the best part of the hotel. But I guess the infrastructure and management are letting them down.
